While the CheapOair Travel Protection Plan is plenty generous, it’s important to note that it does have certain exclusions, meaning it won’t cover losses caused by certain events. There was one time when one of our team members injured himself when he was mountaineering, but it couldn’t be covered since it was considered a high-risk sport. Below are the exclusions:

- Acts of war or terrorism

- Participation in dangerous activities

How much does the CheapOair Travel Protection Plan cost?

The cost of CheapOair Trip Protection varies depending on several factors, including the length and cost of the trip. Last month, we purchased flights and a hotel for our upcoming two-night trip to Paris from New York next year. The total base price of our flights and hotel was 932.40 USD. However, since we decided to add a travel protection plan, we had to pay an additional amount of 54.80 USD. One may say it’s pricey, but for that additional safety, we didn’t mind paying the extra cost.

How to claim the protection?

Claiming the CheapOair travel protection benefits is easy. We’ve done this a few times, and we never had any problems. All we had to do was prepare all the necessary documents to support our claim, which included a copy of our travel insurance policy, proof of the covered event (in our case, the flight cancellation information), receipts for any expenses incurred due to the covered event, as well as the completed claim form.
To file your claim online, you can visit TripMate or contact customer service at 1-844-777-6859. Based on our experience, the online claim form is easier and faster to do. Just upload the supporting documents, and you’re done. But if you have questions and need answers in real-time, filing by phone may be the better choice.
Once we were done submitting our claim, it was then reviewed, and we waited for only one business day on the status of our claim via email. You should note that the processing time can vary depending on the complexity of our claim.
