Best value for money. We begin the list with Iberostar Selection Varadero, a sprawling and modern hotel complex sitting on a beautiful stretch of white-sand beach in Varadero. The all-inclusive hotel is one of the best family-friendly hotels on the beach in the city, coupled with a gorgeously picturesque tropical setting.

We’d spend sun-kissed days lounging by one of the sparkling pools while the children had a blast at the fun-gilled kids club and the splash pad. We’d indulge in complimentary water sports like windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, and even build sandcastles on the beach. There was even a spa where we could indulge in massages while the onsite babysitters took care of the kids. Later, we’d get together in one of the five restaurants, serving cuisines from Japanese to Mediterranean, before returning to our comfy rooms.

All rooms at this hotel were spacious, with flatscreen TVs, luxe bathrooms with slippers and bathrobes, and even balconies or terraces in some rooms.

Best all-inclusive. We were looking for an adults-only hideaway in Varadero when we came across the amazing Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero, All-Inclusive, Adults Only. Believe us when we say this all-inclusive, adults-only resort is a sanctuary in every sense. We loved the choice of elegant rooms and suites, which were available in a variety of categories. While the best of the lot faced the beach and the ocean, they all had plush beds, modern bathrooms, and a slew of mod-cons that made our stay very comfortable.

As far as this hotel goes, it feels like a mini-city within the confines of the resort. We had access to all of its amazing dining amenities, including five restaurants, three bars and lounges, and even a poolside and a beach bar. So, we were spoilt for choice when it came to drinking and dining on the premises. Every morning, we’d enjoy a three-hour breakfast between 7 and 10 am before heading to one of the many swimming pools or the tennis and basketball courts for those of us who couldn’t go a day without being active. Better yet, the property even offers around-the-clock room service and complimentary butler service for a more exclusive getaway.

Best adults-only. The adults-only, all-inclusive Royalton Hicacos is Varadero’s reigning luxury resort and boasts an aura of castaway island seclusion. Think tropical gardens, swaying royal palms, and an unparalleled beachfront dotted with thatch-roofed shelters – pure bliss. But that’s not all. Flower-edged pathways and sparkling-blue waterways wind their way throughout this adults-only getaway, with chic and spacious two-level rooms where the sitting areas overlook the rooms and suites. We loved the contemporary and spanking-new bathrooms, which came with deep-soaking tubs. The best bit? Every room boasted a private, white-railed veranda with sunrise/sunset views, depending on where it was placed in the resort.

The rest of the resort is equally impressive, if not more, and all the impressive-ness starts right from the modern, all-white main lobby. There’s a 24-hour bar, which is where we met our private concierge, who looked after all our needs throughout our stay. What’s more, the resort has not just five restaurants but also five lounges/bars. There’s even a mini-village of cafés that sell everything from Italian coffee and homemade ice cream to French crepes. Two massive outdoor pools, a serene spa, and two nightclubs, a live jazz and a disco one, complete the rest of the resort.

During our recent stay, we had the pleasure of experiencing the diverse range of accommodations this charming hotel has to offer. The Basic Room, a cozy haven for two, exceeded our expectations with its thoughtful amenities. The climate-controlled air conditioning ensured a comfortable environment, while the electric kettle and minibar added a touch of convenience. We appreciated the daily housekeeping service, ensuring a retreat to return to after exploring the vibrant city. The courtyard view added a tranquil ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure.

The Family Room offers ample space and comfort for families or larger groups. A 32-inch flat-screen TV and digital channels provide entertainment options for all ages. The queen and twin bunk beds ensure a restful night’s sleep, while the additional amenities maintain the hotel’s signature blend of luxury and practicality.

The Traditional Room, with its charming queen bed and well-equipped kitchenette, captured the essence of home away from home. The inclusion of cookware, utensils, and even a rice cooker appealed to our inner culinary enthusiast, allowing us to indulge in homemade delights during our stay. The lobster/crab pot and stove top offered opportunities for culinary exploration, showcasing the hotel’s dedication to providing a holistic experience for us.

Best Value For Money. Upon arrival at the Casa de Familia Cubana, we were greeted with warm smiles and efficient check-in procedures, setting the tone for an enjoyable stay. The range of room options provided ample choices to suit every traveler’s needs. Opting for the Deluxe Triple Room with an Ocean view, we were immediately captivated by the stunning vistas that greeted us from the balcony. The room itself exuded modernity and comfort, boasting a plush queen bed and a cozy twin bed for added convenience. 

The attention to detail was evident in the thoughtfully curated amenities. The private bathroom was complete with a rainfall showerhead. Toiletries were provided, including shampoo and luxurious soaps. One of the highlights of our stay was the access to the shared kitchen facilities. Having the option to whip up a quick snack or indulge in a meal was a graceful addition. The minibar, albeit with fees, offered a selection of refreshments to complement our culinary endeavors. The hotel had additional rooms for those with more space and exclusivity needs. Throughout our stay, housekeeping ensured that every corner of the hotel was clean. Everyone is welcome in Cuba.

