Traveling with your yoga mat can be a hassle. Yet, traveling without it is another issue. Let’s face it: using a rented yoga mat is like borrowing someone else’s shoes! Besides, who knows what quality those rented yoga mats have. Not to mention whether they are in a good, clean condition or not. Those are the things you don’t have to worry about if you bring your own yoga mat as you travel. Our Anthropologie travel yoga mat reviews below help you find the one most suitable to your traveling preferences and your type of yoga exercise.
Anthropologie offers yoga mats for both adults and kids. In this post, we review each one, starting from those for the young yogis (skip to the products for adults if you’re not interested). These mats have their own advantages, with different materials and designs. Not sure what you’re looking for? Scroll all the way down to our “How to Choose the Best Anthropologie Yoga Travel Mat” section below for a comprehensive guide on buying the best yoga mat for you.
Positive Vibes Yoga Mat for Kids
7
Have you been wondering how to get your kids into yoga? Giving them this mat as a gift is a great idea! First of all, the mat’s colorful yet simple prints are something kids, teenagers, and even young adults would love. It’s available in two options: the Bear & Boy (as you can see on the image below) and the Be Kind prints. The former is excellent for those who love animation and cartoons, while the latter is more for fans of motivational quotes. Whichever you pick, your kids will have a positive vibe accompanying their yoga exercises for years to come.
“Perfect mat for stretching. I love this exercise mat! It’s textured.”
By Jakki, Florida
Though Positive Vibes Yoga Mat is recommended for kids from age 3 to 10 years, adults can also use it for light exercises and stretching. In fact, the kid’s sizing makes the mat great for travel! This mat is 60-inch long and 24-inch wide, which is significantly shorter than even the best Anthropologie yoga travel mat (around 70-inch long). Positive Vibes Yoga Mat’s length makes it easier to roll and pack. It fits in a smaller backpack carrier. Or you can also use the strap – included in every purchase – and carry it as a carry-on.
Positive Vibes Yoga Mat is made of polyurethane. Although it’s not the best material, it’s good enough to support your light exercises and even your kid’s most challenging yoga exercises. Cleaning the mat is easy. You only need a damp cloth to wipe the surface clean before and after yoga. Even your kids can do this!
“Color comes off. I bought this mat and it seemed good quality in terms of thickness but as soon as I wiped it down with a cloth and water, the dyes came off onto the towel.“
by CoastinColor
As you can see from one of the Anthropologie travel yoga mat reviews above, one thing to note is that the print’s colors may wash out on the first use. When the product arrives, we recommend wiping the surface off with a tossable damp cloth to avoid getting the dyes on your body or on the towel.
What We Love:
Positive Vibes Yoga Mat is an excellent alternative to your Anthropologie yoga travel mat since it’s smaller and lighter to pack.
Pros:
- Perfect size for stretching and light exercises for adults, or any yoga exercises for kids
- Colorful yet simple design
- Great grip
- Comes with a carrying strap
Cons:
- The dyes may wash out and fade after time.
Kids Meditation Yoga Mat
6
While the previous Anthropologie foldable yoga mat is all about a vibrant and positive vibe, Kids Meditation Yoga Mat is for those who love simplicity. We know how teenagers can be picky with colors! So we think this mat’s choices of colors will suit them more. Your kids can pick from three options: Peony (flower patterns on a cork-like design), Mini Rainbow (tiny rainbows spread across the beige surface), and Star (little golden stars on a cream top).
Each of these options is made of the same material: polyurethane. Though it’s not the eco-friendliest, this type of material is common among beginners’ yoga mats. It’s simple, lightweight, and durable enough to support young yogis on their first poses into the yoga world. Another plus point of polyurethane is that it’s easy to clean. To keep the mat fresh, you just need a damp cloth. Wipe it all over the surface, and the mat is ready for storing or packing. Just roll it up and use the included strap to tie it onto your kids’ sports bag.
