Cartwright Hotel Union Square – BW Premier Collection
A block away from Union Square
The first thing that we want to talk about regarding Cartwright Hotel Union Square is its unbeatable location. Nestled just a block away from the iconic Union Square, we found ourselves immersed in the city’s vibrant shopping and dining scene. The hotel’s central position also made it incredibly convenient to explore other fascinating neighborhoods like Chinatown, North Beach, and the Financial District.
One of the highlights of our stay was the accessibility of the Powell Street cable car, which is just a stone’s throw away. Taking a ride on this historic mode of transportation was a truly unique experience, and it allowed us to easily reach popular attractions like Fisherman’s Wharf. This makes the hotel a great choice if you’re searching for a Best Western in San Francisco Fisherman Wharf.

Special suite
The accommodations at Cartwright Hotel Union Square are just as lovely as its location. Though not the flashiest, they sure remind you of home because of the comfort and simplicity. For our stay, we booked the King Suite, the biggest option the hotel had to offer.
We loved the overall vibe of the suite, with ornate wooden headboards and pillow-top mattresses. It was everything we expected and looked exactly like the pictures. We had a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and a must-have coffee maker as well as a collection of local organic coffee. We also loved how clean the bathroom was. Plus, there were free toiletries and a hairdryer, so we didn’t have to spend extra energy requesting them.
The show stealer, though, was the living area. It was much bigger than we imagined, and we had more than enough space for everyone in our group. Best of all, there was a work desk so we could finish some projects comfortably without leaving the comfort of our suite.

Bring your pet!
Though we didn’t bring our dog, we think you should know that Cartwright Hotel Union Square welcomes four-legged family members! The hotel is incredibly accommodating, allowing guests to have up to two pets weighing 80 lbs or less without any extra charge. If you have more than two pets, they might still be considered with prior approval, so it’s worth asking.
Also, when we first arrived at the hotel, we noticed there was a jar of tasty dog treats in the lobby. We’re sure your dog will be delighted to find a snack waiting for them! While the hotel primarily welcomes dogs, they might also consider other pets like cats or birds, depending on their discretion.
“As if being affordable and comfortable isn’t enough, this hotel also attracts travelers with pets.”

Modern facilities
While Cartwright Hotel Union Square isn’t the most luxurious hotel in the city, it still offers some modern facilities for guests to enjoy. One of the hotel’s highlights is the Pacific Heights meeting room. We got the chance to explore this spot, and we were awed. With its 920 sq ft and a maximum capacity of 70, it can easily accommodate an entire group. Apart from that, you can also rent the overflow area for additional space if needed.
Another spot that we enjoyed was the hotel’s warm lobby fireplace. It was where we found solace! Imagine relaxing there with a good book or board game. The plush fireside couches provided us with a cozy setting, making it easy to forget the hustle and bustle of the city outside.
Of course, we must also mention the hotel’s concierge services, which are available from 7 AM to 11 PM. The friendly and helpful staff were always on hand to assist with our needs, whether it was making restaurant reservations or providing recommendations for local attractions.

If you’re in the mood for a drink and some light bites, head to the Golden Gate Tap Room. This lively lounge is just across the street and offers a fun, casual atmosphere. We enjoyed their extensive beer selection, delicious American fare, and classic game hall activities like shuffleboard and Skee-Ball. Plus, with over 20 screens showing live sports, it’s the perfect spot to catch a game.
For a taste of authentic Italian cuisine, Uncle Vito’s is a must-visit. Located just a short walk away, this full-service restaurant serves up fresh, homemade pizzas made with the finest ingredients. We loved their commitment to using unbleached flour and fresh, local produce. Our favorite? The Greek Pizza!
