First impressions matter, and La Pieve made a perfect one. The location alone deserves five stars, as it’s tucked right in the heart of the old town, with Piazza Grande just a three-minute walk away. We were perfectly placed for exploring the winding cobblestone streets, sipping local wine, and hopping between charming trattorias.

After hours spent wandering, we loved coming back to La Pieve’s peaceful little garden and terrace. It felt like a secret corner away from the crowds. It was just us and a glass of vino. There’s even an outdoor play area, which makes it great for families.

We booked the Superior Double Room for our stay. The private bathroom came stocked with free toiletries, a shower, a bidet, and a hairdryer, and we appreciated the little touches like the welcome chocolates on the table! Moreover, the air conditioning was a lifesaver after hot afternoons in the sun, and since our room faced a quiet street, we slept like babies.

Il Gentiluomo Hotel & SPA

We stayed at Il Gentiluomo Hotel & SPA for a quick getaway and were surprised by how easy it was to find. It’s located just off the motorway, which made arriving stress-free, and there’s plenty of parking. The hotel is only about a 10-minute drive from Arezzo, so it’s a great base for exploring the area. We got there earlier than check-in time, but the staff at reception were so friendly and let us into our room right away.

That said, our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The air conditioning worked well, the soundproofing meant we barely heard a thing from outside, and we even had a small terrace overlooking the garden. The bathroom was modern with a good shower. Overall, it was nothing over the top, but everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

In the evening, we ate at the hotel restaurant, and it was really convenient. The menu was simple, but the food was tasty and freshly made. Breakfast the next morning was excellent with a nice variety of options. We also booked a session at the spa, which ended up being one of the highlights of our stay. The massage was fantastic!

Antiche Mura

Best Budget. For those who are looking for a more budget-friendly stay, Antiche Mura is the place to be. This B&B is located in the upper part of the Old Town, just around the corner from the cathedral and Prato Park. The location is quiet but still really central, which made it easy for us to walk pretty much everywhere. Even though it’s in a limited traffic zone, we were able to drop off our luggage right at the door before parking in the big public car park nearby. There was even an escalator that brought us back up to the cathedral square, which was super convenient.

Inside, the place is small but thoughtfully set up. We loved the modern conveniences. The QR codes in the rooms link to maps, restaurant tips, and practical info, but there’s a corner with brochures and guides if you prefer paper. Patrizio and Barbara, the hosts, were genuinely kind and quick to help with anything we needed.

Our room had a lot of character, with wooden floors, ceiling beams, and white plaster walls that gave it a classic feel. Each room has a woman’s name, inspired by figures from history or literature. The style throughout the place is simple, cozy, and a bit rustic. It was nothing over the top, just comfortable and well cared for.

We have to talk about Hotel Continentale. It’s right on Piazza Guido Monaco, so everything we needed was within walking distance. From shops to cafes and restaurants, you name it. Even the train station was only a few minutes away, which made it super easy to get around, and we loved that the Basilica of San Francesco was just a short walk, too.

Breakfast here was a great way to kick off the day. The buffet was generous and had plenty of local options, including some classic Tuscan bites. The hotel also has a rooftop terrace with a nice view of the old town, and we found ourselves going up there more than once for a drink from the bar, which is open all day.

We booked the Junior Suite, and it was really comfortable. It had a separate living area, a bedroom, and two bathrooms. The room came with all the basics you’d expect: air-conditioning, a minibar, a safe, and a flat-screen TV. After walking around all day, it was nice to come back to a clean, quiet space that actually felt roomy.

Hotel Le Capanne may be your new favorite hotel in Arezzo Italy! Location-wise, it’s about a 10-minute drive from the city, tucked near the Tuscan hills. But what made our stay special was the activities we could do. There’s a riding stable just a short walk away, and the staff were really helpful with local tips. They even helped us book one of their alpaca walks!

We booked the Studio Apartment, which worked perfectly for our few days’ stay. It’s a split-level setup with a small living room and a hidden kitchenette that had everything we needed for quick breakfasts. Having two mini-bars and two TVs felt like a fun bonus, and the place had independent heating and air conditioning, too.

The hotel’s restaurant, L’Angolo delle Capanne, was another highlight. The food was simple but really well done. We had fresh pasta, local meats, and good regional wine. In the summer, they serve dinner outside under the stone arches.

When we first heard about Vogue Hotel, we immediately imagined a highly stylish hotel, and it didn’t disappoint. This place certainly knows the secret recipe to keep itself classic yet modern. Let’s take a look at our Double Room, for example. It was bigger than we expected, with stone walls, wooden beams, and a layout that made the space feel warm and comfortable.

The bathroom setup was surprisingly clever, too. Imagine a big soaking tub tucked behind a glass headboard and a roomy shower with a window. Everything felt well thought out, from the cozy fabrics to the solid wood furniture that gave the room a personal, lived-in touch. It wasn’t generic or overly trendy, which we really appreciated after staying in too many copy-paste boutique hotels.

