Historic Webster House, Bay City
11
Nestled along Michigan’s Sunrise Coast, the Historic Webster House radiates a romantic vibe and historic elegance. This enchanting B&B sits in a luxuriously restored mansion that has retained touches like hardwood floors and fireplaces.
The devil is indeed in the details at the Historic Webster House, where every room is different. Right from the Asian-inspired Nodoka Room to the fire-lit Keep Room, every space is unique, right down to the wallpaper. But what really blew our minds was that we had the choice of three rooms with private jacuzzi access. We loved and booked the Webster Room, which boasted a grand whirlpool tub right in the room, just steps from the bed. It made for the perfect romantic getaway, especially since we could order room service and enjoy our favorite movies on the TV, all while soaking in the bubbling waters.
What’s more, we even had access to an exclusive spa and sauna room upgrade, as we also wanted a personal retreat outside our suites. It basically worked like this – after we’d booked a room, we could even book private access to the dry cedar sauna, oversized jacuzzi, and massive shower for two. Do check out the packages and add-ons at this inn, as they’re absolutely worth it. Unwinding and relaxing with a couple’s massage and a bottle of wine was indeed the second-best thing of our stay – after the jacuzzi, of course.

Riverwalk Place Resort & Spa

In the heart of serene Gladwin sits the lovely Riverwalk Place Resort & Spa. We were looking for a place to enjoy an indulgent vacation, and this spa resort was perfect. The relaxing atmosphere, especially since the resort was ensconced by verdure, is the Oasis Salon & Spa. In fact, we could even build a custom spa package with massages and wellness body treatments so as to enjoy an amazing and romantic vacation. What made the entire experience even better was the fact that we had many options for jacuzzi rooms. No, not rooms with a jacuzzi in the bathroom, but one with a two-person jacuzzi right in our king suite. That, along with lovely verdant views from the huge windows, a luxe bathroom, a plush bed, and other mod-cons like a coffeemaker and a fridge, made our stay all the better.
The rest of the hotel was equally amazing, like the Riverwalk Grill restaurant on the property. It served all meals, including an amazing complimentary breakfast and cocktails in the evening. There was even a chic boutique on the property, which also hosted weddings and other events.

Weathervane Inn Montague

Best value for money. We loved the quaint Weathervane Inn in Montague, which is the perfect setting for a romantic and relaxing weekend getaway in Michigan. The small-town ambiance and hospitality of this lovely inn were just perfect for an intimate getaway on White Lake, right on Lake Michigan. The views surrounding the resorts were amazing, especially since the resort fronts its own marina on White Lake. Our days began with hearty complimentary breakfasts in the lobby, despite there being no onsite restaurant. So, digging into a breakfast of boiled eggs, pastries, pancakes, cereal, cream cheese, butter, jam, coffee, and juice was the best way to begin the day. Besides complimentary access to the America’s Fitness Center, we had a lot of outdoors to explore. So, we’d grab the bicycles and kayaks and go off exploring the neighborhood and the lake.
But what we loved the most were the many light-filled and spacious rooms and suites. What’s more, the best rooms on the porperty were the corner lake-view rooms, which offered picturesque views of the lake. In fact, we not only got the corner room, but we got a corner suite with a whirlpool tub right next to the window! So, we could enjoy a languorous soak with our beloved partner and soak in some fantastic views.

Bayshore Resort, Traverse City

When we spoke to any Michigander about exploring the gorgeous state, we always heard about Traverse City. So, we decided to escape to Bayshore Resort, which sits atop the ring finger of the Mitten State and was perfect for us wine aficionados. When we checked into the resort, we had an amazing choice of rooms and suites, all of which were classic, welcoming retreats. However, our favorite by far were the spa rooms, which had mirrored jacuzzi corners! So, we could lounge in the suite and sip glasses of bubbly or the region’s famous cherry wine in the jacuzzi while enjoying spectacular West Grand Traverse Bay views. And since the jacuzzi sat in a tiled corner of the room, it didn’t make the rest of the room wet. What could be better?
Since it sits on the shores of West Grand Traverse Bay, we’d take sunset walks on the beach and reinvigorate our romance. When we weren’t in the jacuzzi in our room, we’d be swimming in and lounging by the indoor pool and hot tub. Our days began with continental breakfasts daily, and the free Wi-Fi access allowed us to plan our itineraries. A fitness center, a games room, and a private beach area complete the picture of perfection.
In fact, the Bayshore Resort is one of the best beachfront hotels in Traverse City, MI.

