Old Town Winter Park is a solid pick if you’re planning a ski trip—especially if you want to stay close to the action. Located just north and east of the resort, it’s super convenient, with most places just a short walk or quick shuttle ride to the ski lifts at Winter Park Resort.
What makes Old Town stand out is its quiet, cozy vibe. It’s not the busy downtown area, but we think that’s exactly the charm. We loved how it felt more like a residential neighborhood with a touch of history. When we were there, we were surrounded by a handful of local shops, restaurants, and art galleries.
And even though Old Town itself is a bit low-key when it comes to nightlife or dining options, getting around is easy. There’s a free shuttle called “The Lift” that takes you to downtown Winter Park, just a couple of miles away, where you’ll find more restaurants, bars, and things to do. Plus, with easy access to trails like the Fraser River Trail, you’ve got year-round activities like hiking, biking, and fishing right at your doorstep.
Winter Park Ski Haus
The Winter Park Ski Haus is the perfect choice for travelers with a group of friends. The house has a great mix of mountain comfort and artistic design. We also loved how we had plenty of space to hang out, play board games, and shoot pool upstairs. Every room had its own charm, and it never felt crowded, even with a full house.
The location was also a major plus for us. We were just a short walk to the slopes and base area, so we could easily ski back for lunch or head out without driving. After a day on the mountain, we loved relaxing in the private hot tub with mountain views. Moreover, the nearby train tracks added a bit of character. Some of us didn’t mind the sound, but light sleepers might want to bring earplugs!

Downtown is one of the best places to stay in Winter Park CO. It’s lively, walkable, and full of energy. When we were there, we could instantly find a mix of restaurants, bars, and one-of-a-kind shops that suit all kinds of tastes. The area really comes to life during the warmer months thanks to the Rendezvous Event Center at Hideaway Park, which hosts outdoor concerts and community events. It’s the kind of place where you can soak up the local vibe while enjoying good food, music, and company.
Staying downtown also makes things super convenient. We had easy access to essentials like grocery stores, the Grand Park Rec Center when we were in the mood for some exercise, and The Foundry, which has bowling and a movie theater for chill indoor fun. One of the biggest perks? Downtown is connected with Winter Park Resort and nearby towns like Fraser and Granby by The Lift, so you don’t even need a car to hit the slopes or explore the area.
Winter Park Chateau
When talking about downtown hotels, the Winter Park Chateau is a standout. This charming little boutique hotel has a cozy, homey vibe that made us feel instantly welcome. We booked the studio with mountain views, and it was perfect. The view alone was worth it, but having a washing machine, a mini-bar, and a super comfy bed made it even better.
The vibe of the whole place is laid-back but well taken care of, which we loved. There’s a co-working space if you need to get things done (a huge plus for us), a cozy lounge area, and even a hot tub. A communal kitchen is also available to rent if you want to cook. Parking was easy, and while they do have a minimum-stay policy, it’s definitely worth planning around. We’d definitely come back!

Best Western Alpenglo Lodge
Our stay at the Best Western Alpenglo Lodge was nothing short of fantastic. It’s in a super convenient spot. Right off Route 40 and just a few minutes from the ski resort, getting around was really easy. We stayed in the Vasquez Suite, and it was just what we needed. There were two queen Murphy beds that folded up when we didn’t need them, plus a comfy queen sleeper sofa. The room had plenty of space for all of us to relax, and we loved having a little food prep area with a microwave and fridge.
The extras really made our stay even better. Free parking and hot breakfast were definitely a plus, especially before a day on the slopes. The free shuttle to the ski resort was also super handy. We never had to worry about driving or parking! After skiing, we’d wind down in the hot tub or chill with a quick BBQ outside.

Staying right in Winter Park Resort‘s vicinity is super convenient if you’re here to ski or snowboard. One of the biggest perks? You’re basically right on the slopes. Many of the hotels in the area have ski-in/ski-out access or are just a short stroll to the lifts. Based on our past experiences, we were able to roll out of bed and hit the mountain in no time. After all, it’s one of the best resorts in Winter Park, Colorado.
But it’s not just about the skiing! Winter Park Village, located at the base of the resort, has a bunch of shops, restaurants, and bars, so you’ve got everything you need close by. It’s also a great spot for families, with fun activities like ice skating and snow tubing to keep everyone entertained off the slopes.
Getting around is easy, too. The Lift that takes you around Winter Park and Fraser, so you don’t really need your own car while you’re here.
The Vintage Hotel
When it comes to the best accommodations near the resort, we have to recommend The Vintage Hotel. We chose to stay at this hotel mainly because of its unbeatable location right at the entrance to Winter Park Resort. It’s a great spot whether you’re planning to hit the slopes in winter or explore the outdoors in the summer. The hotel also makes a great home base for venturing out to nearby natural attractions. The Rocky Mountain National Park is just a short drive away, with epic views, wildlife sightings, and some amazing hiking trails.
Our stay in the Lofted Studio was everything we wanted it to be. The layout was perfect for us, with a comfy sitting area downstairs (our dog loved napping there), a handy kitchenette for quick meals, and fast, free Wi-Fi. The highlight was definitely the lofted bedroom, which we reached by a fun spiral staircase. Between the hotel’s easy access to the Cabriolet lift, tasty on-site meals, and relaxing amenities like the heated pool and sauna, The Vintage really helped make our trip smooth, fun, and stress-free.

Zephyr Mountain Lodge
We had an awesome stay at Zephyr Mountain Lodge and couldn’t have asked for a better location. Being right at the base of the mountain, we were only about a four-minute walk from the Winter Park Resort ski lifts. Talk about the perfect quick ski-in/ski-out access. While Berthoud Pass is a bit farther away (around 11 miles), we spent most of our time enjoying the slopes right outside our door, so it wasn’t a big deal.
We stayed in a two-bedroom condo that had everything we needed for a cozy and convenient trip. The kitchen came in handy for whipping up a few meals, and the gas fireplace was perfect for warming up after a day in the snow. We also loved having a private balcony to unwind. The master bedroom was spacious, with a king-sized bed, a corner chair, a six-drawer chest, and a second TV. There was plenty of closet space and a private bathroom, which made things even more comfortable.
