Let’s start with Hotel Majestic. It sits right in the heart of the Viejo Prado district, inside what used to be an 18th-century building. The design inside is pretty interesting, as it mixes French and Arab styles together, which sounds odd but actually works.

Breakfast, though, was American style, and everything we had tasted superb. In the evenings, the hotel restaurant serves up a mix of local Colombian food and international options, so there’s something for everyone. There’s also a barbecue setup by the pool, though we didn’t get a chance to use it ourselves.

That said, the pool area out back was definitely a highlight. It’s perfect for cooling off in the afternoon heat, with a sun terrace where you could just chill out. The Wi-Fi works well throughout the property, too, which helped us to keep up with work emails. Overall, it’s a solid place to stay if you’re looking for somewhere with character and good amenities in Barranquilla.

Hotel Windsor Barranquilla

While there are so many hotels in Barranquilla, Colombia, it’s hard to miss this one. The building of Hotel Windsor Barranquilla is a red brick structure with a clock tower on top that reminds you of Big Ben. To be brutally honest, we think it’s a bit random but also kind of fun! The location in Nuevo Horizonte also worked well for us since we were not too far from the Romelio Martinez.

All rooms on the property are comfortable and have all the essentials. Ours came with a minibar, reliable Wi-Fi, and a little coffee and tea setup that made our mornings better. And if you don’t mind splurging, choose one of the suites, which comes with a whirlpool tub and a living area.

Now, let’s talk about the extras. There’s a restaurant with a medieval theme (a bit kitschy, but we appreciated the commitment), and the English-style bar with outdoor seating. We also made use of the pool, and you can take full advantage of the sauna, hammam, and spa, too.

GHL Hotel Barranquilla

First impressions matter, and GHL Hotel Barranquilla gave us a great one. We were greeted with a welcome drink at check-in, which was nice after hours of flight. Having plenty of parking available was a big plus for us, too, since we were traveling with a car and didn’t have to worry about space or security.

We booked the Deluxe King Room, and it was larger than we expected. The bathroom really stood out, though. It was big, finished in marble, and spotless. Best of all, we could order room service at any hour. We were truly pampered!

One thing we found especially convenient was that the hotel connects directly to a small gallery with practical spots like a pharmacy, mini market, and hairdresser, so we didn’t have to go far for essentials. The terrace pool is worth mentioning as well, offering a great view and a nice place to relax.

Four Points by Sheraton Barranquilla

We stayed at Four Points by Sheraton Barranquilla as part of our trip through the city, and we were glad we chose this hotel. Check-in was smooth, the vibe was calm, and having free Wi-Fi and private parking made things simple from the start. Of course, we also took advantage of the American-style breakfast before we were out and about.

Though simple, our room was exactly what we wanted it to be. It was spotless and bright, with the perfect amount of cold. We also had a minibar to store our snacks and drinks, as well as a much-needed hairdryer. It wasn’t luxurious, but it surely did a flawless job accommodating us.

Now, we have to talk about the gorgeous rooftop pool. It was our go-to spot whenever we wanted to unwind and take in the view of the city. We also used the fitness center once during our stay. The equipment was complete, and everything worked well. Finally, the restaurant offered several dining options, so eating in was never a hassle.

Holiday Inn Express Barranquilla Buenavista

Best Budget. If you don’t want to spend too much on accommodation but also don’t want to sacrifice comfort, this is a good deal. The Holiday Inn Express Barranquilla Buenavista is set in the Riomar district, which is a safe and convenient area. It took us about 25 minutes to get to both the city center and the airport. We also loved having a couple of shopping malls just a short walk away for things we forgot to pack.

Our room was a large, modern Standard King Room, and we couldn’t have picked a better option. The bed was extremely comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked well the whole time, and there were plenty of power outlets for charging everything. The private bathroom had all the basics covered, including toiletries, fresh towels, and a hairdryer, which we always appreciate.

Breakfast was honestly way better than we expected, with a solid variety and nice views over Barranquilla to start the day. The hotel also has a small but nice swimming pool that was great for cooling off, plus a fitness center if you feel like squeezing in a quick workout.

NH Collection Royal Smartsuites

Don’t make your choice yet if you haven’t checked out NH Collection Royal Smartsuites, one of the most popular hotels in Barranquilla, Colombia. We had a blast staying at this hotel. It has lots of spaces to sit and lounge, and you can grab a drink indoors or outside. There’s a small pool up top with city views, plus a gym if you’re trying to stay active. On top of that, Wi-Fi worked well the whole time, which made planning our days easy.

Our Superior Double Room leaned into that clean, contemporary look. Think dark wood details, pops of color, and strong air conditioning. We had a flat-screen TV, a minibar for late-night snacks, and a nice view over the city. Room service and laundry were available, too, which came in handy since we had a long stay.

