The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai
6
Best Hidden Gem. Kicking off this list is The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai, Mexico’s hidden paradise. About 40 minutes from Cancun Airport, the resort is tucked inside the exclusive Kanai development. We opted for their private Suburban transfer, which made everything seamless. The resort is fairly secluded, with Playa del Carmen just under 30 minutes away. But honestly, we didn’t feel the need to venture far.

We spent our days lounging by the ocean-view pool, unwinding in the spa’s steam room, and starting mornings with yoga. The on-site dining and cocktails were spot-on, and the vibe throughout was quiet, calming, and deeply relaxing. For a nature-immersed luxury escape, the amenities here are extremely hard to beat.

We wanted the most luxurious experience we could afford, so we got the One-Bedroom King Suite with a Terrace and Plunge Pool. It was everything we hoped for—minimalist design, a private pool, and peaceful jungle views. Surrounded by 620 acres of mangroves and white-sand beaches, the property blends luxury with sustainability in a way that feels both intentional and effortless.

W Punta de Mita
5
Best Adults-Only. Situated right along a stretch of golden beach, W Punta de Mita is “the” destination for adults. We were just minutes from Sayulita and Marina La Cruz, but honestly, we didn’t feel the need to leave much, as everything we were looking for was right here. With the Marietas Islands just a short boat ride away and local artisan villages nearby, there’s no shortage of adventure either. But first, we had a mission: dive into vacation mode, ASAP.

Within minutes of check-in, we swapped our clothes for swimsuits and made a beeline for the adults-only pool. The pool sits right at the edge of the ocean with a sleek glass wall that gives it a super chic, Instagram-worthy look. We met people from California and Colorado, and suddenly, Champagne was flowing, and we were swapping travel stories like old friends. And the beach? Picture-perfect, with endless views across the Bay of Banderas and the open Pacific.

As for our room, we went with the Spectacular Escape King with a lake view, and it was such a vibe. The design was bold and quirky in the best way, mixing bright pops of color with traditional Mexican touches. We’d kick back on the patio in the evenings, drink in hand, watching the light change over the water. It felt private and peaceful, yet still totally connected to the playful energy of the resort.

The Westin Santa Fe
4
Best for Business. Mix work and leisure at The Westin Santa Fe! Nestled right in the heart of the city’s business district, the hotel gave us easy access to both the Santa Fe Convention Center and Centro Santa Fe, which is one of the largest malls in Latin America. We could go from meetings to shopping and dining in a matter of minutes. If you’re traveling for business or planning an event, the hotel also has a massive 12,000 sq ft space perfect for hosting all kinds of gatherings.

One of our favorite parts? The Westin Club Lounge. It was a productivity game-changer. We sipped coffee, grabbed snacks between Zoom calls, and enjoyed the evening wine and hors d’oeuvres with a view. We also had dinner at Market Kitchen, the on-site restaurant, and the locally sourced dishes were both comforting and creative. Of course, we also visited the Heavenly Spa by Westin, which lived up to its name, and we even squeezed in a sweat session at the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio.

Another highlight of our stay was our Deluxe King Corner Suite. We had plenty of space, and the panoramic views of the city made us pause more than once just to take it all in. We also loved the signature Westin plush bedding (so hard to get out of in the morning).

Royalton CHIC Cancun
3
Best for Couples. From the moment we landed in Cancun, everything about our trip felt easy, especially getting to Royalton CHIC Cancun. Just a quick 20-minute ride from the airport, we were checked in and sipping cocktails before the sun even started to set. The area around the hotel is lively and filled with beachy bars, restaurants, and shops. If you’re a couple who loves to explore a bit with margaritas involved, you’re in the right place.

Now, let’s talk about the vibe! It’s fun, loud, and unapologetically high-energy. This is not the place for a silent retreat, and honestly, that’s what we loved about it. With music pulsing through the day, an infinity pool that practically begs you to jump in, and that irresistible ocean breeze, it was impossible not to relax and let loose. Whether we were lounging poolside with drinks from the swim-up bar or dancing barefoot after dinner, the energy of the crowd made everything feel like a beach party.
We spent our nights in the Luxury Suite Sunset View, and it was absolutely worth it. The room was a little slice of luxury with its plush bed, modern finishes, and all the thoughtful details you’d expect. But the real showstopper? That sunset. Sitting on our balcony and watching the sky turn golden-orange over the lagoon was pure magic.

JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City Polanco
2
Best Luxury. For those who don’t want to settle for less, JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City Polanco is the place to be. Being in Polanco was a dream. We were just steps away from the National Auditorium and Chapultepec Park, which made it super easy to enjoy both nature and the city’s vibrant cultural scene. Plus, all the chic shopping and amazing restaurants nearby made exploring the neighborhood even better.
One of our favorite moments was grabbing a meal at Xanat, the hotel’s restaurant. We had a custom-made pizza that totally hit the spot, and the mix of Mexican and international flavors on the menu kept things exciting. When we weren’t out wandering around Polanco, we made the most of the hotel’s amenities, especially the spacious fitness center and the outdoor pool. The pool is tucked away on the 7th floor, and it’s such a calm escape from the city buzz.
“When it comes to a luxurious stay, JW Marriott is untouchable. This hotel gave us one of the best experiences in Mexico.”
WOW Travel

Finally, let’s talk about our Master Suite. It was on a high floor with sweeping views of the park, and it was even more spacious than we expected. What’s more, we had access to the Executive Lounge. The complimentary food and drinks throughout the day, from breakfast to late-night snacks, made our stay memorable. It honestly made the suite feel even more like a private retreat.

Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort
1
Best Resort. We were excited to check out Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort, especially since it’s the very first all-inclusive under the Marriott Hotels brand, launched in early 2024. We’d stayed at the old Marriott Cancun Resort years ago, so seeing how much it had been transformed was such a fun surprise. Everything felt brighter, more modern, and way more tailored to travelers looking for a no-fuss vacation where everything’s taken care of.

What we loved most was how versatile the resort felt. When we were there, families were enjoying the dedicated kids-only Camp Club, while groups of friends and couples were sipping cocktails at the swim-up bar or relaxing at the adults-only pool. The water park added a splash of fun for all ages, and with direct beach access, we bounced between lounging poolside and strolling barefoot on the sand pretty effortlessly.
As one of the best Marriott resorts in Mexico, we wanted the best experience. Hence, we booked the Executive Suite, and honestly, we didn’t want to leave. The room was sleek and spacious, but the lovely private balcony with ocean views was the true highlight. We spent our mornings sipping coffee out there and evenings winding down to the sound of waves.

Where to Stay in Mexico
One of our favorite places in Mexico is Riviera Maya. It’s perfect for beach lovers and laid-back vibes. Think: white sand beaches, cenotes, eco-chic resorts, and ancient ruins. Places like Playa del Carmen offer nightlife and walkability, while Tulum is more boho-luxury and eco-conscious.
However, if you’re craving culture, food, and art, Mexico City is unbeatable. Stay in Polanco for luxury and high-end hotels, Roma Norte or Condesa for trendy cafes, walkability, and a hip local vibe. It’s a cultural capital that somehow feels both global and deeply Mexican.
Then, there’s Los Cabos. This municipality is great for travelers who want dramatic desert-meets-ocean views, upscale resorts, golfing, and boat tours. Cabo San Lucas is lively and social, while San José del Cabo has a more relaxed, artsy atmosphere. Whether you’re here for deep-sea fishing, golf, or lounging by the infinity pool with a margarita in hand, Los Cabos delivers big on views and luxury.