We were a group of friends looking to stay right on Varadero Beach. However, we didn’t want to live in a resort but rather wanted flexible options to stay, especially those that were spacious too. And we found everything we wanted in Villas Experience Varadero by Be Live. This gorgeous all-inclusive beachfront property comprises a host of different-sized villas sprinkled over a sprawling, verdant beachfront area. Even though it’s not a traditional resort hotel, this one does serve a fantastic buffet breakfast spread. So, it was perfect to get up in the morning and not have to worry about breakfast, which we could have right on the property and get ready for a day out in Varadero.

The villas were excellent and equipped with just about everything we needed for a comfortable extended stay. For instance, the in-villa amenities included everything from sitting areas and mini-fridges to luxurious bathrooms and flatscreen TVs. What’s more, even balconies look out to the gardens, with the beachfront villas looking right out to the sand and the sea.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the inviting ambiance and warm hospitality that permeated Casa Elena y Leslie. The easy check-in process and ample free self-parking immediately set the tone for a stress-free retreat. As we stepped into our accommodation, we were greeted by a cozy haven boasting 215 sq ft of space, perfectly tailored for a restful stay. The room exuded a sense of cleanliness and freshness that surpassed our expectations. Immaculately maintained, it featured modern amenities designed to cater to every need. The plush double bed beckoned us after a day of exploration, promising a night of uninterrupted slumber.

We reveled in the tranquil ambiance of this guesthouse, which was just what we were looking at in Varadero. Tucked away from the bustling city streets, the property offered a serene oasis where peace and quiet reign supreme. This was further accentuated by the soundproofing measures in place, ensuring a restorative rest for us. The room amenities left nothing to be desired, catering to both comfort and convenience. The private bathroom was well-appointed, complete with a rejuvenating shower and plush towels. The inclusion of a hairdryer was a thoughtful touch, sparing us the hassle of packing our own.

Our recent stay at the Varadero D’Amelia was nothing short of exceptional, leaving us enchanted and rejuvenated. The room, spanning a generous 269 sq ft, boasted a breathtaking ocean view, allowing us to wake up to the soothing sound of waves every morning. The two queen beds were plush and comfortable and provided a restful night’s sleep.

Varadero D’Amelia spares no expense when it comes to ensuring our satisfaction. The room was impeccably clean, a testament to the resort’s commitment to hygiene and comfort. Evidently, the property had undergone recent renovations, as every corner exuded a sense of freshness and modernity.

One of the highlights of our stay was the indulgent bathrooms at Varadero D’Amelia. With not one but two private bathrooms at our disposal, we felt truly pampered. The showers were spacious and rejuvenating, and the abundance of fluffy towels added a touch of luxury to our daily routine.

Starfish Las Palmas, Adults-only

Since we’re culture vultures, staying at the Starfish Las Palmas, an Adults-only Resort, suited us perfectly. The stunning resort sits right on the main beachfront of Varadero, with Downtown right behind the next street. So, it was perfect for enjoying the beach, soaking in the local culture, and seeing the sights of Downtown.

Besides the location, there’s a lot more about the resort that we love, and so will you. Every morning, we’d enjoy complimentary breakfasts in the garden, which was included in our room rate. After that, we’d sprawl out on the loungers by the massive oceanfront pool when we weren’t swimming in it. Since it’s adults-free, we were able to get some much-needed peace and quiet. We loved the rooms, too, which were cozy and yet spacious with a contemporary and sleek design.

My Wonderful Home

Best B&B. My Wonderful Home provided us easy access to Varadero Beach thanks to the well-furnished one-bedroom that was our abode for a stay on the beach. Our last visit saw this cozy stop, perfect for a romantic getaway. Depending on availability or choice, the rooms have king-sized beds and two large twin beds. The room is large enough to contain at least two people on a trip. The common room was clean, spacious, and well-kept. 

We experienced the amazing bathroom amenities that made our alone time worth every second. Toilet papers, towels, and a perfectly working showerhead are something that some beach houses fail to get correctly. Vacationing during the summer season means that we might have had to worry about the hot weather. However, we only had to worry about the hot weather when we were out of our room. As long as we were in our room, the air-conditioning kept us cool all through. Housekeeping attended to all our needs, and we didn’t have to worry about doing anything that took away the joy of our vacation.

Casa de Betty and Jorge

Best B&B. We had the pleasure of experiencing both the Classic Double Room and the Classic Twin Room in Casa de Betty and Jorge, each offering its own unique allure. First, let’s talk about the Classic Double Room. We were greeted by a spacious yet intimate setting adorned with tasteful decor that exuded a sense of homely sophistication as we entered. The private bathroom, equipped with a refreshing shower and plush towels, added an extra touch of luxury to our stay. While cribs and rollaway beds were not available, the daily housekeeping ensured that every corner of the room remained pristine, and the option for fresh bed sheets and towels upon request exemplified the hotel’s dedication to our comfort.

Next up is the Classic Twin Room. Perfect for those traveling with a companion, this room boasts two snug twin beds, providing ample space for a peaceful night’s rest. Attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the room, from the thoughtfully curated decor to the impeccable cleanliness. Beyond the confines of the rooms, Casa de Betty and Jorge spared no expense in ensuring a memorable stay for their guests. The common areas exuded an inviting ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. 

Not only that, but our days began with a fantastic breakfast, making this one of the best B&Bs we’ve ever stayed at.
