Bowline Hotel
11
With Astoria located along the Columbia River, it’s only fair that we start the list with the Bowline Hotel. This fantastic pet-friendly hotel boasts a fantastic riverfront view and a hip modern-industrial aesthetic. On top of that, the hospitality was unquestionably amazing. The pet policy allowed us to have our fur babies with us with only a $50 fee per pet, per stay. While we only had two pups with us, you can bring up to four pets (cats or dogs) per room, with no size restriction.
Other than that, we simply loved our guest room. Continuing the hotel’s industrial vibe, our room featured concrete flooring, a fireplace, and a balcony overlooking the water. Additionally, the room’s mod-cons like the French press, and mini-fridge, only added to our convenience. And like other pet-friendly rooms in the hotel, ours was also on the first floor for easier access to the exit. Plus, the hotel allows for our pets unattended in the room, provided they’re well-behaved.
Furthermore, the hotel’s location put us along Astoria Riverwalk, ensuring scenic walks everywhere we go with our dogs. There were also free bike rents, so we got to bike around Astoria with our pups safely tucked in their pouch. When we were not out, the hotel’s on-site cafe, The Knot Bar, makes the perfect place to hang out and enjoy both the view and the delectable menu they offer. Another thing, the hotel also has a sauna room for the ultimate pampering experience. Lastly, since the hotel sits on a dock, we were pleasantly surprised to sometimes have sea lions as fellow guests of the hotel (they reside under the dock, of course).

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Astoria, an IHG Hotel

We like to take comfort in familiar things, and with how many times we’ve stayed at Holiday Inn hotels, we know what to expect with Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Astoria, an IHG Hotel. Although admittedly, this time our expectations were exceeded, especially since the hotel’s location couldn’t be any better. We directly overlook the Columbia River and are adjacent to the historic Riverwalk and Riverfront Trolley. To top it off, the pet policy is accommodating to both cats and dogs of all sizes, so we had no problem bringing our cats with us. Granted, there’s a pet fee, but it’s an affordable $20 per pet, per night.
Beyond that, we were fully satisfied with our experience. The staff was excellent in making sure we were comfortable. After helping us have a smooth check-in, they then escorted us to our pet-friendly with the best natural lighting, just like how our cat likes. The room itself, while not the most modern-looking, was still cozy, with amenities including a microwave, mini-fridge, and a TV. As for the rest of the hotel, we always love a free hot breakfast, and a time dipping in the hotel’s heated indoor pool. Other than that the hotel offered us other conveniences like a fitness center, a business center, and free parking.

Atomic Motel

Donning a mid-century theme, staying at the Atomic Motel was like opening a time capsule. The motel is adorned with everything 50s era. Besides the fun decor and furnishing, the hotel as a whole is great. For starters, it’s located on Marine Drive, and only a few steps away from Fort George Beer Pier, one of our favorite pet-friendly restaurants in the area. The staff were great, and quick to make both us and our dog feel welcome. It also helped that the pet policy is so straightforward. While we only had one dog with us, the hotel allows up to two dogs of any size, for $20 per pet, per night.
That said, it was apparent that the hotel is good with pets since we were provided with ample green space and waste bags for our dog. Plus, we weren’t the only guests with a furry buddy, which proves that other pet parents also approve of the Atomic Hotel. Beyond that, when it came to hospitality, we couldn’t ask for more. Our room was fantastic, and like the rest of the motel, it also had the 50s theme to it. It might not be very big, but as long as we and our dog got to comfortably settle down, we’re good. Additionally, we always enjoy the hotel’s freebies, and we got breakfasts, and a free parking space. The hotel’s lounge also made the best place to hang out with our pup when weren’t out and about.

Hampton Inn & Suites Astoria

Having been to other Hampton hotels before, staying at Hampton Inn& Suites Astoria was an easy choice for us. It was a no-brainer decision especially knowing the hotel’s pet policy made sure that we got to bring our furry buddy with us. Granted, we were only allowed two pets (cats or dogs) up to 50 lbs, per room, but it was a standard policy. As for the pet fee, it was $75 for stays of 1 to 4 nights and $125 for longer stays.
Furthermore, we especially liked that the hotel’s central location made it easy to explore Astoria. Not only is it right along the Columbia River, but we were also right across Pier 39 Astoria, with all of its waterfront dining glory. Plus, the Riverfront Trolley passes by the hotel, so we did get to check out all the famous spots in Astoria.
Now, our experience with the hotel itself was nothing short of satisfactory. The staff were as usual, super attentive, and always provided us with waste bags for our dogs whenever we needed them. Beyond that, we loved our river-facing room, with all its comfort and amenities. The balcony was our favorite place for relaxation, other than the hotel’s indoor pool. Lastly, we enjoyed the extra amenities like the fitness center, free breakfast, and free parking. It made our stay extra convenient.

