Millennium Premier New York Times Square
11
Best hotel for couples: Located just steps from Broadway, Millennium Premier New York Times Square is our favorite boutique hotel around Times Square. This is not the fanciest of hotels, but every time we stay here, we get our money’s worth. It is far enough from the main street to keep the noise out but still close enough to walk to the most important venues on Broadway. Furthermore, its thickened walls ensure that noise from neighboring rooms doesn’t affect the peace of your room which is a huge plus for an affordable hotel in New York’s Theater district.
The hotel lobby is stylishly decorated, giving the feel of a classy modern accommodation. We’ve never had issues at check-in and our rooms are always clean, including the bathrooms. Its blue and white themed rooms are spacious and cozy, with large bathrooms that can comfortably accommodate two people. We have a very high standard for cleanliness, especially the bathrooms, and we have never been disappointed at this hotel. The bathrooms also come with extra towels, plus extra bedsheets at no extra cost.

Hyatt Centric Times Square New York

Conveniently located between Sixth Avenue and Times Square, Hyatt Centric Times Square New York is right in the heart of the action. Our favorite part of this hotel is the perfect view of Times Square from the 54th-floor rooftop bar. We had everything you expect in a five-star hotel here, from a dedicated concierge desk to help with luggage and reservations to one of the best-stocked rooms we’ve ever booked in Manhattan.
Real estate is in high demand around Times Square but Hyatt Centric is super generous with room space. Our corner room on the 49th floor had a clear view of Times Square, but we weren’t charged a premium for it which was nice. The room had two king beds with soft orthopedic foams and top-quality linens. We also got extra towels and pillows immediately upon request. The air conditioning worked perfectly, as did the adjustable bedside lights.
Despite the busy streets below, our room was quiet throughout the night. We were also within walking distance of the Broadway Theater. Better still, the concierge service also helped us with the ticket reservations which was great.

Located at the corner of 47th and Broadway, Hotel Edison is one of the most historic hotels near Time Square. This classic hotel is just a block from the center of Times Square, with ticket booths right outside the hotel and Broadway theaters within walking distance. We booked a signature king room here for a long stay and had a good experience. The best thing was that the hotel picked up our group at the airport.
Its hotel’s marble lobby is a tribute to the history of boutique hotels in New York. We couldn’t get adjacent rooms for our group of five so we were split between the ninth and 12th floors. Our room had a big comfortable bed and chairs as well as complimentary water and enough toiletries. We also got complimentary breakfast at either of the two restaurants downstairs. Moreover, we had a decent city view, although the scaffolding on the windows was a drawback.
We had breakfast at both Friedman’s and Bond 45 on alternating days and were impressed by the service at both restaurants. Rum House, the in-house bar, also had happy hour daily which made the evenings enjoyable. However, the best part of our stay here was that the street in front of the hotel was blocked off from traffic, making it safe to walk.

While looking to enjoy the luxury of a heated indoor pool and a hot tub, we booked a junior suite here. From extra roll pillows to a late evening massage, The Chatwal offered us a customized five-star experience. We were able to redeem multiple travel reward credits at this hotel which was a huge plus because we were in a group. The staff was super friendly and helpful, with all our requests including room service being met promptly.
“Staying at the Chatwal was a luxurious NYC experience that we’ve never had before, and we loved it!”
WOW Travel
Normally, we have very little tolerance for dirt and were pretty satisfied with the quality of the rooms. We didn’t have to deal with hairs or stains in the bed and bathroom. We also encountered one of the most mirrored bathrooms we’ve ever seen at this hotel. The living area was large and cozy, with a clear city view which made the high price tag worth it.

Merrion Row Hotel and Public House
7
This is one of the most underrated four-star hotels near Broadway New York City, especially when travelling on a budget. Merrion Row Hotel and Public House is centrally located on 45th Street, close enough to the Broadway theaters but far enough from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. We discovered this hidden gym with the help of a local expert while attending a show on Broadway and enjoyed the minimalistic but satisfying environment in the hotel.
We were welcomed by the owner and manager on arrival and immediately given complimentary drinks and snacks. They then ushered us to our respective adjacent rooms, a provision offered at the front desk despite our short notice request. Staff were friendly and generous and nothing seemed too much to ask.
Their rooms were also pretty spacious for a small Manhattan hotel. The blue, white, and brown themes are maintained in the rooms which were clean and fresh. Our double queen beds and sofa were soft and comfortable to sleep in, with ambient lighting helping us get a good night’s rest. Moreover, the restaurant offered room service with delicious continental dishes.

The Knickerbocker
6
The Knickerbocker is one of the best places to stay near Broadway NYC for the best view of the Manhattan skyline. It is conveniently located at the corner of 42nd and Broadway, putting most theaters within walking distance from the entrance. While the legendary meals at Charlie Palmers’ are irresistible, our biggest attraction was the 360-degree view of Manhattan. St. Cloud’s rooftop bar, with its handcrafted cocktails, attracts a sizeable crowd in the evenings, as we discovered during our last visit, so it is wise to reserve early.
We booked a short stay at a suite here and got a true five-star experience. The living area had a large sofa and TV as well as full-length windows. Our room’s mate white and brown deco, complimented by customizable lighting and matching curtains created an overall calm environment in the suite. We also had a clean and spacious bathroom with extra bathrobes and towels.
Despite being right above the metro station, the hotel is quiet and feels like a whole different world from the hustle and bustle below. Hitting the gym at the fitness center was the best part of the mornings here as we had an entire section to ourselves with a clear view of the sun rising over Manhattan. We also had a fulfilling American breakfast with Waffles, bacon, and eggs at Charlie Palmers.

