Hassle-free check-in

We’d heard nothing but good things about Qatar’s business class, so it didn’t take long for us to plan our first business class flight with the airline. Our flight was from LAX to DOH, and we were honestly super excited to fly an A350-1000. Our flight was 15 hours and 35 minutes long, but it didn’t feel that long since (spoiler!) the business class was superb. Qatar Airways flights departing from LAX typically operate from the Tom Bradley International Terminal. We arrived at LAX around noon and quickly went to the Qatar Airways check-in counter to get our boarding passes. Overall, we were pleased with the check-in process as it was pretty straightforward and efficient. We also loved the business class Qatar Airways baggage allowance, which allowed us to bring up to 40kg of checked baggage. We also got our printed boarding passes in no time. Also, since Qatar Airways is a TSA PreCheck partner, we were able to take advantage of the expedited security screening process, saving us time and hassle.

Luxurious lounge

While most business class passengers flocked to the Oneworld Business Lounge at TBIT, we decided to take the road less traveled and set out on a brief jaunt from TBIT to Terminal 4. There, you’ll find a hidden gem: the American Airlines Flagship Lounge. And because of Qatar Airways baggage business class regulation was so generous, we didn’t have to carry our heavy checked luggage. For more detailed information, take a look at Qatar Airways’ luggage policy!
Upon arrival, we were whisked away from the usual Admirals Club crowd and ushered through a separate entrance. We were also welcomed with a glass of Piper-Heidsieck champagne. It was an amazing prelude to the experience that was waiting ahead. The lounge itself was fantastic. Bathed in natural light, it offered us a breathtaking panorama of the LAX tarmac. With abundant seating options, gourmet bites, and top-shelf libations, it felt less like a lounge and more like a luxurious oasis.
As we savored our champagne and nibbled on delectable treats, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of smug satisfaction. However, all good things must come to an end, and eventually, it was time for us to head off to our gate. It took us almost 30 minutes to arrive at the gate.

Cabin and seat

The Qatar Airways Airbus A350-1000 Business Class gave us a luxurious and private experience with its famous Qsuite layout. The Qsuite layout was a total game-changer, with a 1-2-1 configuration so everyone had direct aisle access. We loved how the seats alternated between facing forward and backward, giving the cabin a more dynamic feel. We were lucky enough to snag seats 5E and 5F, the two middle seats.
If you’re traveling solo, we highly recommend the rear-facing window seats. Imagine being right next to the window all by yourself and with a fully closing door. For couples, the rear-facing middle seats like ours would be the perfect choice. The seats are right next to each other, and you can raise or lower a divider for extra privacy if you’re sitting next to a stranger.
Our favorite part? There were no overhead cabins for the middle seats, so our cabin felt much more spacious. Speaking of, our Qsuite seat was to die for. The cushions were super comfy, and there were pockets and compartments everywhere to stash our stuff.

Thoughtful amenities

As soon as we settled into our seats, we were pleasantly surprised to find a luxurious amenity kit, two soft pillows, and a cozy blanket waiting for us. Shortly after boarding, the flight attendants offered us a menu, a choice of pajamas, a pre-departure drink, and a refreshing scented towel. We couldn’t help but be impressed by the immaculate service. We also appreciated how they had a separate wine menu, showcasing their commitment to quality beverages.
Furthermore, we were particularly excited to try the Diptyque products in the amenity kit. The Lait Frais lotion smelled divine. We also liked the White Company pajamas as they were soft and comfortable. The blanket? It was the softest we’ve ever encountered on a flight.
During our flight, we were also offered Wi-Fi at a fee. But since we wanted to fully enjoy our flight and have plenty of sleep, we decided not to get the Wi-Fi. But if you’re a Qatar Airways Privilege Club member, you can have complimentary Wi-Fi for up to an hour.

First-class dining

We’ve always appreciated Qatar Airways’ extensive menu, but their dine-on-demand service is a must-try. On long flights like this, we always appreciate being able to order food whenever we want. That said, we waited a bit after takeoff before placing our food order.
We kicked off our culinary journey with a delightful amuse-bouche and our own personal bread basket. It made the dining experience feel more intimate. We’re big on appetizers, and we ended up choosing the creamy tomato and coconut soup, which was incredibly comforting.
For our main courses, we had the seared corn-fed chicken breast with sweet potato mousseline. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the sweet potato mousseline was a delightful accompaniment. Also, don’t forget to finish off with the ice cream! Our favorite was the chocolate flavor. For breakfast, we ordered some fresh orange juice and a platter of fruits.
And while we’re at it, we would also want to use this chance to praise the incredibly attentive flight attendants. They ensured our drinks were always full and our meals were served promptly.

A good night’s sleep
1
What made our 15-hour flight feel like nothing was our seat. The Qatar Airways business class seat was something else. All we had to do was press the button under the storage shelf, and our seat was turned into a full-length bed. It was truly amazing! The flight attendants even offered to make it up for us, and of course, we couldn’t say no to that offer. Once we were back from brushing our teeth, the beds were all set, with soft mattress pads and extra pillows. Since our seats were right next to each other, it felt like we were sleeping in a double bed in the sky.
Overall, our flight was nothing but spectacular. From the moment we stepped on the plane to the moment we alighted, we were always in awe. The comfortable seat/bed, delightful dining experience, first-class service, and fantastic amenities spoiled us like we were royalty. It’s safe to say that was one of our favorite business class experiences to date.

How To Choose The Best Business Class Seat with Qatar Airways?
The business class flight Qatar Airways offers isn’t cheap. So, you should make sure the seat you choose is the best!
Know the differences between each aircraft
Qatar Airways operates a young fleet of aircraft with plans to expand its Qsuite across the fleet. The Qsuite, available on the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777, offers a double bed, privacy panels, and a luxurious ambiance. The Business Class Suite on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, while slightly smaller, still provides privacy and comfort. The Airbus A380 features a 1-2-1 configuration with aisle access for all seats. Regional routes are served by the Airbus A320, A321, and A330, with the A320 and A330 offering flat beds in business class.
Decide the right seating location
When flying business class, it’s important to pick the right seat. If you’re flying the Qsuite and traveling with a friend, seats E and F are the best as they’re the closest together and can form a double bed. If you’re traveling as a family of four, make sure to get the four seats that face each other. But if you’re traveling solo, you can consider seats A, B, K, or J.
Book early
Of course, the best seats are often booked first, so you’ll want to plan ahead. By booking early, you can increase your chances of securing your preferred seat. Not to mention, Qatar Airways sometimes offers early bird discounts on business class tickets.
