City center convenience
One of the biggest selling points of the Hampton Inn Downtown / French Quarter Area is shown in its name: the location. To be brutally honest, we couldn’t have asked for a better location. The streetcar line right outside the hotel was super convenient. We hopped on and off easily to explore the French Quarter, just a 3-minute walk away.
Being that close to the action was great, but it was also nice knowing we could retreat to a quieter area after soaking up the French Quarter‘s vibe. Plus, if you’re looking to venture a little further afield, the Audubon Zoo is just a quick car ride away. If you’re visiting the Big Easy with your family, this place is a must-visit.

The King Studio Suite
While there were so many rooms at the Hampton Inn Downtown / French Quarter Area, we decided to pick the King Studio Suite. While this isn’t a five-star hotel, the suite made us feel like we were in one. The king-sized bed allowed us to have a restful night’s sleep, and the sofa bed provided an extra sleeping option if needed. We also loved unwinding on the comfy lounge chair while catching up on our favorite shows on the large 42-inch HDTV. Need to get some work done? The suite also offers a spacious work desk and free Wi-Fi.
The bathroom was another highlight. The fluffy towels were luxurious, and the WaterPik showerhead and curved shower rod were also a nice addition. Overall, the King Studio Suite had everything we needed, and if you don’t mind spending a little bit more, it’s totally worth it.

A range of free amenities
We knew staying at Hampton Inn Downtown / French Quarter Area was the right call, but we didn’t expect the range of complimentary amenities offered by the hotel. For one, we were given free access to the well-equipped fitness center. It operates daily so that you can work up a sweat anytime. It has the usual cardio machines and weights, and it even has a Peloton bike, which is a nice perk for those who enjoy those spin classes. We were also surprised to find the Hydro Station, which kept us hydrated throughout our workout.
Beyond fitness, the Hampton Inn Carondelet New Orleans, Louisiana, also offers a complimentary evening manager’s reception on Wednesdays. This is a fantastic way to meet fellow travelers and unwind. Plus, the business center has free fax, photocopying, and printing services, which can come in handy for any last-minute business needs you may have.

Complimentary breakfast & nearby eats
The Hampton Inn Downtown / French Quarter Area doesn’t have a restaurant, but that wasn’t a dealbreaker for us. The hotel still offered us a free hot breakfast buffet, which allowed us to kick off our days with full energy and save some money on meals.
In addition, there’s a cool spot nearby called Hobnobber’s Variety Bar & Restaurant. We loved going there; the po’ boys and fried catfish were so good. Psst! Everything there is affordable, too! You don’t have to worry about dining as there are plenty of options without having to go far.

Exceeding expectations with exceptional service
While the location and room rates offered by Hampton Inn Downtown / French Quarter Area were great, the staff was equally exceptional throughout our stay. Whenever we had a question, no matter how small, the front desk staff was happy to assist us. One evening, we were lost trying to navigate the streetcar system. A friendly front desk staff member patiently explained the routes and helped us plan our itinerary for the next day, suggesting hidden gems we wouldn’t have found otherwise.
Every employee we interacted with outside the front desk seemed genuinely concerned about making our stay enjoyable. They definitely went the extra mile to ensure we had a positive experience staying at the Hampton Inn Carondelet, New Orleans, Louisiana.
“We first thought the hotel couldn’t get any better, but the service proved us wrong.”
