Our first recommendation is Sol Plaza Hotel. This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the city, just steps from the main square. Thanks to this, we could explore nearly everything on foot. And every time we were back at the hotel, we could help ourselves to tea, herbal infusions, and even coca leaves, which was very thoughtful of the hotel.
Our room was a bit old-school in style, but it was spacious, spotless, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The bed was comfy, there was a safe for our valuables, and we never felt cramped. The bathroom was larger than expected, too, and we loved having a shower inside the bathtub.
Breakfast was another thing that we enjoyed. The buffet was yummy and definitely above average by Peruvian standards, with enough variety and good-quality options to fuel us for a full day of sightseeing. All things considered, Sol Plaza Hotel offers excellent value for money. It’s clean, well-located, comfortable, and reliable.

Kaaro Hotel Puno

We spent two nights at Kaaro Hotel Puno, and it was better than we expected. We arrived at the hotel extremely early in the morning, but the staff were amazing. They checked us in quickly so we could crash straight away, and they even gave us a slightly later checkout so we could squeeze in a bit more sleep.
Location-wise, you really can’t beat it. The hotel sits right next to Puno Cathedral and just steps from the main plazas, so wandering the city was super easy for us. We also booked our Lake Titicaca tour directly through the hotel and were surprised by how affordable and well-organised it was.
On our final day, we didn’t leave Puno until our 10 PM night bus, and once again, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They let us use their storage room all day and encouraged us to relax in the common areas whenever we needed a break. Best Budget. Don’t count Casona Plaza Balsa Inn out just because it’s a budget hotel. This simple hotel is strategically positioned just steps from the iconic San Antonio Church. Whenever we walked outside, we were always surrounded by local life, colorful streets, and that unmistakable high-altitude buzz.
Inside, the hotel feels warm and full of character. Our room blended traditional touches with modern comforts, and it was honestly cozy. Though our bed wasn’t that big, it was super comfy and put us to sleep in mere seconds. We also made a point to eat at the on-site restaurant, which turned out to be a highlight. We had simple, flavorful local dishes that gave us a real taste of the region.
In the evenings, we gravitated toward the bar, which is perfect for winding down with a drink. The views are a bonus, but what really stood out was the staff. They were attentive and always happy to help with tips or directions. For the price, this place surely exceeded our expectations.

Getting there was simple, and we loved that the hotel could arrange transfers if you needed them. One of the biggest highlights was having direct access to the lake, complete with a private pier where boat tours set off.
The hotel is modern and spacious, and every room comes with a stunning view of the lake. Waking up to that deep blue water and wide-open sky never gets old. This hotel is great for families, too. There are Triple Rooms that boast three comfy beds, easily accommodating up to six people.
We also appreciated how much the hotel offers on-site. There’s a gym, a restaurant, and a bar for relaxed meals and evening drinks, and even conference spaces, though the real star is the private dock. Being able to head straight out onto Lake Titicaca from the hotel felt exclusive and memorable.

Best Remote Location. Unlike some of the best hotels in Puno Peru, Titilaka by Andean isn’t in the heart of the city. This award-winning hotel is about an hour from the train station, but the extra drive is completely worth it. What you get in return is a jaw-dropping location, as the lodge sits on its own promontory above Lake Titicaca, with wide-open views that make sunrise and sunset feel like a private show just for you. It’s quiet, remote, and incredibly scenic.
We spent a lot of time in the restaurant and bar, mostly because the terrace views are hard to leave. Sipping a drink while looking out over the lake quickly became an activity we looked forward to every single day. The team was welcoming, and the food and cocktails were consistently good. We had the Deluxe King Room, and it was super modern. The bathroom, though, was a standout. Nothing beats soaking in a tub with lake views.

We also recommend Hotel Qalasaya, a humble hotel with a fantastic location. By staying here, you’re close enough to walk to the dock where the tourist boats leave. We found it super convenient for early starts, but you’re also right near the town center. We loved the fact that we could step outside and choose from tons of nearby restaurants, cafés, and bars without having to plan transportation.
One of our favorite parts of the stay was starting the day with breakfast on the 10th floor, looking out over the harbor. The view was beautiful and made our mornings feel a bit more special. There’s also a bar on the 11th floor, which is a great spot to wind down later with a drink and more city-and-lake views.
Since we wanted to splurge, we booked the Executive Suite. The shower had seriously hot water, which is a big plus in chilly Puno, along with nice towels. There was also a proper desk for getting some things done, and the bed was just right. It wasn’t too firm, not too soft, and clearly in good shape.

