Craigievar Guest House
11
The Craigievar Guest House is the first option on our list, with a location far from the airport by around two kilometers. However, the location isn’t the only thing that urged us to try this place. First of all, it’s a holiday home, so expect a home-like experience inside. Edinburgh is actually full of similar accommodation styles, but not all of them are that great. However, this property didn’t fail to amaze us at our first stay in Edinburgh. If you’re a couple who loves to experience new things, this guest house is perfect for you. It’s clean and modern inside, so you won’t miss the experience of romantic hotels in Edinburgh.
On the other side, it has a large garden that invites you to hike and spend much of the day between the trees and flowers. Further, the house is large, with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. When it was time to start our adventures in Edinburgh’s city center, we easily reached the bus station nearby.

The South Maybury Residence

What a feeling of serenity we had once we entered our apartment in The South Maybury Residence. Yes, it’s an apartment, not a typical hotel room. Inside our apartment, we had a kitchen equipped with all the necessities to cook meals every day so we could save our money for something else rather than expensive restaurants around. Also, the bathroom had towels and toiletries. Hence, we didn’t need to bring any of these staff to stay there.
The venue is very popular among families. We now know why, as it includes hotel amenities but in a clean and cozy apartment. Further, we can easily say it’s a spacious place to stay in if you hate small hotel rooms. And we didn’t pay a lot, considering it’s a complete apartment. It even had a flat TV screen where we could stream our favorite movies on Netflix.

The Bridge Inn

We didn’t need to go here and there to try the local cuisine of Scotland as The Bridge Inn has an on-site restaurant serving the best local dishes we tasted here. Apart from the food, this hotel is recommended by many travelers because of its location and rates. Further, the rooms are very clean and wide enough to feel convenient throughout your stay. Moreover, the staff are so helpful, trying to find solutions to all our inquiries. We had an early flight on the day we were leaving, so it was impossible to wait for breakfast. When we told the staff about the issue, they suggested preparing a takeaway breakfast box for all of us. Also, they suggested calling us a taxi instead of taking the train at that time in the morning to reach our flight early.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Edinburgh

Best on-site activities. Indulge yourself in such an amazing experience inside Delta Hotels by Marriott Edinburgh. This hotel has all that it takes for superb accommodation in one of the best hotels in Edinburgh. Only five minutes away from the airport, there are many reasons to choose this one above the others rather than the location. For us, we wanted to experience a luxurious stay during the couple of nights we spent here in Edinburgh. Luckily, our nights were full of different things to do. First, we couldn’t resist trying the large swimming pool more than once and lounging by the pool for a couple of hours. Next, the leisure club could change our mood totally, whether by relaxing in the sauna or treating ourselves with a massage. Also, the on-site restaurant has a wide variety of food options that encouraged us to eat in the hotel itself every day.

Craigiehall Temple

If you plan to stay here at Craigiehall Temple, you have to book as soon as possible because it’s a one-suite stay in Edinburgh! Like no other airport hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, this accommodation looks like an old temple with historical engravings on the walls. Inside, we were taken by the old-looking furniture and interior in general. For a change and a unique experience, this house will be our number one choice. In addition to the location, the house has many amenities similar to hotels. It doesn’t have a kitchen, so we had to go to nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner. However, we didn’t take too much time to reach some of the popular restaurants nearby. The owners of the property helped us with the choice, and they were so friendly. Filled with joy, we left the temple to reach the airport in less than 10 minutes.

Best affordable accommodation. A stay at Ibis Budget Hotel will save you a lot of money while you’re still enjoying a great location and acceptable accommodation. While it isn’t the most luxurious hotel ever, it has all that we needed on our trip, from traditional services and basic amenities. It’s pretty close to the airport and also close to Edinburgh Park train station. So, we could use public transportation to visit all the places we planned to visit. Here is our list of the top places to visit in Edinburgh.
With the guests’ convenience in mind, the hotel offers vending machines that work all day to get snacks and drinks whenever you want. There is a restaurant on-site, yet, it offers complimentary breakfast only. Living up to its name, the hotel is a budget-friendly option for those looking for a good stay at the cheapest price possible without losing too many facilities.

