On one of our last visits to Florida, we decided to spend our nights at this Marriott in Winter Haven Florida, and we had a blast. Not only were we only minutes away from LEGOLAND, but we were able to admire the views of the lake every single day. Lake Views & LEGOLAND Proximity
Nestled right on the shores of serene Lake Dexter, the Courtyard by Marriott Winter Haven offered a truly tranquil escape. Its lakeside location was an instant highlight for us. It provided us with the perfect backdrop for unwinding.
In addition to that, the hotel’s prime position also proved a major advantage for our family. For families visiting LEGOLAND Florida Resort, you honestly couldn’t ask for a better spot. This Marriott hotel in Winter Haven FL is literally just two miles away from LEGOLAND. This made getting to and from the park with the kids incredibly convenient.
We also appreciated being close to more nature-focused activities. We took a day trip to Bok Tower Gardens, which was about a 12-mile drive. It was a beautiful and peaceful experience, and the drive wasn’t too long at all.

Room with a View
While not the most expensive or fanciest, the Courtyard by Marriott Winter Haven still offers impressive rooms. After looking through them all, we opted for a King Room with a water view, and we’re so glad we did!
Our room was a good size, at 315 sq ft, which gave us plenty of space to spread out. It was furnished with a comfortable king-sized bed and also had a sofa bed, which would be handy if you were traveling with more people. We absolutely loved making a cup of coffee in the morning and then relaxing on the sofa while gazing out at the water view. Having a mini-fridge and microwave was also a definite plus for us; it made it easy to keep drinks cold and make popcorn we got from the market.

Fitness and Leisure
Despite its proximity to LEGOLAND, our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Winter Haven was also enjoyable because of its amenities, specifically the fitness center and pool.
Being able to keep up with our fitness routine while traveling was important to us, and we were really pleased with the fitness center. It’s free to use, which is always a plus, and it’s open 24/7 – incredibly convenient for any schedule. We found a good variety of equipment, including cardio machines like treadmills, ellipticals, and exercise bikes, as well as free weights and strength training equipment. It had everything we needed for a decent workout.
The outdoor pool was another highlight for us. Open from 9 AM to 10 PM, it was very well-maintained and clean, with plenty of loungers surrounding the pool deck. We especially appreciated that the pool wasn’t overly deep, making it perfect for families with children. The best part, though, was the view of the lake while swimming – it made for a really relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Like other Marriott hotels, the Courtyard by Marriott Winter Haven also boasts an on-site restaurant, The Bistro. The restaurant’s versatile menu perfectly suited our needs throughout the day, starting with a delightful breakfast selection. Having Starbucks coffee available was a huge plus – we enjoyed specialty beverages that gave us the perfect morning boost. The dinner menu also caught us by surprise with its quality and variety. The evening atmosphere was particularly enjoyable as we sampled their Signature Cocktails.
But if you want to explore other options near the hotel, we highly recommend The Krazy Greek, which is steps away from the hotel. The food was absolutely delicious and incredibly reasonably priced. We tried the gyro platter and the spanakopita plate, and both were fantastic – large portions and bursting with flavor.

Finally, let’s talk about the staff. The service at the Courtyard by Marriott Winter Haven was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly safe and well taken care of. It was clear they were working tirelessly to accommodate what seemed like a huge influx of guests, yet they never let their efficiency or friendliness falter. They were working their tails off, and it showed in the best way possible.
What really stood out to us was the personalized attention we received. The staff at the front desk was fantastic, demonstrating a real eye for detail and making us feel welcome from the start. Even the staff at the restaurant was incredible. The service and attention to detail from both of them went above and beyond what we expected. It’s rare to find a hotel staff that is both so efficient and so genuinely warm and welcoming.