What we loved most, though, was the location and view. From our window, we could see the town’s rooftops and towers, and all the main sights were just a short walk away. Most Tranquil. Tucked away in the hills of Arezzo, Badia di Pomaio is like a secret sanctuary. The atmosphere is serene yet full of history, surrounded by lush gardens, forest paths, and quiet hideouts that make you never want to leave. Our room captured the same balance, complete with locally sourced treats and indulgent Bulgari amenities.

We ended up spending most of our afternoons by the pool. It’s an infinity pool bordered by greenery, perfect for enjoying the views. We’d swim a bit, take a nap, have a drink, and do it all again. Since the water’s heated, it was always comfortable. No jumping in with a shock of cold!

Bar Serra turned out to be another favorite. It’s the more modern part of the property, designed with glass and steel but still warm and inviting thanks to the lighting and natural details. The bartenders were great company, and their pomegranate spritz quickly became our go-to. We also joined Mario, the sommelier, for a tasting in the wine cellar, and his enthusiasm made the whole experience even more memorable.

We stayed at Cuprena for a few nights while exploring the Arezzo area, and we loved every single aspect of it. First of all, it’s only about 10 minutes from Arezzo but feels completely rural, surrounded by hills and countryside. There are cycling routes nearby for all levels and walking paths that start right from the garden and lead through the trees down to the River Arno.

The property has a free private spa you can book, which was one of our favorite parts. We loved the warm indoor pool, the outdoor barrel sauna, and the small gym. There’s also a lovely open-air pool for summer days, with shady spots and loungers. You can order drinks or snacks by WhatsApp, and they’ll bring them anywhere on the grounds, which makes things super easy. We also liked the fruit and vegetable garden in front of the main house and the field-to-table cooking class they organize.

The rooms at Cuprena are simple but stylish, with a consistent natural look throughout. Think pale limewashed walls, terracotta floors, wooden beams, and solid wood furniture. Ours had plenty of space, good storage, and lots of outlets by the bed, which we appreciated. The bathrooms are modern, with big showers and nice toiletries, and a couple of rooms have private patios if you want extra privacy.

Graziella Patio Hotel

Graziella Patio Hotel is one of the most interesting hotels in Arezzo Italy we’ve ever booked. The hotel sits inside an old palace just around the corner from the Piero della Francesca frescoes, which already gives it great atmosphere. The theme is based on the travel writings of Bruce Chatwin, and while that might sound a bit quirky, it actually fits really well.

Each room has its own look, and they really lean into the travel-inspired vibe. We got to see the Colonial India room, with bright yellow walls and a four-poster bed that feels perfectly suited to the building’s old-world character. The Moroccan room stood out too, with colorful tilework that reminded us of the local frescoes. On the lower floor, there are a few over-the-top rooms that open onto a quiet garden. One even has a hot tub that’s basically the size of a small pool, and another features a sunken bathtub you reach by walking down a few steps behind the bed.

Beyond the design, Graziella Patio is just a comfortable place to stay. The lounge and breakfast area have a more modern feel, which balances out the ornate rooms nicely. You can even borrow a MacBook during your stay, which we actually used to plan our sightseeing, and there are spa services if you want to relax after a day of exploring.

Best Luxury. Il Borro Relais & Châteaux is the perfect choice for those looking for pure tranquility and luxury. Nestled within rolling vineyards and forested hills, this centuries-old hamlet feels like a step back in time. With no cars permitted beyond the resort’s shuttles, the quiet is almost magical. Strolling the ancient cobblestone lanes, accompanied only by birdsong and the cold breeze, was a highlight of our stay.

Throughout our stay, we always had something to do. Some days, we were horseback riding through lush vineyards and riding bikes along scenic paths; the others, we were joining cooking classes and wine tasting at one of Tuscany’s finest estates. And when we wanted nothing more than to unwind, we would simply relax by the outdoor pool, soaking in the peaceful surroundings.

We stayed in the Prestige Suite, a guest favorite—and for good reason. Castello di Gargonza

Best Value for Money. We knew our stay at Castello di Gargonza would be great, but it still managed to surprise us in many ways. First of all, the whole place is surrounded by a huge estate of woodlands, and even if you’re not staying overnight, it’s worth stopping by just to explore. The old stone buildings, quiet lanes, and the little church give it a genuine, lived-in feel. The church still holds services every other Sunday and can host weddings, making it a naturally romantic spot.

What we loved most was the balance between history and comfort. The owner, Neri, his wife, Elisa, and their team make the place feel like a small community. The reception runs from 8 AM to 8 PM, and guests can use the cozy lounge in the former olive mill anytime. There’s an open fire, lots of sofas, and the only TV in the entire village. Want to wind down? Take a dip in the outdoor pool, complete with loungers and a bar. You can also stroll around in the garden and play table tennis in the big hall.

The rooms are spread across the village, each one unique and named after someone who used to live there. Ours had a few quirky corners, an open fireplace, and a small kitchenette. There are no TVs, but that actually fits the relaxed atmosphere. Every room still has a minibar and kettle, so you’ve got the basics covered.