Old Harbor Inn, South Haven

Most romantic. There are many things we loved about the innately romantic and intimate Old Harbor Inn in South Haven. It sat right on the Black River and offered some of the most romantic sweeping views of the river and Lake Michigan beyond. In fact, the picturesque boardwalk ran right behind the inn, beyond the lush gardens. So, after beginning our day with a decadent breakfast, we’d enjoy a swim in the indoor pool, which also boasted amazing views of the boardwalk and the Black River. Moreover, the restaurant was also a fabulous place to enjoy other meals, as well as sundowner drinks, followed by an intimate and romantic dinner right on the alfresco patio.
We loved the digs here, which were spread across four buildings, all of which were connected by the boardwalk and the lush gardens. What’s more, every room was one-of-a-kind but with mod-cons such as luxe bathrooms, robes, and flatscreen TVs. We chose to stay in one of the Harbor Grande rooms, which featured a huge jetted jacuzzi tub for the two of us right in the room. What was even better was that all Harbor Grande rooms were different, as were the jacuzzi types. For instance, our jacuzzi tub offered amazing views of the entire room and the river beyond from the patio.

Victoria Resort Bed & Breakfast, South Haven

The Victoria Resort Bed & Breakfast in South Haven was the exact opposite of how we’d imagined a bed and breakfast to be! It sat right in the heart of South Haven, just a block away from Lake Michigan, and thus offered some of the most gorgeous water views.
In fact, the B&B resort had many amenities, something that we hadn’t even seen in many hotels or resorts! What’s more, we didn’t feel like leaving the property. For instance, our days began with hearty homemade breakfasts of muffins, cereals, quiches, fresh fruit, egg and sausage souffle, homemade bread, and apple-baked French toast – yum! After that, we grab the rental bikes and go off exploring the lakefront. After a sweaty bike ride, we’d jump into the outdoor fenced swimming pool, complete with daybeds and parasols.
When we weren’t in the outdoor pool, we’d be in our deluxe king room, which boasted a whirlpool tub right in our room. So we could enjoy a soothing soak with our partner whenever we wanted. The best bit? Our room, along with others, even had fireplaces and kitchens for cooking romantic meals. That’s why it’s one of the most romantic hotels In Michigan.

Pigeon Creek Inn, Holland

Best adults-only. We were looking for an amazingly romantic adults-only retreat in Michigan, and we found the Pigeon Creek Inn in Holland. Sitting on 35 wooded acres of gorgeous verdant land, this lovely bed and breakfast inn offered us superb views of the amorous surroundings. In fact, every morning, after a delicious chef-prepared breakfast, we’d grab the free bikes and go off exploring the lovely property all day, along with a picnic lunch. In fact, the more adventurous couples could even go hiking the 35-acre wooded Pigeon Creek Trails, especially since the outdoors is so gorgeous.
At the end of the day, the best bit about this bed and breakfast is the cozy yet large rooms and suites. While they all have similar designs, their floor plans are all different. Nevertheless, they all came with king beds, flatscreen TVs, bespoke bath products, and jacuzzis for two people right in the rooms! In fact, our suite was so spacious that the jacuzzi sat right in the corner next to the window, right next to which was a door that led to an outdoor patio with alfresco seating. Not only that, but also there was a gas fireplace right in front of the plush bed. Did we mention that they would even deliver breakfast right to our suite? Yes!

Trumbull and Porter Hotel

In the very heart of Detroit’s Downtown sits the Trumbull & Porter Hotel, a cool hotel in an equally cool and trendy neighborhood that boasts a funky design. From its hallway art displays to the murals, every bit of this artisan boutique hotel got our creative juices flowing.
The romantic tone is set right in the lobby, where a love poem to Detroit is etched into a whole feature wall. What’s more, we loved the many amenities and facilities here, starting with the concierge service and a 24-hour front desk. There’s also an artisan espresso bar with a nice lounge area where we’d spend time after sightseeing the entire day, as well as a fitness center and a shop. Thanks to the restaurant which served all meals, along with room service, we didn’t have to worry about stepping out even for food. Finally, the lovely back patio with a fire pit was perfect for yard games and snuggling under the stars.
We love ourselves a mix of classic luxury and an urban escape, which is why we loved the whirlpool rooms. It not only had a plush bed and a luxe bathroom but also a splashy blue hot tub in the corner, where we’d sink into the jacuzzi bubbles.