Best Luxury. Sonesta Posadas del Inca Puno is one of the rare properties that sits on the shores of Lake Titicaca, and our experience there was nothing but pleasant. Once we arrived, the staff treated us with smiles, and the personal attention made the whole place feel welcoming. The common areas, like the restaurant, bar, and terrace, are extremely cozy, perfect for winding down after exploring the area.
We spent more time than expected just enjoying the hotel itself. The terrace overlooking the lake became our go-to spot for sunset drinks, and the spa was a much-needed after travel days. Dining at Inkafé was another highlight. Being right by the water while sampling Peruvian classics alongside international dishes was one of the most luxurious experiences we had at that time.
One thing we truly appreciated, especially on our first day, was how prepared the hotel is for altitude. The rooms come equipped with oxygen, and medical assistance is available if needed, which gave us real peace of mind. Best of all, thanks to the private dock, we could easily arrange a visit to the Uros floating islands, one of the most amazing artificial islands in the world.

If you want to be in the middle of the action, you’ll love spending your nights at Hotel Hacienda Puno Centro Histórico. Being just a short block from the Main Square and the Cathedral, we could step outside and instantly feel the pulse of the city. For a central spot like this, it was nice to have both free Wi-Fi and private parking, which made things easy whether we were uploading photos or coming back from a day trip by car.
We booked the Double Room, and everything we needed was there. It was properly soundproofed, and we loved having huge windows for natural light as well. We also ended up eating at the hotel restaurant more than once, partly out of convenience, but mostly because the menu had a mix of local flavors and familiar international dishes.
Mornings started off on the right foot thanks to the complimentary breakfast, which saved us time and helped fuel our walking adventures around town. Most of the main sights were easily reachable on foot, and the staff were always happy to point us in the right direction.

Best Views. Set among wetlands, low islands, and eucalyptus trees, GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca looks straight out over the lake, and the views are to die for. From its west-facing position, the sunrise spills across the water as early as 5 AM, turning the lake silver and gold. Puno is close enough for easy trips. It took us about 15 minutes by taxi.
The staff were friendly and professional throughout, which made the stay even smoother. We also took advantage of the amenities, like the gym, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. We enjoyed the relaxed bar with its pool table, too. Food was another plus point, with local specialties like alpaca and lamb, a good wine selection, and a strong breakfast featuring made-to-order eggs, herbal teas, pastries, dried fruit, and gluten-free options.
Our Standard Double Room was comfortable and a decent size, styled simply with white walls, green carpet, dark wood touches, and local artwork. There was good storage, a pair of armchairs, and everything we needed. The east-facing rooms are the real prize, though, with a full wall of windows overlooking the lake.

Best Value for Money. If you’re visiting Puno for Lake Titicaca, Casa Andina Premium Puno couldn’t be better placed for that. The hotel sits right on the water, with front-row views of flamingos wading around and fishing boats gently bobbing by. Downtown Puno is an easy 10-minute taxi ride, but once we arrived, we were perfectly happy staying put and soaking in the stillness.
Casa Andina was designed for relaxation and staring out at the highest navigable lake in the world. There’s a small massage room on the ground floor with a menu of treatments, though you’ll need to plan ahead and book the day before. Throughout our stay, the staff were consistently polite and welcoming. Dining-wise, the on-site restaurant, Alma, delivered comforting Peruvian dishes with a local twist. We loved the trout ceviche, which tasted impossibly fresh.
Moreover, our Superior Room felt so in line with the Casa Andina aesthetic: clean white walls, dark wood furniture, and thoughtful local touches. Plus, being on the second floor, we had a charming little balcony overlooking the terracotta-tiled roof below. Finally, the bathroom was spacious, with a big mirror and a practical tub-shower combo.
