Home2 Suites by Hilton Des Moines
11
Best Hotel For Cat Owners. First on this list is the Home2 Suites by Hilton Des Moines. This hotel in Des Moines is strategically located near Drake University, but the guests aren’t limited to the university’s goers only. It’s also just a 10-minute drive to Downtown Des Moines, so it’s ideal for everyone. The area has plenty of nearby restaurants and shops, so finding places to eat was a non-issue.
Now, location aside, the hotel is a bliss to stay at with pets. For starters, the Home2 Suites opens its arms to both cats and dogs and only charges a one-time fee of $75 per stay. It’s truly quite the bargain since the hotel allows a maximum of two pets with no size restrictions. On top of that, we also got free parking and complimentary breakfast every day.
Furthermore, as for our experience of staying here, it was nothing short of a haven. Our cats can be shy, but the friendly staff seems to charm them. After checking in, we were escorted to our guestroom, which, to our delight, was spacious and clean. The room got a sofa bed that immediately got claimed by our cats. A good sign that they are comfortable. Other than that, we also highly recommend dining at the hotel’s restaurant. Not only do they serve the most delectable cuisine, but pets are also allowed to be in the area!

Element West Des Moines, a pet-friendly oasis, offered an exceptional stay for both us and our four-legged friend. This contemporary hotel is strategically located, ensuring easy access to Valley Junction, Jordan Creek Town Center, and many local businesses.
Their pet policy is a dream for pet owners, allowing a maximum of two dogs or cats with a reasonable fee of $50 per stay. Notably, there’s a maximum of 100 lbs weight policy, so make sure to weigh your pet first to have a smooth check-in. The hotel’s spacious and modern guestrooms mean lots of space for our pets, so they don’t feel stuffy. The rooms also come with fully equipped kitchens, offering the comfort of a home away from home. During our stay, the welcoming staff made sure our pets felt right at home and showered them with lots of affection.
Our other favorite feature of the hotel was its grassy surroundings, where we could take our dogs for a short walk when they needed to relieve themselves. The hotel has other cool amenities like free bike rents, an indoor pool, a fitness center, and even free parking. On top of all these, the hotel also sponsors a foster program for pets looking for a new home, the ARL Iowa. Truly, what’s not to love about Element West Des Moines?

Our stay at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Des Moines West was an absolute delight! This was one of the most memorable hotels in Des Moines, Iowa, that were pet-friendly for our furry companion.
Tru to Marriott’s renowned hospitality, the staff warmly welcomed us and extended their excitement to their furry guests, making our pets feel like VIPs. The pet policy was also fantastic, allowing two dogs or cats up to 80 lbs for a $50 pet fee per stay. The hotel even had a grassy area for pet relief, and we appreciated the option to leave our pets unattended in the room, provided they were well-behaved or in crates. Speaking of rooms, it was, as expected, spacious and had all the necessary amenities, but the fully-equipped kitchen made our stay all the better.
Moreover, the location is fantastic, with the Blank Park Zoo and Raccoon River Dog Park so close. We had a blast exploring these pet-friendly spots, and our four-legged companion couldn’t have been happier. All in all, the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Des Moines West passes the vibe check when it comes to pets’ hospitality.

The hotel’s staff warmly welcomes our dogs with a goodie bag full of treats, making it a truly pet-friendly establishment. Best Value For Money. Located in Downtown, the Comfort Inn and Suites Event Center became our go-to pet-friendly hotel for an affordable short stay. Out of the bat, the hotel only charged us a pet fee of $10 per pet/night. Compared to the other pet-friendly hotels we’ve been to, this one is considerably a lot cheaper. The hotel also allowed a maximum of two dogs or cats per room. As cat owners ourselves, this was a relief.
Furthermore, when it comes to the hotel itself, it was nothing short of perfect. The interior was up to our standard. Everything was clean, and we had nothing to complain about. Our room was nice and homey. The separate seating area definitely became our cat’s territory. What’s more, the staff was friendly and helpful from the get-go. Our usually jumpy cat even warmed up to them. Plus, the hotel had other facilities, making our stay even more comfortable. An indoor pool, free parking, and breakfast every morning are among them.
Lastly, we didn’t bring our dog on this trip. But it’s nice to know that the hotel has dog-friendly amenities like a grassy area. We also met other guests who brought their dogs, and they seemed to be as satisfied as us with the hotel and its staff.

That said, our stay at the hotel was all-around enjoyable. The hotel allows a maximum of two dogs or cats per room with a fee of $75 per 1-4 nights stay. For more than 4 night stay, the hotel charges $125. Plus, the hotel’s staff was beyond helpful and welcoming. When we arrived with our pets, the staff immediately greeted them with ear scratches. The Holiday Inn Express and Suites Des Moines Downtown was hands down one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Des Moines that we’ve been to. It checks out many of our preferences when it comes to finding the best pet-friendly accommodations. Firstly, it’s right in the heart of the city, making it considerably easier for us to walk around with our pets. There’s a Starbucks within walking distance and other local restaurants. It’s also only a few minutes’ drive away from one of our most anticipated pet-friendly spots, the famous Paw and Pints.
Secondly, the staff’s warmth and hospitality were exceptional. They made check-in a breeze, warmly welcoming our dogs with ear scratches and smiles. They even ensured our convenience by accommodating us on the first floor, minimizing the walk for our pets’ bathroom breaks. The hotel’s pet-friendly amenities were a huge plus, with ample grassy areas for our pets and provided wipes and baggies for cleanups.
In terms of pet policies, the reasonable fees truly stood out. We were charged just $30 per night for our two dogs, which felt like a steal. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t allow cats, but everything else was exemplary. We’re already looking forward to our next stay here.

Best Location. The Residence Inn Des Moines West is the ultimate pet-welcoming hotel in West Des Moines. One of its most prominent features is definitely the location. We were located within the Jordan Creek Town Center, a complex with every convenience we ever needed. Lots of pet-friendly restaurants within walking distance, and our favorite one, the outdoor mall. With ample shaded walkable areas to walk our dogs and simply enjoy the scenery.
We stayed here for our yearly family vacation, and the hotel’s spacious suites improved our stay. Even with two dogs in the room, everyone was still comfortable and didn’t feel cramped. We had to pay an extra $100 fee for our pets, but it was worth every penny to enjoy the luxury of vacationing with our doggos. Plus, our pets are also allowed to be left unattended in the room. This means we got to enjoy the other facilities the hotel has, like the pool. The hotel also allows cats, so for cat owners, this is the pet-friendly hotel for you!
“The doggoes were just excited to be in a new environment. They even seemed to sense that we were on a vacation!”

Best Hotel For An Extended Stay. The Hyatt Place West Des Moines was one of the other Des Moines, IA, pet-friendly hotels that we stayed in that was located within the Jordan Creek Town Center. Knowing how convenient the area is, we decided for an extended stay this time. Fortunately, with the hotel’s fantastic pet policies, we didn’t have to dry up our wallets. In fact, for a 30-day stay, we only needed to pay a $75 pet fee, with an added $100 cleaning fee. Plus, the hotel doesn’t charge extra for two dogs. They only required the pets’ combined weight to be less than 75 lbs.
Furthermore, true to the Hyatt’s world-renowned reputation, we were greeted with amazing staff who weren’t only friendly to us and our pets. If any, they got even more excited knowing that our furry friends were among the guests staying at the hotel. That said, the staff helped us settle into our room, which had a sofa bed and other amenities.