Kids Meditation Yoga Mat is designed for kids from age 3 to 10 years old. However, adults can also use it as long as it’s not for strenuous exercises. If you plan on doing only light yoga sessions or some stretching, we recommend choosing this one for travel. It’s only 60-inch long and 20-inch wide, the smallest among other Anthropologie foldable yoga mats. Its compact size is the reason why we include this mat in our Anthropologie travel yoga mat reviews.
What We Love:
Kids Meditation Yoga Mat’s compact size makes it an excellent Anthropologie yoga travel mat!
Pros:
- Compact size, easy to pack
- Easy to clean
- Comes with a carrying strap
- Available in 3 (three) neutral yet charming designs
Cons:
- It’s not the most durable option for adults.
Colorblock Kids Yoga Mat
5
Our choice of the best Anthropologie yoga travel mat for kids goes to Colorblock Kids Yoga Mat. The fact that it’s made specifically for Anthropologie customers makes this mat extra special. Each of the available mats is designed by Little Renegade. This well-known Australian brand focuses on providing high-quality products for kids. Yep, your little ones deserve the best!
Anthropologie foldable yoga mat, such as this one, is recommended for kids from age 3 to 10 years old. However, anyone can use this mat as long as it’s not for a challenging yoga session that demands a lot from the mat. Using it for light stretching before you head outside on your vacation is totally recommended. Even if you plan on joining a relaxing yoga session while visiting India, this mat will do its job.
While the previous Anthropologie yoga travel mat is made of polyurethane, this one is made of microfiber. One of the best yoga mats for adults you’ll see later on this list also uses this material for its surface. Microfiber is soft on the skin yet durable, making Colorblock Kids Yoga Mat a perfect companion on every stretch and pose. On the other hand, the mat’s bottom part is made of recycled rubber. Besides providing a good grip, choosing this material means you contribute to making the world a better place!
This mat is 64-inch long and 24-inch wide, not that far off from yoga mats for adults. If you don’t mind working out on a smaller surface, this size makes the mat perfect to bring while traveling.
What We Love:
Colorblock Kids Yoga Mat is made of good-quality materials, making it durable enough for adults too!
Pros:
- Excellent for light yoga exercises
- Good-quality material: microfiber and recycled rubber
- Designed by Little Renegade exclusively for Anthropologie
- Colorful surface
Cons:
- It’s not durable for challenging yoga sessions.
B Yoga Cork Yoga Mat
4
Cork is our favorite material for yoga mats. First of all, it’s eco-friendly. Buying cork products means you participate in reducing waste and harmful material such as plastic or PVC. For this reason alone, even from the first time, we scrolled through the Anthropologie website, we knew B Yoga Cork Yoga Mat would be one of our favorites!
But that’s not all. Cork material also offers superior grip, which is excellent for strenuous practices such as hot yoga. No matter how much you sweat, you don’t have to use a yoga mat towel. And you won’t have to worry about slipping. This is helped by the mat’s rubber bottom. This lets the mat grip the floor firmly, even when you move around on a challenging cardio-yoga session.
“Great mat. I was very lucky to find this great yoga mat in store and on sale and paid half price! The underneath rubber makes the mat heavy and sturdy to do yoga or even Pilates! It’s also pretty and has a nice color! Great great mat!”
By Nazanin, Chicago IL
Still not convinced on how good B Yoga Cork Yoga Mat is? Wait until you learn that this mat is anti-microbial. Again, thanks to the cork material! It’s nothing sophisticated, guys. Just good old cork’s natural feature! B Yoga combined this feature with another great one: quick-drying. That’s right. It doesn’t take long for this yoga mat to dry up. This is great news for those who tend to sweat a lot or live in a humid, tropical area. We know how annoying it is to air dry your yoga mat after a challenging yoga class on the white sandy beaches of Thailand. Ugh, might as well leave it while you devour a plate of Pad Thai!
Since it’s both anti-microbial and quick-drying, rest assured that you won’t have issues with lingering odors. Every time you spread the mat open for another session, you’ll get that fresh feeling as if the mat is brand new.