The Leo Collection Detroit, Ascend Hotel Collection

The new roost in Detroit is the Leo Collection Detroit, part of the Ascend Hotel Collection, and still one of the best cheap hotels in Detroit. In fact, the in-room jacuzzi stay options at this hotel were one of the best we found in the entire state! No, we aren’t kidding. We had the option of many jacuzzi suites at this hotel, all of which boasted a huge two-person jacuzzi tub right in the room. But that’s not all. While most other in-room jacuzzi stays we saw had the hot tub right in the room, this one had the huge two-person jacuzzi in a separate space off the bedroom. What’s more, this relaxing space even had a wall-mounted glass fireplace and air-conditioning, depending on when someone was visiting the city. How cool is that!
“We loved that the jacuzzis were right in the room, but in a separate unwinding space, which we’ve never seen in a hotel before.”
WOW Travel
The rest of the hotel was equally amazing. We’d start our mornings at this hotel with hearty complimentary continental breakfasts, which include everything from hot to cold items. Later on, we’d enjoy a refreshing swim in the indoor pool. Of course, thanks to the free Wi-Fi, we could browse the internet and prepare our itineraries for the next day.

Munro House Bed And Breakfast, Jonesville

We love historic structures, and we love B&Bs. So, it was obvious why we chose the lovely and utterly charming Munro House Bed and Breakfast in Jonesville. Not only was it a romantic place to stay, but the historic structure is one of the oldest houses and first brick buildings in Hillside County! We had the choice of just seven rooms, which made staying here very intimate and exclusive. What’s more, each room or suite was one of a kind while still featuring some amazing touches. While some had gas fireplaces, others had wonderful jacuzzi tubs for two people, like ours. We had the choice of George’s and Clara’s rooms, both of which came with huge jacuzzi tubs for two people, where we’d lounge with glasses of wine or bubbly. Plus, they had a bunch of other mod-cons, such as free Wi-Fi, cable TVs, luxe baths, and even a baby grand piano.
Since we loved mingling with people, the large common room was perfect for us. What made it especially amazing was that the B&B offered many packages, such as cooking parties, romantic weekends, and even murder mystery dinners! So, you could actually pick a vacation of your choice. That said, some of the best features of the B&B were the made-to-order breakfast and the many spa services, like a couples massage.

Bay Pointe Inn And Restaurant, Shelbyville

Most luxurious. Sitting at the top of the list is the Bay Pointe Inn And Restaurant in Shelbyville. It might just be Michigan’s most romantic hotel, sitting along the southern shores of Gun Lake. There were many activities to keep us adventurous couples interested, so we did everything from renting boats to renting kayaks so we could explore the waters of the lake. Aside from a fitness center, the resort also boasted a heated indoor swimming pool, which meant that we could go swimming in any season. After a swim, we’d sprawl on the sun patio or even enjoy a jetted soak in the bubbling waters of the hot tub.
However, since we also wanted to enjoy jetted soaks in the comfort and privacy of our own room, we were covered. That’s because every spacious suite had not just a fireplace but also a whirlpool tub! So we could enjoy romantic soaks with our partners whenever we wanted. After a soak, we’d put on our fluffy robes and enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony. There was even a kitchenette where we’d whip up coffee in the Keurig coffeemaker and even cook romantic meals whenever we wanted. Since we were on a romantic holiday, we even chose a package with luxury romantic touches like chocolates, champagne, and scattered rose petals.

Where to Stay in Michigan?
Home to the stunning Lake Superior coastline, the state of Michigan is very, very charming. So much so that choosing a place to stay can be quite overwhelming. That’s why we’ve prepared the following guide for you.
We begin with Detroit, which is the go-to destination for those who love to experience excellent nightlife. What’s more, it’s also home to some world-class museums, like the Detroit Institute of Arts. Secondly, there’s the charming Mackinac Island, which felt like a romantic vacation from the 1800s. Those looking for a laidback summer vacation should visit Port Huron, which borders both the St. Clair River and Lake Huron.
One of our favorite romantic getaways in all of Michigan is Holland, which made us feel we were actually in the Dutch region. In fact, the town’s Dutch roots are so evident that it even grows millions of tulips annually! During Christmas, visit the Bavarian-themed Frankenmuth, and head to Harbor Springs if your idea of a romantic sojourn is to bike around or stay indoors. Finally, the beachside towns of Traverse City, Frankfort, Saugatuck, and Grand Haven are excellent for a waterfront romantic getaway.

We delighted in everything from rotisserie-roasted meats and brick-oven pizzas to homemade pasta and freshly prepared tiramisu.
- The Voyageur, St. Clair: Romance is in the air at the utterly romantic Voyageur, which is tucked on the St. Clair River shoreline and offers wonderful views, especially with boats passing by during summer when we were there. Since we wanted excellent views, we arrived early and even booked the window table! Plus, we got to dig into comfort food, such as ribeye steaks, jumbo shrimp cocktails, clam chowder, and mozzarella sticks.
