When we first booked the Novotel Manaus, we noticed it sat a bit further from the city center than some other options. Though we almost second-guessed ourselves, we’re glad we decided to still give it a chance. The surroundings are remarkably peaceful, and the property itself is a notch above the hotels closer to downtown. Yes, we spent a little extra on rides to and from the city, but it was an easy trade-off for the quality and tranquility we enjoyed.

Our room was beautifully appointed and spacious, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and pillows that made every night a treat. Small but appreciated details like a spot to hang wet clothes and enough bathroom space for our toiletries showed real thoughtfulness. We were also thrilled to leave our bags safely at the hotel during our jungle walk, and the complimentary flavored water and delicious cookies at reception were a lovely welcome.

The breakfast, though, truly stole the show. Everything felt fresh and carefully curated, from the vibrant seasonal fruits to the rich coffee and impressive selection of regional fruit juices. Mr. Paulo, who prepares the omelets, tapiocas, and caboquinho, was the undisputed star. His creations were delicious, and his infectious enthusiasm made every morning feel like a celebration. The restaurant’s other meals were equally impressive. The parmigiana and the Caesar and Novotel salads were standouts, and the prices were remarkably reasonable, even beating local bars on drinks.

Best Budget. If you need a place to rest that won’t drain your wallet before the real adventure starts, Express Vieiralves is the place to be. Tucked into a bustling commercial area of Manaus, just under 10 miles (16 km) from the airport, the hotel punches well above its weight for a budget option. Reliable WiFi, a functioning business center, and an on-site restaurant and bar meant we had everything we needed without venturing far.

The rooms here are clean, modern, and equipped with the essentials. We had great air conditioning, which was a must given the humidity, and extras like a mini-bar, an in-room safe, and a hairdryer showed that the hotel put real thought into guest comfort, even at this price point. Nothing was over the top, but nothing felt lacking either.

If you’re a foodie, you’ll be pleased to know that there are countless bars and restaurants sprinkled around the hotel. We also made sure to enjoy the hotel’s own breakfast buffet, which offered a lovely spread of fresh fruits, breads, and cold cuts alongside regional specialties and refreshing local drinks.

Just a short walk from the iconic Amazon Theatre and its lively surrounding plaza, the Seringal Hotel earned its place as one of our favorite stops on this trip. Boutique gift shops, a handful of great restaurants, and the buzz of the park are all within easy reach. But it was the warmth of the staff that truly set the tone for our visit. From the second we arrived, smiles and top-notch service followed us everywhere.

Now, we won’t sugarcoat it, the hotel wears its age. The furniture and décor carry a vintage character that clearly dates back a few decades. But here’s the thing: none of that really mattered. Our beds were surprisingly comfortable, the linens were crisp and clean, and the overall tidiness of the space told us the team genuinely took pride in their work. Sometimes, a great night’s sleep and a spotless room speak louder than fancy trimmings ever could.

What about our dining experience? Breakfast was an expansive buffet. Think mountains of fresh tropical fruit, pitchers of vibrant juices, an impressive spread of pastries in every shape and flavor, and a made-to-order omelette and pancake station. During our stay, the lobby and restaurant hosted a string of events, from live music to birthday celebrations to what appeared to be a wedding, but remarkably, none of it ever disrupted our experience. If anything, it added a festive energy that made the place feel alive.

Blue Tree Premium Manaus

If you’re looking for a hassle-free hotel experience in Manaus, Blue Tree Premium deserves a spot on your shortlist. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that this property delivers exactly what it promises. The facilities are genuinely useful. The pool offers a nice panoramic view of the city, and having the gym, spa, and playground all within the premises meant we never had to leave for anything.

Staff interaction was consistently nice throughout our visit. Everyone was polite, responsive, and efficient, and that reliability mattered more than grand gestures. The housekeeping team, in particular, kept our room in immaculate condition each day. Walking into a tidied, well-organized space after a long day out made a bigger difference than you might expect.

Breakfast was another highlight worth singling out. We had tons of options, and the dining area felt comfortable. One dish clearly stole the show: tapioca topped with tucumã and white cheese. It was rich, flavorful, and memorable. If you stay here, don’t skip it.

Mercure Manaus

Set in the heart of Adrianópolis, Mercure Manaus delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a city hotel. Personally, we loved the easy access to everything Manaus has to offer. Getting around was effortless; whether on foot or by public transport, shops, dining spots, and entertainment were all within easy reach, no map or GPS required.

The recreational facilities here deserve a special mention. The outdoor pool became our default way to cool down after sightseeing, and the sauna was perfect close out an exhausting evening. For those mornings when motivation strikes, the gym is compact but well-equipped enough for a solid session. The dining options on-site impressed us, too. The breakfast was generous and had a lot of variety, making it hard to leave the table.

Furthermore, our Superior Queen Room exceeded initial expectations in terms of size. It felt open and comfortable, but what truly set it apart was the small kitchenette, which gave us the freedom to prepare our own light meals. Finishing touches like the polished parquet flooring and the pleasant city views from the window added a layer of charm that elevated the whole experience.

Juma Ópera Boutique Hotel & Spa

Located just a stone’s throw from the iconic Amazon Theatre, the Juma Ópera Boutique Hotel & Spa was one of our ‘most’ favorite hotels in Manaus Brazil. The positioning alone made it worth the stay. Everything the city has to offer, from the bustling port to the historic cathedral and vibrant local market, was easily reachable on foot.

