When the chilly winter air finally thaws, and the sun starts to stay up more each day, you know summer is finally here. When we got to work prepping our summer closet, the first thing we began with was footwear. After all, we had to take stock of what was left from last year and check out the trends this year, didn’t we? With our neverending list of things to do in the summer, we turned our attention to flip flops sandals for women. Whether we’re running errands on a hot day, lounging on our patio, or heading on a beach vacation, nothing works for us better than a good pair of flip-flops. Now, we’re used to not putting a lot of thought into flip-flops – they’re flip-flops! – but actually, the choice affects foot health.
While looking for excellent flip-flops for this year, there were quite a few factors we took into account. Firstly, we looked for good cushioning and arch support. Secondly, we avoided ones made from cheap material or those that are excessively flat or thin. Basically, we’ve considered more options than just the cheapest pair we could find and come up with a list of the best of the best – and which are not too heavy on the pocket either.
Are you starting off with building your summer accessories collection? Here are some cute summer bikinis for you to get started.

How To Choose The Best Flip-Flops Sandals For Women?
- Comfort: Yes, everyone’s feet are different, but comfort is universal. We primarily chose women’s flip-flops with arch support as they’re game-changers when it comes to comfort. We kept an eye out for sandals with raised heels and generous cushioning.
- Intended use: While flip-flops are super convenient, we narrowed down the choices based on their intended use. Since we basically live in flip-flops during summer, we’ve largely looked for versatile pairs that balance a comfortable fit and style.
- Size: It’s crucial to get the size right to get the most support and comfort out of your flip-flops. We tried on different flip-flops and did away with those where the length was too long or those whose straps felt too tight. Thus, we potentially avoided discomfort, pain, or even tripping over while wearing the sandals.
- Fit: Finally, we looked at the fit and paid attention to the with of the arch, the width of the footbed, and how stretchy the straps were.
OKABASHI Womens Maui Flip Flops
13
The OKABASHI Womens Maui Flip Flops are one of the best women’s flip-flops sandals. These manage to blend support with flexibility, which is the hardest line to tow!
Soles and traction
One of the features we liked the best was the flexible soles which don’t feel stiff with every step. At the same time, they provided good arch support that kept us comfortable all day long. What’s more, the footbed has textured bumps that made it feel like we were getting a gentle massage with every step. Another thing we loved about the soles was the footbed’s rubber material, which gripped onto the bottoms of our feet. So, even when we walked on slick or wet surfaces like the poolside, they didn’t slip and slide. Finally, the attached thong straps made them feel extra secure on our feet.
Sizing and fit
These Okabashi flip-flops have one of the most unique sizing, divided into S (US 5-6), M (US 6-7.5), M-L (US 8-9), L (9.5-10), and XL (US 11-12). While the sizing sounds awkward, it actually wasn’t that big a challenge to find our true size. Even if you’re between two sizes, like some of us, all you need to do is size up. For those who want a basic flip-flop for wearing around the pool or the house, these are one of the best flip-flops on Amazon.

Reef Cushion Court Flip Flops
12
Best cushioned flip-flops. We didn’t think that women’s flip-flops with arch support could be stylish, but the Reef Cushion Court Flip-Flops proved us wrong. Due to their incredibly plush feel, these sandals got our vote as the best-cushioned flip-flops.
Plush sole, vegan leather straps
Since they’re made from a thick foam material throughout the sandal, we felt them very cushioned and soft underneath our feet. At the same time, we never felt that they didn’t offer support. Despite being plush, they’re very well-made, boast sturdy soles, and offer great arch support. Topping off the comfort are the vegan leather straps, made of vegan leather, which were as well-made as they felt soft.
A huge plus point about these sandals is how quickly they dried. So, whenever we had to make trips from the pool to the Boardwalk, we weren’t worried about walking around in wet sandals.
Sizes
Since they also come in half sizes, it’s easy to find our true shoe size. When some of us felt that we were between sizes, we simply went a size up. That, combined with the sturdiness of the soles and the softness of the flip-flops, protected our feet from the rough terrain. We literally felt like we were walking on a cloud with every step! For those looking for flip-flops to wear straight from the pool to another activity or even a casual dinner, the Reef Cushion Courts await you.

