Hanscom’s Motel & Cottages
11
Best Pet-Friendly Motel and Cottages. Hanscom’s Motel & Cottages is the embodiment of a cottage getaway experience. It’s everything we’d expected from a locally owned pet-friendly accommodation in the middle of the lush Bar Harbor. We were nestled among pine, birch, and maple trees, with beds of flowers surrounding us. All the cottages looked just as cozy as the next one. And we were lucky enough to get one with a patio out front. That said, all rooms come with amazing amenities, including a fully equipped kitchen, free WiFi, and cable TV.
On top of that, Hanscom’s Motel & Cottages truly makes the perfect place to stay with our pets. The pet policy allows for a max of two pets (cats or dogs) of all sizes to stay with us for the low pet fee of $22 per pet/night. Furthermore, the motel’s location couldn’t be better for pet parents, as the famous Acadia National Park is less than 2 miles away, and there’s also a direct way to the shoreline from the cottages. Lastly, when you get here, don’t forget to take full advantage of the motel’s BBQ facilities to make the most of your stay.

Brewer Cottage

Technically, the Brewer Cottage is a home rental, but we couldn’t help but slip it into our list. Our stay here was fantastic, and we wouldn’t want you to miss out on the experience. For us, the main attractions of this house were its big and pet-friendly space, as well as its convenient location. Plus, the house’s interior and exterior were easy on the eyes.
That said, the Brewer Cottage came with 3 bedrooms, with 5 beds in total, a sunroom, a living room, a dining area, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a washer-dryer. As for the pet policy, we were allowed a max of two dogs weighing below 40 lbs, with no extra pet fee.
With all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay provided for us, all that was left was for us to enjoy Bar Harbor to our heart’s content. We’d usually start with a walk around the area, taking advantage of the nearby trails with our dogs, and then we’d pop into downtown Bar Harbor for some breakfast. In the afternoon, we’d favor a stroll along the shore and get dinner with the ocean as our backdrop. And, oh, all of these spots are within a mile from Brewer Cottage.

Belle Isle Motel

The Belle Isle Motel might not be the fanciest pet-friendly accommodation in Bar Harbor, but it sure does the job. They welcome pet dogs of all sizes for an extra $30 per night, so for us pet parents with a chunky dog, this motel is a haven.
That said, to us, the motel’s other selling points were its location and amenities. While it’s not in smack-dabbed downtown Bar Harbor, we were only under 15 minutes away. Plus, Hadley Beach Point is within walking distance, and we were surrounded by nature. As for its amenities and facilities, the motel has an outdoor pool, a kid’s playground, and a nice trail to walk our dog. Moreover, the motel always had a fire going in its fire pit every night, which became one of the things we looked for every day we stayed there.
All in all, staying at the Belle Isle Motel was plenty comfortable. Granted, our room could be bigger, but as long as our dog could cozy up, we got nothing to complain about.

Seasider Motel

Staying at the Seasider Motel in Downtown Bar Harbor was an absolute delight. Just a minute from the Cadillac Mountain entrance to Acadia National Park, we couldn’t have asked for a better location. The motel offers affordable, contemporary accommodations with options for one king or two queen beds, making it perfect for any group size.
We appreciated the variety of amenities, including a complimentary grab-and-go breakfast, free onsite parking, and free WiFi. The pet-friendly rooms were a highlight, allowing us to bring our two dogs for an additional fee of just $40 per night. It was clear that the Seasider Motel understands the importance of traveling with pets and providing clean and comfortable designated rooms for them.
Our stay was incredibly enjoyable, with immediate access to all the beauty of Acadia and Bar Harbor. If you’re looking for welcoming, dog friendly hotels Bar Harbor ME has to offer, we highly recommend the Seasider Motel. Our dogs loved it, and so did we!

Eden Village Motel and Cottages

The Eden Village Motel and Cottages is perfect for adventure-loving dogs. The Arcadia National Park is basically the motel’s backyard. We had our fill of trekking through the national park and enjoying the scenic routes. The motel’s grounds itself was very beautiful and tranquil, complete with an ample green space and a pond.
Staff aren’t always onsite, so we were pretty much left to our own devices, but it provided a unique, sort-of rugged experience. Almost like we were staying in a cabin in the woods, with various amenities provided for us. That said, for convenience, there was still a restaurant in the motel.
“It really is a different kind of experience than the usual holiday vibe, but staying here was a breath of fresh air.”
WOW Travel
Now, while the pet policy is simple enough: a maximum of two dogs of any size per room, the pet fee was on the expensive side this time. We had to pay for a non-refundable cleaning fee, plus a $20 pet fee per night. For a 1-2 days stay, the cleaning fee is $45, and $75 for a longer stay. But in the end, it was all worth it.

Canterbury Suites B&B

While the great outdoors is exciting, staying right at the heart of Bar Harbor is always more convenient. That said, not only did the Canterbury Suites B&B give us a comfortable pet-friendly place to stay, but its location couldn’t be more ideal. Both Town Beach and the West Street Historic District are just a 6-minute walk away, and pretty much all the exciting spots are within walking distance from the B&B.
Furthermore, the place was simply excellent. It was well-stocked with amenities like a spacious and fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, and a patio. We also got free WiFi, cable TV, and our fave, a homemade breakfast every day. Most importantly, the B&B was really lax with its pet policy. We were allowed one pet dog for no extra charge, as long as we informed them beforehand.
All in all, our days staying here were spent mostly strolling through the area and exploring Bar Harbor. Plus, with the free shuttle to Acadia only around the block, we got to have a day of adventure. That said, when we’re just chilling at the B&B, the outdoor terrace overlooking the garden makes a nice place to relax, and let our dog play around.