Best Western Columbia River Waterfront Hotel Astoria

Best Western Columbia River Waterfront Hotel Astoria while not smack-dabbed in the middle of downtown Astoria, it’s still on the riverwalk and offers a nice view of the river. The riverfront trolley also passes the hotel, so we were able to catch a ride downtown pretty easily. That aside, the hotel is also within walking distance to Pier 39 for various dining options.
Beyond its location, the hotel provides us with exceptional hospitality. Their pet policy, for starters, allows 2 dogs of any size for an additional fee of $20 per pet, per night. As for the guest rooms, they have standard rooms and suites. We opted for the standard room, which was comfortable and spacious enough for us and our dog. The mod-cons include a mini-fridge and a coffee maker.
Additionally, for facilities, we had access to the fitness center and heated indoor pool. Although, we had to take turns to check them out since our dogs weren’t allowed unattended. The hotel’s free breakfast was surprisingly some of the best we’ve had. And to add to our convenience, the hotel provided us with free parking.

Lloyd Hotel Astoria Bayfront

Located in Uniontown, the Lloyd Hotel Astoria Bayfront boasts a riverfront location and top-notch hospitality. The hotel is also only a walking distance to the Astoria Riverfront Trolley and a few minutes’ drive to downtown. The area also has several pet-friendly cafes and breweries that we’d often go to with our dogs. Although, in the morning, we never miss out on the hotel’s free hot breakfast to make the most of our stay.
That said, the hotel itself gave us the height of comfort. While it wasn’t the most modern hotel, it still provided all the things we needed. For starters, the pet policy made it possible for us to have our dogs with us. Granted, there were a few caveats including, an 80 lb size cap, and restrictions for Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, and wolf-hybrid breeds.
Aside from that, everything was smooth sailing for us. After making sure our dogs met the hotel’s criteria, the staff quickly helped us settle into our room. We easily made ourselves at home, and our dogs were given treats and waste bags. As for our room, it was perfectly comfortable and had enough room for us and our two dogs. Additionally, the hotel also has an indoor pool and a fitness center for us to enjoy.

Astoria Riverwalk Inn

Best location. As the name suggests, Astoria Riverwalk Inn is located along the riverwalk that spans the length of the city, making Astoria super accessible, and walkable. It meant that by staying here, we were guaranteed a scenic trail to walk our pups every day. But, beyond that, Astoria Riverwalk Inn is also located right on the West Marina. So, not only do we get to have a view of the river, but also the many rows of boats from our room’s balcony, setting the perfect waterfront escapade.
Although of course, all of these would be for nothing if it wasn’t for the hotel’s dog-friendly policy that enabled us to stay here. Guests, like us, are permitted to bring up to 3 dogs of any size, for a budget-friendly fee of $15 per pet, per night. If that wasn’t great enough, our pup was also provided with a doggie bag filled with treats, and waste bags.
Moreover, the hotel is fortunately as accommodating as its pet policy. The friendly staff was able to secure us with a marina view room, and we got to enjoy free continental breakfast every day, access to the fitness center, and a free parking spot. Overall, our experience here was an easy stress-free one with our dog.