The mat is 74-inch long, 22-inch wide, 4-mm thick, and relatively light. Though it’s an Anthropologie foldable yoga mat, we recommend rolling it instead of folding it to keep the cork material intact. As you can see from the mat’s dimension, it’s not the most compact option. But if you travel in a big suitcase, packing this yoga mat is not an issue.
“LOVE. Not slippery, very cool, absolutely love. Got it for my best friend for a bday gift and she’s ecstatic!”
By Izzyy, Boston MA
What We Love:
B Yoga Cork Yoga Mat is an eco-friendly yoga mat that’s durable even for the most challenging yoga practices.
Pros:
- Great for challenging yoga practices, such as hot yoga
- Eco-friendly material
- Naturally anti-microbial
- With quick-drying feature
- Superior grip
Cons:
- It’s not the most compact option for travel.
Yoga Design Lab Combo Yoga Mat
3
Yoga Design Lab proudly presents the Combo Yoga Mat. Before we dig deeper into why this product is one of the best on our Anthropologie travel yoga mat reviews, let us take a quick look at the brand. The founder of Yoga Design Lab, Chad Turner, went to Bali for a short trip. There he saw how many people – both tourists and locals – use mass-produced yoga mats that are unoriginal. As someone who believes practicing yoga should be inspiring, he decided to take action. So he sold his stuff to start a line of yoga accessories and stay in Bali while enjoying the beauty of this Island of Gods.
Through Yoga Design Lab Combo Yoga Mat, you can see Turner’s vision in creating something aesthetically beautiful yet highly functional. That’s something all of us can get behind! Still in line with inspiring yogis, this brand also focuses on bio-renewability. That statement is backed by the mat’s 100% natural tree rubber material. This type of material is recyclable and biodegradable. Rest assured that this eco-friendly material is free of toxic materials such as silicones and phthalates.
“Love it – the perfect mat! Gotta love the design, function, form and aesthetics of this – it’s covered it all! Having this mat inspires me to do my workouts more, especially during these stressful times practising social distancing. It’s the right thickness, and the colours are so vibrant, it boosts your energy and keeps you looking forward to laying it out to do your stretches every single day! Lucky to have purchased it on sale too – it’s the best kinda purchase ever!”
By Carol, Costa Mesa
The surface of this mat is made of microfiber. If you’re familiar with other microfiber products – such as microfiber towels – you’ll know how good this material is. It absorbs water well while providing enough cushions. Keep in mind that the use of microfiber makes the mat’s surface somehow textured. As a result, lint and dust may get in between the fibers. But that’s not something a lint roller cannot handle.
Another good thing about this material is that it makes the mat machine washable! With that said, we should note that you should wash it separately with cold water only and on a gentle cycle. Don’t forget to air dry them afterward! Stick to that washing instruction, and you’ll keep the mat’s aesthetic colors intact. The gradation from light blue to dark red – in geometric asymmetrical shapes – gives the mat its own characteristic. So unique! Each color is painted using water-based inks, which are safe for the environment and the yogi.
This mat is made versatile for all types of yoga and even Pilates. It’s designed to give enough cushions while providing stability and grip. This is important to prevent injuries. However, it’s not as absorbent as those made of cork. So if you’re planning on using this mat for hot yoga or other challenging sessions where you’ll sweat a lot, we recommend adding a mat towel. Find Manduka’s Yoga Mat Towels on Anthropologie: Yogitoes – with its trendy pattern – and Equa – for those who prefer something neutral.
“I LOVE this mat! This is the best mat I have ever used. It is soft AND grippy on top, and grippy on the bottom as well. I’ve used other mats that are equally grippy, but they are not soft like this one. This surface feels really nice and doesn’t pull on my skin when sliding into poses. I no longer want to use my Manduka mats, (which are still slippery after years of use). I misted this mat with water the first time, and it was good to go. No break-in period needed. Also, the colors on the mat are so beautiful!”
