Residence Inn by Marriott San Antonio Downtown Market Square

Best Riverwalk Shuttle. We’re glad we decided to stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott San Antonio Downtown Market Square. We loved that Historic Market Square was just a short 8-minute walk away. And while the Riverwalk was only about a mile from the hotel, we quickly got spoiled by the hotel’s complimentary shuttle to the park. It was always on time and saved us from spending extra on parking or rideshares.
While all the room options were lovely, we decided to go with one of the suites. We had a well-stocked kitchen, so we didn’t always have to go out for food. We also loved having a separate living room, a.k.a our go-to spot for a 15-minute nap. Our suite was even equipped with a fireplace, perfect for those chilly nights.
In our spare time, we were either swimming in the pool, taking a dip in the hot tub, or working out in the 24/7 fitness center. Hell, the hotel also offers a grocery delivery option, and it has an on-site convenience store. It honestly had thought of everything!

Best Amenities. You can’t talk about the best hotels in San Antonio with free parking without mentioning the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott San Antonio Downtown/Market Square. The Riverwalk was literally just a quick drive away (about two songs on our playlist), the Alamo only a mile out, and Market Square close enough to walk to in 10 minutes.
We booked the Executive King Suite, and it was fantastic. The sofa became our favorite spot to crash with a movie, and the bed was just as cozy. We literally slept like rocks. We even found ourselves admiring the floral curtains, which gave the room a warm, lovely touch. Everything was spotless, the bathroom sparkling, and the Wi-Fi fast enough to stream.
This hotel is all about free stuff. We’re talking about free parking and free breakfast, as well as a complimentary shuttle that made things even smoother. There was also a gym, a small shop, and laundry machines. It all added up to a stay that felt way more thoughtful than we expected.
Also, did you know that this Fairfield Inn is also named one of the best extended stays in San Antonio?

Most Charming. What are the two must-haves for your getaway? If they’re a fair price and free parking, we’re sure you’ll love Inn on the Riverwalk. Tucked at the end of a quiet little street with no traffic, it was peaceful yet still so close to everything. We could walk to the Riverwalk in minutes and go to the King William historic district just as easily. Having free off-street parking waiting for us each night made it even better.
Breakfast was a highlight when we could catch it, though we missed out on a couple of mornings because we were off exploring early. The food we did have was fresh and delicious, and the coffee, which was always available, became our best friend.
The inn itself had so much personality. From the creaky staircases to the charming old floors, it felt cozy and full of character. Even though the bathroom was a bit small, it was spotless. Our favorite part, though, was our private balcony and the lovely, vintage decor of our room.

Most Comfortable. La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham San Antonio Downtown sure knows a thing or two about convenience. The hotel is right in the middle of the city, just a few minutes from the Riverwalk. We loved how easy it was to spot and how close it felt to everything we wanted to see. Stress? Not in their dictionary!
Check-in was a breeze, and before we knew it, we were settling into our room. Nothing fancy, but it had all the little things we needed. We loved having slow mornings with a cup of coffee. We even had an iron, so we didn’t look wrinkled heading out. The Wi-Fi worked without a hitch, and we couldn’t resist dipping into the outdoor pool.
Aside from free parking, the hotel also offers free breakfast for guests. The combination of hot waffles, eggs, and tea was hard to beat. We also made sure to squeeze in a quick workout during our trip. It was well-equipped, clean, and never too crowded.

Best View. The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites San Antonio – Rivercenter Area by IHG is only less than a mile away from the Riverwalk. We wanted a hotel that was easy, affordable, and close to where the action happens, and this hotel checked all the boxes. We never had to stress about getting around.
While the Standard Rooms are nice, we wanted something a little more luxurious, which was why we decided to go with the King Suite. The modern touches made it feel fresh, and we loved having a microwave and a coffeemaker. The shower had great water pressure, and we loved ending the day in the whirlpool tub. And the view? Perfect!
“Our King Suite is arguably one of the best ones in the city. The amenities are perfect, and the view seals the deal.”

Best Value for Money. We wanted a place close to all the exciting things but still affordable, and La Hacienda Inn near Alamodome & Riverwalk was the perfect choice. From the hotel, we could easily walk to the Alamodome, The Alamo, and even the Riverwalk in under 15 minutes.
We got the King Room, and though it was simple, we felt right at home. We made use of the fridge and microwave for quick snacks, and the coffee maker was one of our favorite amenities. However, the most important thing was how quiet our room was. We were able to have a good night’s sleep every time.
Furthermore, the staff there was friendly, and having a 24-hour front desk made things easy when we checked in late. Parking was free for one car per room, which is always a win for any traveler with a car.