As a boutique hotel, it delivers exactly what the category promises. The property is intimate in scale, thoughtfully designed, and polished in every detail. We were very happy with our Premium Room, which came equipped with a lovely Juliet balcony overlooking the opera house. Space was on the compact side, but the furnishings were quality pieces, and the bathroom was immaculate. The mattress also deserves a special mention, as it was one of the most restful beds we’ve slept in during our travels.

We also have to mention our dining experience. The kitchen clearly takes pride in blending traditional Brazilian cuisine with local Amazonian ingredients. Our standout meal featured a beautifully prepared filet mignon paired with a vibrant regional fruit sauce, finished off with churros accompanied by yet another fruit concoction and ice cream made from Brazil nuts. Rounding out the amenities, the property offers a fitness room, a refreshing swimming pool, and a spa.

Hotel Adrianópolis All Suites

Best Suite. When we first arrived at Hotel Adrianópolis All Suites, we immediately knew we had picked the right place to stay in Manaus. Tucked away in one of the city’s more upscale neighborhoods, the hotel is just a short drive from Manauara Shopping and is conveniently close to the airport, the historic center, and the local arena. As the flagship property of the Manaus Hotéis network, it promised a high standard of comfort, and it delivered.

Our suite was nothing short of impressive. At a generous 45 sqm (484.37 sq ft), it came fully equipped. We had our own sitting area, a kitchenette with a minibar, microwave, and cooktop, along with a private balcony offering lovely views of the city. Despite that, we also loved spending our time outside our suite, like the panoramic rooftop pool.

The breakfast was also a highlight. There were so many choices to choose from that we were overwhelmed (in a good way). We highly recommend trying out the regional fruits, though. And to burn those calories, you can take advantage of the hotel’s gym and sauna.

Nestled along the banks of the Negro River and just a stone’s throw from Ponta Negra Beach, Tropical Executive Hotel instantly captured our attention the moment we set foot on the property. The location is something special, but this establishment clearly has a lot more going for it than just a stunning backdrop.

We opted for the Premium Room during our visit, and it delivered on every front. Equipped with a flat-screen TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a mini fridge, the room had everything we needed to feel right at home. Room service was a pleasant addition, and waking up each morning to a panoramic view of the river made every moment feel like a luxury.

The amenities at this hotel are worth highlighting as well. A full breakfast was included with our stay, and the quality of the food impressed us. On-site parking made arrivals and departures completely hassle-free. We also spent a good amount of time relaxing at the casual dining spot and enjoying cocktails at the lobby bar. And while the gym and sauna offered a nice way to unwind, it was the outdoor pool that truly stole the show. Perched with a direct view of the river, it is an absolute must-experience, especially during the golden hours of sunset.

The rooms here are kind of like an apartment. Ours was a big surprise in terms of space and comfort. It had a private balcony, air conditioning, a mini fridge, reliable Wi-Fi, and a comfortable bed. We even had our own kitchen! A standout detail was the direct garage access to Shopping Millennium and the rooftop pool, which offered a stunning panoramic view of the city.

It was the little things that truly won us over. Breakfast was simple but well-curated, with fresh, quality items to fuel our days. The service was consistently warm and attentive, especially the reception team, who always went out of their way to help with a genuine smile. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Manaus.

Grand Amazon Expedition

Best Luxury. If you want to experience the best 5-star hotels in Manaus, Brazil, the Grand Amazon Expedition is a great way to do it. This floating hotel carried us through stunning stretches of the Solimões and Negro rivers, placing the raw beauty of the Amazon Rainforest right outside our window. It’s not your typical river cruise. Think luxury meets adventure. With departures on Mondays and Fridays, fitting it into your travel plans is easier than you’d expect, whether you’re after a quick escape or a longer journey.

Comfort and adventure blended seamlessly throughout the trip. Between excursions, we found ourselves lounging by the pool or soaking in the hot tub, while evenings brought local folk performances and talks on Amazon wildlife. The activities team kept things exciting with boat rides, jungle treks, and river dolphin spotting, though we’d recommend booking that last one well in advance.

Two restaurants and two bars serve everything from authentic Amazonian cuisine to familiar international dishes, and sipping cocktails while the jungle drifts by is an experience hard to beat. We went for seven nights, and it was absolutely worth every moment.

Best Location. Nestled in the heart of Manaus’s historic district, Hotel Villa Amazônia delivered a pleasant experience from start to finish. The location alone makes it a smart choice for any traveler looking to explore the city without the hassle of relying on transportation. Within a short stroll, we could easily reach attractions like Mirante Lúcia Almeida and the Adolpho Lisboa Market.

We spent three nights in a Standard Room and found it to be spacious and well-appointed. The layout offered plenty of room to spread out, and the bathroom was equally generous in size. Small touches mattered here. The toiletries were from the Phytoervas line, and having clean, filtered water right in the room was so thoughtful!

Mornings at the hotel were a highlight. The breakfast spread was impressive in both variety and quality, with a nice focus on local and regional dishes that gave us a real taste of the area. When it comes to unwinding, the pool area is a lovely spot, shaded by palm trees and offering a calm escape from the city. The jambu caipirinha served there is worth seeking out, too. Finally, a small gym is also available on the premises for those who like to keep up with their routines while traveling.