Teva Womens Mush II Flip Flop
11
We were pleasantly surprised by just how soft and lightweight the Teva Womens Mush II Flip Flops were. For a 35 USD flip-flop, these are perfect for general outdoor and around-town use.
Bendy soles
Firstly, we loved the bendy sole, which allowed them to conform to our feet fully. At the same time, they’re by no means flimsy. The thick thong straps kept them on our feet so they didn’t slide or slip as we walked along. So, we were very happy that the typical nuisance which comes with most flip-flops is completely eliminated. While some of us felt the straps slightly tight on first wear, they stretched out easily after the first few times of wearing. The best bit? There were no blisters or chafing while we were breaking them in.

Sizes
We initially thought that the lack of half sizes would have us scrambling for the sizing. However, all we did was size up, and the fit was just about right. What’s more, the straps not being too loose or tight actually helped with the fit. Plus, we felt that the narrower toe box gives the sandals a slimmer profile. For those with regular toes like us, this design is just perfect.

Crocs Classic II Flip Flops
10
The Crocs Classic II Flip-Flops happens to be one of the best women’s flip-flops with arch support – and we happen to agree. The brand’s flip-flops are as amazing as their iconic clogs, and for more reasons than one.
Bump-detail soles
Take two of Crocs clogs best features – the bump details in the footbed and the Croslite foam, but in the form of a flip-flop sandal – and you get the Classic II. We loved how cushioned and lightweight they were, especially the bump detailing that felt like we were getting a gentle massage with each step. Even though we felt that the arches were slightly higher, they also provided gentle support. Another thing we liked was the firm sole that didn’t bend, all while providing generous support while also feeling very lightweight.
No break-in sizing
What we especially loved about this pair is that there was no break-in period for us at all. So, these classic flip-flops uphold the brand’s high-quality and fame of causing no discomfort for the first few wears. When it comes to the sizing, it did feel fairly true to size. That said, it might run a tad bit wide and big for those with narrow feet. However, they aren’t uncomfortable at all but instead add a layer of roominess and comfort.

Best ergonomic flip-flops. While looking for flip-flops sandals for women that are airy and lightweight, we chanced upon the Fitflop IQUSHIONs Ergonomic Flip-Flops. What we loved the most about them is that their subtle design features make them so comfy that we felt that we weren’t wearing any footwear at all!
Soles and footbed
The softness in these sandals comes from the lightweight, flexible air-foam cushioning, which didn’t weigh down our steps. What’s more, we also got additional support from impact pillows on the back and front, which reduced the discomfort when we walked on various different terrains. Despite being cushioned and soft, we didn’t feel like our feet were sinking. That was a big plus when we wore the sandals for longer times. It’s one of the reasons why FitFlop is one of the best flip-flop brands. Moreover, the anatomically-shaped footbed offered superior levels of arch support, thus minimizing foot fatigue for us.
Sizing and wearing comfort
These sandals come in both whole and half sizes. That, along with the stretchy and lightweight straps, makes them fit very well on our feet. Plus, we loved how easy they were to slip on and off. Hence, we were able to put them on and take them off very easily while doing chores when going to the beach or the pool. And even after wearing them many times, the simple rubber construction feels well-made.

Best value for money. Rock a minimal look with the Havaianas Womens Slim Flip-Flop Sandal, one of the best flip-flops sandals for women.
Traction soles
One of our favorite features of these Havaianas sandals is how lightweight they feel. Not just that, but also they’re incredibly flexible, which means that we almost felt like we weren’t wearing any shoes! What’s more, the cushioned insole added additional comfort, providing protection from the ground with each step too. So, we could wear these flip-flops to even pebbled beaches. Moreover, the bottoms are ridged, which also offered a good bit of security and traction even on slippery pool decks. Their only drawback? We couldn’t spend a lot of time on our feet in them due to their minimal arch support.
Sizing and colors
Costing just 20-30 USD when this article was being written, they are one of the most value-for-money options we tried. This is all the more true because they come in as many as 13 colors and prints ranging from pink and blue mountain ranges to solid neutrals to even beige and dark brown leopard print ones! We had a lot of fun trying on the different colors; we’re not going to lie! What made it all the better is that they’re easy to slip on and off and don’t leave any blisters on our feet.