The Muse New York
5
The Muse New York is located in Little Brazil, a short walk from Broadway theaters. We had to reserve over a month in advance because this is one of the most coveted hotels in town. Our group was switched to a King Suite with no balcony, unlike our booking which was a little disappointing, but everything else was as advertised. Despite the hotel’s prime location and rooms being overbooked, the lobby wasn’t crowded, making this one of the quietest cheap hotels near Times Square.
Our suite on the eighth floor had an oversized bed with lots of space to stretch around the living area. We also had lots of natural light, although the view of the city was blocked by buildings. Our original suite, higher up in the building and with a balcony had a city view but we missed it.
The Muse is still one of the funkiest hotels in Manhattan, featuring one of the most Instagramable lobbies. Its glossy grey interior comes to life under the lights making the suite more vibrant. Our bed, which had a cute headboard was also large and comfortable. There was no breakfast at the hotel but there are nice restaurants on the sixth avenue where we got nice meals on the cheap.

Tempo By Hilton New York Times Square

Tempo By Hilton New York Times Square is one of Hilton’s latest additions to their collection of Luxury hotels in Manhattan. It is a modern hotel designed to serve the modern eager traveler, featuring some of the most visual decos in the city and rooms. We booked a room here out of curiosity and were impressed by the level of detail put into the design and deco to suit even the most sensitive of guests. Furthermore, the hotel is right in the center of Broadway, a short distance from Broadway theater, so guests can’t miss a premiere there.
While the lobby and the corridors have a solid dark theme, the rooms are vibrant with lots of lighting options and glass fittings. We loved the detail in the facilities including well-lit mirrors, a wide sink with enough room for two, and a broad rain shower. With the premium quality deco, vibrant lights, and full-length glass windows, the urge to take pictures of the moment in the room was just irresistible.
Although the room was a bit pricey, the size and the solid fittings match the price tag. Our booking included breakfast, one of those sensational meals you can’t have enough of. We also enjoyed the view of the city from the hotel’s modern fitness center.

Sanctuary Hotel New York

The popular Barrymore Theater is just one of the many 47th Street theaters within walking distance of Sanctuary Hotel New York. Its convenient location makes it a popular choice for tourists and theatergoers, so getting a room can be hard. We booked a room here a while back and got an early check-in with no issues when our flight arrived early. The staff also helped us with our luggage, plus extra toiletries.
The lobby had plenty of table space, although our room, a Cozy Queen, which was modestly priced was quite small. However, for such prime real estate, we weren’t disappointed since we still had enough room for a comfortable stay. The glass bathroom had a heated rain shower and bathtub combination and was big enough for two.
We didn’t have any view of the city because of the frosted window, but the king rooms, higher up in the building have a great view. The best thing about this hotel was the Haven rooftop bar and restaurant as well as the Sushi bar which had great food and a nice space to relax. Breakfast served at this hotel was packed, but it was good enough for us.

Millennium Hotel Broadway Times Square
2
Popularly known as Millenium Times Square, this is one of the most popular hotels with Broadway theatergoers. Here, we got one of the most spacious rooms we’ve ever had in a mid-range hotel that close to Times Square which was a huge plus as we checked in as a group. The staff was helpful and friendly as they arranged for us to have adjacent rooms so we could stay close to each other. We were even given a sofa bed to accommodate more people, although the double beds were still big enough for two. The bathroom was also clean and spacious enough for two, plus they had extra towels and pillows so everyone was comfortable.
An unhindered view of midtown Manhattan was the best thing about the room because we didn’t expect much at that price. The room had a full-length glass window that made it feel like a patio because of the natural light and clear view. Other members of our group were even upgraded to a one-bedroom suite with a clear view of the Manhattan skyline.
This hotel is not just close to the theaters, the staff helped us book tickets for multiple shows on Broadway. The best theaters on Broadway including Madame Tussauds, The Regal, Hudson, and The Majestic are just a couple of steps from the hotel so we never missed a live show during our stay.

New York Marriott Marquis

Best location: Located right next to the Marquis movie theater, the New York Marriott Marquis is one of the best places to stay near Broadway NYC when looking for a five-star experience. AMC’s Time Square, Regal, and The Lyric theaters are all within a five-minute walking distance of the hotel. We always enjoy staying here whenever we can get a good deal on any of the coveted rooms on the top floors of this 45-story hotel. We got a large double room with a sofa bed on New Year’s Eve and a clear view of the fireworks even without leaving the hotel.
The hotel’s visual art and bright deco make for some of the best Instagramable locations near Times Square. It also has one of the best views of Times Square and the Midtown Manhattan skyline. Our favorite part is their modern fitness center where you get to hit the gym with the whole of NYC running below you. It also serves continental breakfasts made by some of the most popular chefs in the city. There are two restaurants to choose from, both of which offer room service.
There is live entertainment in the lobby every night, with two bars including The Broadway Lounge making some of NYC’s best cocktails. Unfortunately, the rooms on the bottom floors are noisy because of the activity in the street and the lobby. The glass elevator to the top floors can also be scary to guests who are afraid of heights. However, their great service and prime location make this our overall best accommodation for visiting Broadway theaters.