By VivSavage, Pittsburgh PA
What We Love:
The best Anthropologie foldable yoga mat for those who love all kinds of yoga and all the colors in the world!
Pros:
- Great for all types of yoga
- 100% natural material
- Machine washable (cold water, gentle cycle)
- Water-based inks
- Microfiber top

Cons:
- The microfiber texture may not be for everyone.
42 Birds Lightweight Cork Yoga Mat
2
Next up on our Anthropologie travel yoga mat reviews is 42 Birds Lightweight Cork Yoga Mat. It’s another favorite of ours as it’s made of cork. This super material ensures the best experience during your yoga sessions, even the most challenging ones. With this yoga mat, you can move around freely without having to fix your mat every now and then, thanks to the cork’s natural anti-slip feature.
Another thing that makes cork a super material is its quick-frying feature. This particular feature lets you do yoga without the mat towel no matter how much you sweat, making it perfect for advanced-level yoga and hot yoga. This feature also makes the mat mold and odor-free. With that said, we need to remind you to always let the mat air dry unfolded for a bit after your exercise.
What makes 42 Birds’ yoga mat better is that the cork material they use is more sustainable than most. The brand itself focuses on “functionality, sustainability, and natural beauty.” And this motto extends to its material selection. The cork 42 Birds uses sourced from cork forests and farmers in Spain and Portugal. They ensure that the cork-making process is sustainable to the very core.
While most cork yoga mats come with a rubber bottom, this one comes with a recyclable foam bottom. This makes the product even more eco-friendly! Besides, this type of bottom provides extra cushioning. More comfort for you, yogis!
As you can tell from its name, this yoga mat is lightweight, a big plus for travelers like us! Its size fits in big backpack carriers: 72-inch long, 24-inch wide, and 5-mm thick. Though it’s foldable, we recommend rolling it to avoid the cork material from peeling.
If you ask us, this is a strong candidate for the best Anthropologie yoga travel mat. We may be biased by its natural material – which we love more than any other features – but the product’s quality did not disappoint.
“Trendy Mat! Love it used it today for the first time and it was perfect. Looks even better in person and the yoga strap makes it so easy to take with me to the gym.“
By Emmajoy
What We Love:
Anti-bacterial, quick-drying, great grip, lightweight what else could you ask for one of the best eco-friendly travel yoga mats?
Pros:
- Great for challenging yoga practices, such as hot yoga
- Eco-friendly material: cork and sustainable foam
- Naturally anti-bacterial
- Absorbs sweat well
- Comes with a strap
Cons:
- Though it’s light, this yoga mat takes up some space in your luggage – it only fits in big backpack carriers or suitcases.
Oak and Reed Yoga Mat
1
If you go to the Anthropologie website, you’ll notice that this product has no Anthropologie travel yoga mat reviews yet. But that is because this one is the brand’s latest edition. Though it’s not made of our favorite material, cork, we have to admit that we fell in love right away with the Oak and Reed Yoga Mat!
First of all, this is the ultimate Anthropologie foldable yoga mat. While the other three yoga mats we have on this review are more roll-able than foldable, the Oak and Reed Yoga Mat is designed to be folded, as you can see from the folding lines across the mat. This makes folding and storing or packing so much easier. Keep in mind that these folding lines make the mat not entirely flat. With that said, it’s not that big of a deal. You won’t be bothered nailing every pose as you would on other mats.
The mat is made of PVC. It’s not something we’re proud of, but the mat’s design and price make up for it. For extra grip and confidence, the mat’s surface is sticky – meaning it provides enough grip. It’s 68-inch long and 24-inch wide, just the right size for your at-home or at-hotel yoga practice. Go for grey for a casual vibe or pink for a more vibrant nuance!
Oak and Reed Yoga Mat comes with a bonus: two yoga blocks! Each one is crafted to help you correct your alignment and extend your reach during even the most challenging pose. These blocks are soft to the skin, so no need to worry about them scuffing your bare skin. The blocks are 9-inch long, 6-inch wide, and 3-inch tall. Big enough to support you, yet small enough to pack and carry while you travel.
