The Broadmoor
A serene oasis amidst nature
Those looking for 5 star resorts in Colorado Springs won’t be disappointed with The Broadmoor. All of our expectations for this resort were met, and we were impressed. Nestled in a residential area on the southwest side of Colorado Springs, the resort offers a tranquil escape. The resort’s charming pink stucco buildings and lush landscaping create a picturesque ambiance, reminiscent of an Italian lakeside village. The lake itself is a peaceful haven, perfect for leisurely strolls or a relaxing paddle boat ride.
For those seeking outdoor adventures, The Broadmoor’s location is ideal. We were amazed as we were able to find natural wonders like the Broadmoor Seven Falls and the Garden of the Gods easily. In addition to that, the nearby town of Manitou Springs, known for its vibrant art scene and eclectic shops, was also within easy reach. Of course, we had to make a quick day trip!

Luxurious accommodations
As you can see from the picture above, The Broadmoor is a massive resort. In fact, with over 3,000 acres to cover, we didn’t manage to explore every corner of this resort. That said, don’t be surprised by the amount of different accommodations offered on-site. Nonetheless, all of them offer a serene and inviting atmosphere with their calming color palette.
For our stay, we managed to book one of the Broadmoor West premier suites. That’s not all, as we were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony overlooking Cheyenne Lake, which provided breathtaking vistas of the mountains.
However, if you’re looking for the ultimate in luxury, the Penrose suite or the West Gaylord suite are simply unparalleled. The Penrose suite, with its spacious dining room, formal living room, and glass-enclosed sunroom, should be the go-to for those who appreciate elegance and grandeur. The West Gaylord suite, on the other hand, boasts a large outdoor terrace that offers panoramic views of the mountains and the lake. It’s no wonder that this suite has hosted so many famous guests. We’re talking about Elton John and Bill Gates!

Family-friendly paradise
Saying that we had an absolute blast exploring the incredible amenities at The Broadmoor is an understatement. Even before we arrived, we’d already planned what to try. Sadly, even though we spent 3 days at the resort, we still didn’t have enough time to explore everything. However, from our experience, we do believe travelers, especially families, will be captivated by the diverse offerings.
One of our favorite spots was the lakeside pool. The zero-entry design makes it easy for even little kids to splash around safely. The two-story waterslides were a huge hit when we were there, providing hours of thrilling fun. We also loved relaxing in the hot tubs and enjoying the breathtaking views of Cheyenne Lake. Pictures don’t do this pool justice!
For a more leisurely experience, we took to the lake in a paddleboat. It was so peaceful gliding along the water and enjoying the scenery. We even tried out one of the electric boats for a little extra speed. And when we wanted a break from the sun, we headed to the on-site movie theater. It was a great way to relax and enjoy a family-friendly film in a comfortable setting.
Of course, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to explore the beautiful grounds and historic buildings. The European-inspired architecture and stunning artwork created a truly magical atmosphere. We especially loved the cozy ambiance of Bar del Lago and the lively sing-alongs at the Golden Bee.
If you have the time, make sure to check out the world-class spa, tennis and pickleball courts, state-of-the-art gym, as well as the Broadmoor Golf Club.

Out-of-this-world dining experience
The Broadmoor sure doesn’t hold anything back when it comes to dining. Everything option here is on a whole different level. And as big foodies, of course, we tried every single option!
La Taverne, the French-inspired steakhouse, was a standout. The atmosphere was elegant, and the steaks were cooked to perfection. The Golden Bee, with its 19th-century English pub décor, offered a cozy and inviting setting for a hearty meal. For a more contemporary American brasserie experience, Summit was the place to go. If you’re looking for upscale dining, these three are worth it.
Ristorante del Lago, though, was a delightful surprise. The pasta dishes were handmade and incredibly flavorful, and the setting was reminiscent of a beautiful Italian villa. For those seeking healthier options, Natural Epicurean offers a beautiful outdoor setting and a menu full of fresh and nutritious dishes.
Need something more casual or some quick bites? Lake Terrace Dining Room was our favorite for a leisurely breakfast or a delicious brunch. Café Julie’s was also another great spot when we needed a quick coffee or a sweet treat. And for those who want to enjoy the stunning scenery of Seven Falls, Restaurant 1858 offers wood-fired Colorado cuisine.

Wilderness adventure
A stay at The Broadmoor won’t be complete without trying out the wilderness experiences. Though we didn’t have the chance to experience it, we bet a stay at Cloud Camp is nothing short of magical. Perched high atop a mountain, this all-inclusive retreat offers panoramic views that are simply awe-inspiring. The cozy accommodations and impeccable service will make you feel truly pampered, while the outdoor activities, such as hiking and stargazing, allow travelers to connect with nature in a profound way.
At The Ranch at Emerald Valley, we were struck by the sense of community and camaraderie that permeated the atmosphere. This all-inclusive experience was perfect for families and groups seeking to bond over shared adventures. We enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, and simply relaxing by the campfire, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
For the fishing enthusiasts among us, there’s the Fly Fishing Camp. The expert guides aren’t only knowledgeable about the local waters but also incredibly friendly and accommodating. Feel free to spend your days casting your lines into the pristine Tarryall River, surrounded by the tranquility of the wilderness.

Other Resorts in Colorado Spring
The best resorts in Colorado Springs don’t just revolve around The Broadmoor. Though it’s our favorite, we still think there are other fantastic resorts you should consider. like the Garden of the Gods Resort & Club as well as the Cheyenne Mountain Resort.
Garden of the Gods Resort & Club
The Garden of the Gods Resort & Club is as exclusive as its name. Situated in a private country club and just a short distance from the iconic Garden of the Gods natural landmark, this resort offers a truly refined experience.
The resort fee covered a range of amenities, including the use of two pools, Wi-Fi, and valet parking. We were so excited when we found the resort also had a 27-hole golf course, tennis courts, a fitness center, and a full-service salon and spa. While the resort-casual attire policy (jackets for men after 6 PM in the Club Dining Room) may be a bit formal for some, it adds to the overall refined ambiance.
Our suite was elegant and spacious. It came with a private balcony and breathtaking mountain views. We particularly enjoyed the wet bar and fireplace. Also, dining at the resort was a highlight. The stone dining room and patio both offered panoramic views of the mountains, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. We indulged in delicious meals that showcased the best of local cuisine.

Last but not least, it’s the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Nestled against the majestic Rocky Mountains, the resort offered a serene escape while still being conveniently located. The resort’s convenient location made it easy to experience all that the region has to offer.
Those looking for cabin resorts in Colorado Springs would love this place. Many of the rooms here are like hotel cabins. Our Deluxe Double Queen Room was cozy and comfortable, with a private balcony overlooking the golf course. Though we loved taking a nap in our room, we couldn’t miss the resort’s amenities. Everything was top-notch, from the stunning pools to the championship golf course. We especially enjoyed the adult-only pool and the private beach on the 35-acre lake.
The Alluvia Spa was a highlight of our trip. We indulged in a relaxing massage and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere. The dining options were excellent too, with a variety of delicious choices to suit every taste.