Commodore Hotel
4
The Commodore Hotel offers a prime location, a rich history, and a pet-friendly accommodation. It’s housed in a historical building established in 1925, and seamlessly combines antique charm with modern amenities, reflecting its historic roots. What’s more, the downtown location makes it just a block from the shore and popular hiking trails, ideal for us and our adventure-loving dogs. And since the hotel offers bike rents, we had no problem checking out all the nearby shops and restaurants when we were not hitting the touristy spots.
Now, the hotel itself exudes a cozy vibe to it. We especially enjoyed the library lounge with its DVD collections, a boutique vintage clothing rack, and community guitar, making it an excellent place to chill with our dog and meet other guests. The hotel also has a cafe, the Broder Strand, where we’d get of daily coffee fix. Besides that, for breakfast, we got à la carte meal options.
As for the guest rooms, we opted for the en-suite room since we had our dog with us. But it’s worth noting that the hotel offers guest rooms with shared bathrooms at a lower price point. That said, our room was everything we wanted it to be. It was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The wooden flooring was an added convenience for easy clean up after our dog. Plus, our dog was given a dog bed, and treats, from the accommodating staff. Lastly, both we and our dog got to enjoy all of this excellent hospitality thanks to the hotel’s pet policy that welcomes up to two dogs of any size. There is a pet fee, but it was a flat $30 per stay, so it was still a good deal.

Clementine’s Guest House & Vacation Rentals
3
Best guest room. Located in the center of Astoria’s National Historic District, Clementine’s Guest House & Vacation Rentals is hands down the coziest and most unique B&B we’ve been to. It sits on a restored 1888 Victorian inn with a garden, a terrace, and a shared lounge. While the ideal location allowed us to just walk around the beautiful historic neighborhood, and get to the Colorado River bank easily, the inn’s individually decorated rooms were the star feature.
“Believe us when we say that entering the inn was like walking into a Beatrice Potter book. It was like both us and our dog were main characters in a children story book.”
WOW Travel
All around us were eclectic antique decors that set up the inn’s cozy and fairytale-like atmosphere. The hospitality was also akin to the hotel’s aesthetic. The innkeeper warmly attended to us and our dog, giving him scratches and treats. Paired with the kind welcomes was an even more accommodating pet policy. Guests were allowed to have two pets for a flat $35 fee per pet, throughout the stay.
Furthermore, there are two options for pet-friendly rooms in the inn, there’s the Riverview Loft or Moose Lodge Suites. We opted for the loft, and it was incredible. It has the same charming and idyllic decor like the rest of the inn, and features a balcony overviewing the lake. We got amenities like a coffee maker, with chocolates and fresh fruits for freebies. Our dog also got thick blankets to sleep on, courtesy of the staff.

Norblad Hotel

Best value for money. For a hotel that sits on a historical 1920s building, the Norblad Hotel perfectly blends comfort and style. We were thoroughly impressed by how seamlessly the hotel was restored, complete with its modern mid-century aesthetic, and impressive art pieces. While the hotel’s downtown location couldn’t be more ideal for exploring Astoria, we also enjoyed just hanging out at the hotel’s common areas. The lounge features cozy seats, a fireplace, and a big selection of vinyl records for us to enjoy. It suffices to say we spent a lot of downtime with our dog here.
Furthermore, the hotel offers various options for its guest rooms. While we had the suite, the hotel ‘cabin’ rooms offered a budget-friendly alternative with shared bathrooms and kitchen space. There are also bigger suites with a private kitchen. For our smaller suite though, it only had a private bathroom, and a cozy sofa. Our dog also got his dog bed, towel, and water bowls, and dog bed. As for the pet policy, the hotel allows 2 dogs up to 40 lbs for an additional fee of $20 per pet, per stay.

Cannery Pier Hotel and Spa

Overall best. For the ultimate waterfront experience, we couldn’t recommend Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa enough. The hotel sits on a pier that’s located 600 feet into the Columbia River. Every room here comes with a balcony looking into the water, so every day we got to enjoy watching the scenic view and boats pass by us. The experience was made even better with the hotel allowing our dogs to stay with us, for only a $25 fee per pet, per night, with no size and breed restrictions.
That said, our days here were the most relaxed we’ve ever been on the trip. Our room was beyond excellent. We got the suite and it had an obstructed view of the river and came with a claw-foot tub. There was also a comfy sofa, and our dog was given a dog bed, treats, and a water bowl.
Even though we weren’t allowed to leave our dogs unattended, we still managed to thoroughly enjoy the freebies we were offered. We made sure to make the most of our daily spa access, the $25 coupon to the hotel’s Bar 600, and our daily free breakfast. Additionally, the hotel also provides free parking, and EV charging stations, for our convenience. All in all, this was a 10/10 experience, and you’d have to be here to see it for yourself.