Gallagher’s Travels Bar Harbor Motel and Cottages

There’s something about staying in a cottage that always makes us feel more adventurous. Perhaps it’s the rustic cabin vibe or the surrounding nature, but Gallagher’s Travels Bar Harbor Motel and Cottages is perfect for creating unforgettable memories with our pets. The secluded location allows us to relax, yet it’s convenient that the free Islander Shuttle passes by the motel.
While the motel has an authentic, family-run vibe, everything is meticulously looked after. The staff ensures each room and cottage is clean and well-maintained. They steam-clean the mattresses, bed sheets, and carpets, so we always return to a fresh-smelling room. The spacious green area is well-manicured, allowing our dog to frolic freely. There’s also a dog park and a picnic and grill area that we fully enjoyed.
Guests can choose between a motel room or one of the cabins. Since we had an extra furry friend, the cabin was an excellent choice, offering more space, amenities, a deck with seats, and its own parking spot. We were allowed to leave our pet unattended in the room if she was well-trained. The weight limit is 100 lbs, and the pet fee is $35 per night for one dog (for two pets, $60 per night). Cats are also welcome.

Best Location. Nestled on a 14-acre hilltop overlooking Acadia National Park and the bay, the Wonder View Inn is one of the best pet friendly hotels in Bar Harbor Maine. The view is breathtaking, setting the perfect backdrop for a memorable stay. We love that they not only welcome our pets but also provide all sorts of pet-friendly amenities.
The pet policy shows that the hotel treats furry guests just as well as their human guests. For starters, there’s no weight limit, both cats and dogs are welcome, and our dog even got a goody bag right when we checked in. Inside were bowls, treats, and waste bags. Plus, they also allow pets to dine with us on the deck of their Looking Glass Restaurant. Furthermore, with the hotel having a spacious yard, our dog got to run around and play. There’s also a game of volleyball and horseshoes for us to enjoy. Most importantly, the pet fee was only $25 per pet/night.
Moreover, for our room, we opted for one with an ocean view. It had a balcony, and neat amenities including a cable TV, and fridge. While we enjoyed lazing around the hotel, catching sunrises and sunsets, we also loved going downtown, especially since there were free shuttle services to take us.

Quaint, locally-owned pet-friendly hotels will always have a special place in our hearts, but an internationally renowned chain hotel just hits differently. At hotels like the Best Western Acadia Park Inn, we can take comfort in knowing that their services and hospitality are guaranteed to be exemplary. Plus, with our pets in tow, we can’t risk being denied access at the last minute.
During check-in, both our feline company and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. They also knew enough about cats to not fuss over ours too much, to avoid making our cat uncomfortable. As for the pet policy at Best Western Acadia Park Inn, it was simple enough. The maximum number of pets per room is two, which can be either cats or dogs. Furthermore, there’s an 80 lbs weight limit, a $40 pet fee per stay, and a $150 cleaning fee deposit.
Moreover, when we’re not out exploring the nearby Acadia National Park, or strolling around downtown Bar Harbor, you can find us chilling at the hotel. With our room being so comfy and spacious, and the hotel having a heated outdoor pool, it was easy to let the hours fly by. Lastly, the hotel also got extra amenities like free continental breakfast, and a children’s playground, which only made us adore them even more.

Best Luxurious Pet-Friendly Hotel. This hotel was previously featured on our list of the 11 Best Pet-Friendly Hotels in Maine. The Holiday Inn Bar Harbor Regency Hotel is making a comeback. Since we were already familiar with the hotel, we felt comfortable and content. The pet policy suited us perfectly, allowing a maximum of two dogs per room, provided they weigh below 30 pounds, for an additional $75 per pet, per night.
If it’s your first time staying here, you’ll definitely enjoy it as much as we did. Firstly, the Holiday Inn Bar Harbor Regency Hotel is quite luxurious, offering top-notch facilities and amenities. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in the pool and the hot tub after a long day of trekking through Acadia National Park. For dining, Stewman’s Lobster Pound, located within the hotel, is our go-to spot for indulging in high-quality seafood while enjoying the mesmerizing bay view. If we wanted to explore downtown Bar Harbor, a free shuttle was available.
Moreover, our pet-friendly room was perfect. While a suite was an option, a standard room was sufficient for our needs with just our puppy. Plus, we still got to have an ocean view from our balcony, so we had nothing to complain about.

Overall Best. When it comes to panoramic views, no one does it like Atlantic Eyrie Lodge, a highly-rated pet friendly hotel in Bar Harbor Maine. From the hotel’s high vantage point, we were able to feast on both the Atlantic Ocean view and the mountainous range of Acadia. To top it off, the benefits of staying here were endless. Whether it was the service and hospitality, or the facilities and freebies, the Atlantic Eyrie just kept them coming for us.
For instance, the pet policy was inclusive of cats and dogs weighing below 65 lbs, and we were allowed to bring up to 2 pets per room. We did have to pay an extra $45 for the pet fee, but it covers the whole stay and for two pets if you happen to bring an extra furry buddy.
As for the accommodation itself, we have nothing but high praises. Most of the rooms came with a balcony, and we got to choose a room with either an ocean view or a mountain view. Nevertheless, whichever view you get, rest assured that the room will bring immense relaxation and comfort.