Every morning, we kicked off our day with a buffet breakfast. Though simple, it was super satisfying. We especially loved the coffee and appreciated the fresh tropical fruits. Location-wise, it’s super convenient. Riverside Mall and the Villa Country shopping area are just a short walk away. The staff also helped us with local tips and arranged a shuttle to the airport.

Movich Buró 51

We’ve stayed at a handful of hotels in Barranquilla over the years, but Movich Buró 51 stands out as one of the most convenient ones so far. It was our first time staying here, and it exceeded our expectations. The location is super convenient, as it’s just a short walk from Buenavista Shopping and a quick drive to Washington Park.

Another thing that sold us was the sleep. We managed to sleep more than six hours straight without waking up, which rarely happens when we travel. The mattress and pillows were both comfortable, like what we’re used to at home, and we even mentioned it to the front desk when checking out. The bathroom was another surprise! The amenities were better than what we’ve seen at other hotels in the same category around the city.

The hotel also has some nice extras that made the stay even better. There’s a sun terrace and a sauna, plus a restaurant and bar that are great for winding down. We appreciated the free water and coffee always available in the lobby. It sounds simple, but it’s a huge plus! And though the pool is on the smaller side, we still made use of it.

Faranda Collection Barranquilla

We stayed in Faranda Collection Barranquilla mainly for its location, but it turned out to be even better than we imagined. It’s right in the Prado district, which was clean, calm, and safe the entire time. There’s a church nearby, local residences, and we had no problem walking around the neighborhood at different times of day without feeling uneasy.

What stood out right away was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and quick to help. Whenever we needed something, it was handled within minutes. Meanwhile, the room was exactly what we hoped for: comfortable beds, strong air conditioning, and reliable hot showers, which isn’t always guaranteed in this city.

Another highlight for us was the rooftop pool on the 10th floor. The view alone might be one of the best in Barranquilla. There’s also a gym, sun terrace, and a nice garden area if you want to slow down a bit. The on-site restaurant serves a mix of local, Italian, and international dishes, plus there’s a bar for cocktails in the evening.

Barranquilla Marriott Hotel

Best Value for Money. We honestly didn’t expect to be this impressed, but the Barranquilla Marriott ended up being one of the best Marriotts we’ve stayed at. The hotel feels fresh and modern, and everything runs the way you hope it will with this brand. The lobby is spacious and nicely designed, and it’s a place where you actually want to hang out for a bit before rushing to your room. The lobby bar is nice, too, with solid drink options that work well for a quick meeting or a relaxed evening.

We stayed in a One-Bedroom Suite with Club Lounge access, and it made the experience even better. The room was comfortable, well laid out, and polished. Room service was quick every time we ordered, and the menu had enough variety that we didn’t get bored, even after a few meals.

The hotel facilities really stood out during our stay. The gym is fully equipped and open 24 hours, which we appreciated since our schedule was all over the place. Finally, the restaurants are good enough to handle both casual lunches and business dinners without needing to leave the property, which is always a plus.

Hotel El Prado

Best Historic. If you want to have a taste of Barranquilla’s history, stay at Hotel El Prado. As the name suggests, this hotel is in Barrio El Prado, which is not only a protected heritage area but also right in the middle of where business, shopping, and nightlife happen. The location made it easy for us to move around the city.

The building itself dates back to the 1920s, and you really feel that history as you walk through it. The neoclassical, Republican-style architecture is full of character, with high ceilings, wide hallways, and lots of natural light. We loved wandering through the common areas, from the pool to the tropical gardens, and noticing details like the checkerboard floors, arches, and balconies.

Meanwhile, our Standard King Room was spacious, comfortable, and surprisingly cozy for such a grand hotel. Everything was designed for both rest and practicality, which worked well whether we were heading out early or winding down late. Some rooms, including ours, had beautifully restored marble bathrooms and classic furniture that added to the overall charm.

Crowne Plaza Barranquilla by IHG

Best for Families. For what we paid, we definitely got a lot at Crowne Plaza Barranquilla by IHG. First, let’s talk about its fabulous location. This hotel is right next to a mall, which came in handy more than once. There’s a kids’ play area there, too, and we ended up taking our kid to play for a couple of hours while we relaxed a bit. Moreover, parking was free and private.

We stayed on the 10th floor and were in love with the room. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and the beds were comfortable enough that we slept like babies each night. Any time we called down for something, whether it was extra towels or help with anything, it showed up quickly without hassle. And if you’re in the city for both fun and work, you can book the One-Bedroom Worklife Suite.

One of our favorite parts of the hotel was the pool area. On Friday night, there was a DJ, and we couldn’t help but feel the rhythm while sipping piña coladas by the pool. Breakfast was a highlight, too. We had lots of variety, fresh food, and everything we tried tasted great. Finally, the hotel also has a fitness center and a hammam.
