Sitting right on the beach, Tortola’s Long Bay Beach Resort is surrounded by green hills and calm blue water, giving you that perfect island feel. Though everything felt laidback, we were still pampered by the luxurious boutique perks like spot-on service, stunning rooms, and never-ending activities.

Most of our days revolved around the beach and food, which is pretty much how a good vacation should go. The Beachside Restaurant served fresh, flavorful meals, and we loved grabbing coffee and snacks from the Beach Bar and Coffee Shop in between dips in the ocean. Towels, chairs, and cabanas were always available, so we never had to plan ahead.

The resort also offers a bunch of outdoor activities if you want to do more than lounge. We tried paddleboarding and snorkeling, and the staff were super helpful about getting us set up with gear. They can also arrange surfing lessons, yoga sessions, or even hiking and sailing trips if you’re feeling adventurous.

What stood out most was how effortless everything felt. The whole team was super attentive and helpful. They helped organize a organizing a guided island tour for us and even set up a last-minute massage in our suite. And when we didn’t feel like doing anything, we just stayed put and enjoyed the quiet.

We spent most afternoons down at the Beach Club, which you reach by golf cart. It’s a completely different scene. It’s casual, sunny, and right by the surf. We would grab loungers, order rum cocktails, and just watch the waves roll in. It was our favorite spot on the property to lose track of time. Hermitage Bay really does feel like a hidden paradise on Antigua’s quiet western coast. Set on a lush hillside surrounded by jungle and sea, we loved how peaceful it was. With just 30 cottages spread across the property, we never felt it was crowded. Each one is built from dark wood and opens onto ocean views, complete with a private plunge pool, terrace, and all the modern comforts you would want, like a cozy king-sized bed and a personalized minibar.

The restaurant, though, quickly became one of our favorite parts of the stay. The food was incredibly fresh, with ingredients grown right on the property and a menu that blended Caribbean and European flavors beautifully. We loved how casual yet refined it felt. Great food, great views, and no pretension!

When we weren’t eating or lounging by the pool, we leaned into the resort’s wellness vibe. The Garden Spa is a must, and the morning yoga sessions set the perfect tone for the day. We’re sure it won’t take you long to fall in love with Cobblers Cove Barbados. This resort has a lovely old-school charm. Think pale pink buildings, white trim, and pops of green from the gardens. The theme runs through everything, from the pink-and-white umbrellas to the pool floaties, and it somehow works perfectly without feeling over the top.

We got one of the suites, and it was bright, airy, and super comfortable. We had a king-sized bed and a veranda looking straight out to the ocean. The decor sticks to soft pinks, blues, and whites with wicker furniture. We really liked the little touches, too, such as the locally made toiletries and comfy robes.

Food-wise, Camelot, the hotel’s restaurant, was a real deal. We had dinner there more than once, and everything was consistently great, especially the fresh seafood. They also do a classic afternoon tea, which felt like a fun nod to the island’s British history. When we wanted to get out, the staff helped us organize activities like boat trips and rum tours, and there were plenty of options for water sports, horse riding, or just relaxing by the pool.

The resort focuses on sustainability, and that really shows in how it’s built and maintained. Dining was another highlight. There are two open-air restaurants that serve tasty Caribbean dishes using ingredients grown right on the plantation. The resort is still an active cocoa plantation, so there’s plenty of chocolate around. We joined the heritage tour to see how it’s made and, of course, taste a few samples. Additionally, because of the small spa, garden walks, and hiking trail with great views of Petit Piton, there was plenty to do without ever leaving the property.

Laluna Boutique Hotel & Villas

One highlight of our visit was a morning yoga session by the water, led by the resort’s wellness instructor. It was less about perfecting poses and more about taking a breath and being present. Best On-Site Dining. For such an amazing boutique retreat, Secret Bay loves to stay lowkey. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean, the villas are designed to be spread out just enough to give everyone their own slice of paradise. This boutique spot really captures what Dominica is all about: the perfect balance between lush green jungle and the deep blue sea.

The villas themselves blew us away with how they combine comfort and sustainability. They’re made from Guyanese hardwood, and the whole property was built by hand, without heavy machinery. Even so, everything feels modern and polished. Each villa has a private plunge pool, huge windows, Wi-Fi, streaming services, a Sonos system, and even a personal iPhone for communicating with the concierge. Wow! It’s relaxed and homey, but clearly designed for travelers who appreciate the finer things.

We also have to talk about the food. Zing Zing Restaurant does dinner with a fun twist. There’s no menu, so every night is a surprise based on what’s fresh that day! After staying at The Loren at Pink Beach, we can confidently say it lives up to the buzz. As the name suggests, this is a beachfront boutique hotel, but it’s much more than that. First, we loved how there were so many big open spaces that let the ocean views do the talking. No matter where we were, the views were always there.

We booked one of the suites, and it was huge! It came with floor-to-ceiling windows, a private terrace, and a bathroom that honestly could’ve doubled as a spa. And thanks to the Sonos sound system, the Nespresso machine, and the super soft SFERRA towels, it was hard for us to find a reason to leave the room.

However, the food definitely pulled us out. The Loren has a big focus on fresh, local ingredients, and you can taste it in every meal. The Pink Beach Club was our go-to for casual lunches. Think poke bowls, burgers, and pizzas, all done really well. Meanwhile, Marée Lounge made for a perfect dinner spot with great cocktails and ocean views.

Best Activities. If you’re looking for small luxury resorts in the Caribbean, you’ll definitely love Le Solel d’Or. Set on the southern coast of Cayman Brac, we spent a few nights there, and it was such a unique resort experience. The place revolves around its 20-acre farm, where they grow their own fruits and vegetables. We joined one of their horticultural tours and loved seeing where everything comes from. We even spotted the same ingredients in our meals at The Farm Restaurant. On top of that, there’s a small farmer’s market twice a week!

The property is spread out, but everything is an easy walk or quick bike ride away. In case you’re wondering — yes, the bikes are free to use, and we definitely took advantage of that. You don’t always have to venture out to have fun, though, as the resort boasts two swimming pools, a private beach, a fitness center, as well as a basketball and tennis court.

For our stay, we got the Deluxe King Room, which had all the little comforts that make travel easier. We were equipped with a Nespresso machine, a flat-screen TV, and daily housekeeping. We also spent our spare time at the Beach Club, which quickly became our favorite spot thanks to the oceanfront pool and beach bar. But if you want to splurge, check out Cherry Lime, one of the villas that comes with its own wraparound balcony.

Best Adults-Only. Matachica Beach Resort and Spa in Belize may be exactly the kind of adults-only getaway you’ve been dreaming of. The resort sits right by the sea, surrounded by calm and quiet, with the world’s second-largest barrier reef just offshore. It feels remote in the best way. Once we checked in, we could instantly tell the place was designed for people who just want to soak up nature without giving up comfort.

Our casita was definitely the highlight of the stay. Each one is a stand-alone bungalow, so you get plenty of privacy, and ours came with a huge bed, a walk-in shower, and a patio with a hammock, a.k.a. our go-to nap spot. The ocean view was unbeatable, and we loved the little details like the locally made bath products and colorful murals by artist Cécile Gariépy.

Even though it’s tucked away from everything, we never ran out of things to do. We spent a few mornings kayaking and snorkeling, and one afternoon getting massages at the Jade Spa. The Mayan Coffee Scrub was incredible! When it came to food, The Bistro was great for casual meals, but the real standout was Mambo Restaurant. Chefs Léon Carredo and Stephen Lighter serve up this really fun mix of French and Belizean dishes.