Castle Gogar Cottage

The Castle Gogar Cottage isn’t the traditional hotel we’re used to in all our travels. Instead, it’s a guest home that takes us back in time to the 16th century with its amazing medieval style and furniture. The cottage is located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, around ten minutes away from the airport. The place looks so historical and old from the outside, yet, inside, the bedroom and bathroom are expensively furnished. Our home had a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, microwave, and a fridge. We could stay here for weeks and maybe months as we have everything in this home-like stay. Further, the castle is within walking distance from the nearest tram station. We could move around and explore more of the historical Edinburgh city via tram. When it was late at night, we enjoyed our stay on the large terrace of our castle.

Holiday Inn Express

Holiday Inn Express is the same high-level hotel in all the countries around the world. It’s a popular hotel that strives to offer its guests the best experience any traveler could ask for, especially for those looking for easy transportation to and from the airport like us. Located 10 minutes walk from the airport, it’s one of the closest high-end options to consider. Yet, you don’t have to walk because there is a 24/7 ongoing airport shuttle service at a minimum price.
By staying here, you’ll enjoy a spacious bedroom and toilet that are kept clean every day by the dedicated and experienced housekeeping staff. While enjoying your breakfast at the large restaurant, your room will be re-equipped with the high-end toiletries they use and clean towels and bed sheets. Want a way to spend your night? The bar is the perfect spot where you can enjoy fresh drinks and night snacks as well.
“The location and the shuttle service were the main pick ups for us. Also, the friendly staff encouraged us to repay this hotel a visit once more. Thanks for the accommodation!”

DoubleTree by Hilton

Best for amenities. Finding a good airport hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, that rises up to the expectations and sits at a good location isn’t impossible, as we found DoubleTree by Hilton. This famous hotel chain has nothing to offer but the best. The location can’t get any better as it’s a couple of minutes drive, and they do have a free shuttle service. The bus moves to and from the hotel every 20 minutes from 3 a.m. until 10 a.m., so early flights aren’t a problem anymore.
As a high-standard hotel, there are many reasons to urge you not to leave the hotel and enjoy your stay all day and night. First, we filled our tummies with the Scottish restaurant The Space, which offers delicious steaks as a signature plate. We had a few laps in the indoor pool and then rewarded ourselves at the end of the day with a visit to the beauty salon. We didn’t have the chance to try the fitness center, but we will do it next time as we learned it has a sauna and different aerobic classes.

Moxy Edinburgh Airport

Best for a short stay. We couldn’t end this list of the best airport hotels in Edinburgh, Scotland, without mentioning Moxy Edinburgh Airport. This hotel is one of the nearest to the airport, a walking distance from the airport to the hotel. So, location is one of the favorable things to all the guests of Moxy Hotel. For us, we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable hotel offering a standard-level experience for a short stay.
For a three-star hotel, the services we received were more than enough. We had a room with a private bathroom that included toiletries, a TV, WiFi, and clean bed linens. The on-site restaurant was a surprise to us because the breakfast included too many options. Even our vegetarian friends could find something mouth-watering to eat at this small restaurant. To unwind a little bit, we stayed at the comfy seatings in the lounge area. They’re so inviting to sit, relax, and have some chitchat.

Hampton By Hilton

We didn’t need to ask for airport shuttle services or any kind of rides because we were actually staying at the airport! Hampton By Hilton is an airport-based hotel where you need to walk a few minutes to reach the airport halls. If you don’t have much luggage, no need for any rides. This was the first thing we were looking for, but we also wanted to receive the minimum services and have basic amenities in our room to make sure it was a worthy hotel.
To our luck, the hotel was beyond our expectations. The breakfast was so delicious that we never wanted to miss it and try any of the nearby restaurants. Further, there were food offerings all day. We could order anything from the menu 24/7. We stayed in a queen room that had all the standard amenities, including very clean sheets and towels. The bathroom was very spacious and convenient, just like the room itself. Family rooms are also a great option for large groups who want to stay connected but have separate rooms when it’s time to sleep.

Where To Stay Near Edinburgh Airport
Apart from hotels inside the airport itself as Hampton, there are other places you can stay in and catch your early flights as well. North of the airport at Queensferry, a small town near Edinburgh, there are a couple of options that are way cheaper than staying in Edinburgh. The options there are various, and some of the hotels have very overwhelming views. Another option is to go closer to the city’s center. You don’t have to stay in the city center itself to easily reach restaurants and other tourist spots. Edinburgh isn’t a large city, and the transportation means there cover most of the city. So, staying in the city’s outskirts is a good option too.