Most packable. For us, packing shoes is one of the most tiresome parts of packing for a trip. That’s what made us go for the Teva Womens Olowahu Flip-Flops, which are the easiest flip-flops we’ve packed in our lives!
Packable soles
The Olowahu sandals are very lightweight with soft straps and a cushioned footbed, making it easy to fit them anywhere in our luggage. Thus, they leave more room for other essentials and utilize even the slimmest of spaces well. Thanks to the cushioning, they felt very soft when we were wearing them. Moreover, the soft straps didn’t cause any blisters or chafing as they stretched and molded to our feet throughout the day of wearing them. The best bit is that the flip-flops do extremely well on different terrains, from sand to grass to cement. So, when we wanted to hop from the Boardwalk to the beach and back, it was a breeze.
Sizing and fit
Even though they don’t have half sizes, the slightly snugger toe strap ensures that they sit securely on our feet. What also helped us was that those of us who were between sizes went up a size for comfort. Finally, what we loved about the sandals is that when they got wet, the footbed dried up relatively quickly. That’s why they’re one of the best beach sandals for women.

Most color options. Some of us struggle with pain in our legs and back and require slightly extra support when it comes to shoes. That’s why we chose the Aerothotic Orthotic Flip Flops, as they’re one of the best women’s flip-flops with arch support.
Soles with superior arch support
We loved all the superb ergonomic features that come loaded in these flip-flops, such as the gel-like conditioning of the footbed that softened our steps. Plus, they also have toe grips and cupped soles, which further soften and ease our steps. Moreover, the shoe’s bottom itself is made from thicker plastic and even has a square-shaped heel. So, even when we walked on harsh terrains like pebbled beaches, these flip-flops protected the bottoms of our feet. Since we prefer medium-high arches, these flip-flops are perfect for us.
Sizing and fit
Even though they come only in whole sizes, the flexible straps ensure that they stay on your feet securely. Besides being easy to put on and slip off, these flip-flops are also slightly bulkier and thicker than the others on this list and are thus durable too. And since they come in many colors, finding one that fits our feet well wasn’t an issue.
Since we felt a noticeably reduced difference in discomfort and foot fatigue after wearing these sandals, we certainly recommend them.

Chaco Womens Chillos Flip Flops

Chaco is known for making durable, long-lasting footwear, and the Chaco Womens Chillos Flip Flops are no exception. They might look heavy, but we were delighted by how lightweight they actually are.
Lightweight sole
These Chaco sandals have a ton of features that make them the perfect outdoor wear for us. For one, they dry super fast, which allowed us to quickly jump from the pool deck to the Boardwalk to the beach and back. Additionally, they also have a cushioned and thick footbed that protects our feet when we were walking on rough terrain like pebbled beaches or cobblestoned boulevards. The foamy sole, combined with the sturdy footbed, feels as lightweight as supportive. What we especially liked is the traction on the bottoms, which is a blessing for clumsy walkers like us on slippery, rocky, or dirty surfaces.
Sizing and snug fit
These sandals come only in full sizes, but we didn’t have a problem finding the right size for our feet. Moreover, the straps are also tough, ensuring a snug fit, even if they need one or two break-in wears. After all, they did adjust and mold to suit our feet over a period of time.

Lightweight supportive sole
For people like us who like wearing flip-flops all the time, these Skechers flip-flops are an excellent option. The soles and the sandals, in general, are durable, sturdy, and thick. Birkenstock never disappoints, and the Birkenstock Gizeh Essentials EVA Sandals are the perfect example of the same.
Expertly-molded sole
These sandals have a host of subtle features that make them as light as air. Like all Birkenstock footwear, these flip-flops boast a molded and anatomically-shaped footbed. It practically cradled our feet, which is especially great since most of us have different feet types. So, whether we were high-arched or flat-footed, these Birkenstocks world for many feet types. Thanks to the arch support, we didn’t feel tired even after a whole day of wearing them. In fact, they’d molded to our feet within an hour of wearing them! Even if they felt stiff the first time we wore them, the feeling quickly faded after a while.

The Clarks Womens Breeze Sea Flip Flops might not be the best-looking of sandals out there, but it works as a multi-summer flip-flop for more reasons than one. They combine comfort and durability with high quality, making for a dependable piece of footwear that we could use for a while.
Sole
We did feel the extra weight of the sandals, but that’s largely due to the thicker yet well-made and more durable sole. The EVA midsole was a favorite with us, as it offered shock absorption with every step, which makes them of the best flip-flops for plantar fasciitis. Moreover, the Cushionsoft foam on the top added even more support and padding for us.
