Walking into the Empire Hotel felt like a journey to a chic 1960s New York City lounge. The Art Deco entrance warmly greeted us at the Upper West Side gateway. Our stylish room with Art Deco décor, geometric designs, and plush bedding created a soothing atmosphere, while the deluxe C.O. Bigelow bathroom amenities added a touch of luxury. Then, evenings were magical at the 12th-floor rooftop bar and lounge. The panoramic views of the city skyline were stunning, and the iconic neon “Hotel Empire” sign made for a perfect photo op. In the summer, lounging by the rooftop pool was a rare treat in the Upper West Side.

Best budget. We chose to stay at Fairfield Inn & Suites Manhattan because of its simplicity. We’re already familiar with the hotel chain, and everything is straightforward. The location is unbeatable. Iconic destinations like the Javits Center, Rockefeller Center, Penn Station, and Grand Central were all within easy walking distance. Central Park and Bryant Park offered peaceful green spaces nearby, while the luxurious Hudson Yards were just a short stroll away.
Coming back to our spacious, pristine room was always a pleasure. Equipped with a generous workspace, high-speed WiFi, and a Smart TV, it had everything we needed for relaxation or productivity. Each morning, the complimentary breakfast was a great start, featuring a variety of hot and continental options. Most historic. Ink 48 Hotel blends historical charm and contemporary style. Housed in a former 1930s theatrical printing press, the hotel seamlessly combines its storied past with modern elegance. We had stunning views of the Manhattan skyline and Hudson River from here. Breakfast was excellent, with grab-and-go items available in the lobby. This was ideal for a quick start to the day before exploring Hudson Yards and the Javits Center nearby.
We picked the King Room on the 6th floor, which was stylish and super comfy. The room featured a sumptuous king-sized bed with soft 300-thread-count linens that made for incredibly restful nights. The 40-inch flat-screen TV with on-demand movies was perfect. Also, a bistro table in the sitting area was perfect for morning coffee. The bathroom was stocked with C.O. Bigelow toiletries.

Best boutique. The Belvedere Hotel’s stunning 1920s Art Deco architecture set a refined atmosphere, but the modern conveniences made staying here enjoyable. Our room was spacious, complete with a handy kitchenette. Mornings began with the inviting aroma of fresh coffee, courtesy of the hotel’s complimentary service.