What We Love:
Oak and Reed Yoga Mat is designed to be the ultimate Anthropologie yoga travel mat: lightweight and foldable.
Pros:
- Foldable design
- Super lightweight
- Good sticky surface for extra grip
- Comes with a set of blocks
Cons:
- The mat is made of PVC, not the eco-friendliest material.
How To Choose The Best Anthropologie Yoga Travel Mat
There are so many yoga mat options available online. However, finding the most suitable for you is not that simple. Before clicking the “Add to Basket” button, you need to consider many factors: from size, material to extra features each type of mat offers.
Keep in mind that what’s best for your friend – or even your yoga instructor – does not mean the best for you. It doesn’t work that way. Read through these factors below and decide only based on your own needs and preferences, not anyone else.
What is your type of yoga exercise?
First things first, different types of yoga exercises may require a different kind of yoga mat. Suppose you’re going to use to mat mostly for hot yoga. In this case, you need something that deals with water absorption well, as you’ll be sweating profusely. Using the ordinary yoga mat can be slippery, which may lead to accidents and injuries.
On the other hand, if you’re still a beginner, a simple mat will do. With that said, you can’t just grab one that’s available on the counter. Quality should be your priority. Good-quality yoga mats mean comfort and safety throughout your exercise. Check the “Pros” list on each of our Anthropologie travel yoga mat reviews to find out what type of yoga exercise the product is most suitable for.
The material
The quality of a product is often related to what material it’s made of. The same applies to travel yoga mats. Anthropologie travel yoga mats are made of some of the best materials: cork and natural rubber. We prefer cork for two important reasons: it’s eco-friendly and naturally anti-bacterial.
In case you’re not familiar with cork, it’s the same material used to seal wine bottles. Yep, that lightweight wooden thing you have to pop out to open a wine bottle is a cork. Now, imagine that lightweightness on a yoga mat! Being a natural material makes cork long-lasting if you know how to take care of it well.
Another reason why cork material is great is that it offers superior grip, which is excellent for strenuous practices such as hot yoga. Besides, cork is naturally anti-bacterial and dries out quickly. This means your mat will most likely be mold-free.
On the other hand, natural rubber is great for its superior grip. Though it’s not as eco-friendly, natural or recycled rubber is still among manufacturers’ and yogis’ favorite. Yoga mats made of rubber are usually good quality and will be in good shape for many years.
The mat’s length
When it comes to choosing a product you’ll bring with you while traveling, size matters. For a travel yoga mat, the length is most important. Most Anthropologie yoga travel mats are around 20-inch long. It fits in a big backpack or suitcase and may be carried as a carry-on.
If that’s too long to fit your luggage, you may consider choosing yoga mats for kids instead. The quality of these mats is not that far off compared to those for adults. It’s mostly a matter of smaller size, which in the travel-yoga-mat case is a good thing.
Planning on carrying your yoga mat as a carry-on? Pick one that is no more than 22 inches in width. This is according to most airlines’ regulations on carry-on sizes. But before you decide on flying with one, please check with your airline as each may have different rules.
Fold it or Roll it
Though you can fold a yoga mat like you would a shirt, it’s not recommended to do so unless the mat is designed to be folded, like the best Anthropologie foldable yoga mat. Folding a yoga mat may cause the material to peel or crack. As a result, its surface may no longer be smooth, which is a big no for any yogi.
This is why we love the Oak and Reed Yoga Mat. This mat is made to be folded. So you don’t have to worry about damaging it when you stuff it in your luggage.
Grip vs. Comfort
Besides quality, the material also matters when it comes to your preferences. Some products focus on balancing grip and comfort. However, in most cases, you have to lean towards one more than the other.
Some yoga mats have a sticky surface which means a better grip for the yogi. But this may mean it’s not that comfortable enough when you hold certain poses. On the other hand, materials such as microfiber offer more comfort. However, it cannot provide as a good grip as rubber or cork would.
