Junipine Resort

We begin with the Junipine Resort, which was like staying elevated summer camp in the heart of the Coconino Forest. We were less than a five-minute drive to Slide Rock State Park, making this resort the ideal stay to explore Sedona’s amazing outdoors.
Since we’re nature lovers, we wanted to immerse ourselves in nature, and this secluded creekside property was perfect. We had the choice of a bunch of “creek homes,” which were hidden in a lush forest setting. What’s more, these cabin-like constructions came with all modern touches that we needed for a comfortable stay. Think wood-burning fireplaces for when it was cold and fully equipped kitchens to whip up meals on the fly. However, the best touch was the private hot tubs that some suites had on their redwood decks, including our digs.
Just because the resort was all about being one with nature didn’t mean that it didn’t have amenities. Free firewood would be delivered to our cabins every day, and there was even a DVD lending library. The standout was “The Table” at Junipine restaurant, which boasted a delicious seasonal menu.

Orchards Inn

We come to Sedona’s city limits next, specifically to the lovely Orchards Inn, which was a 10-minute drive to Slide Rock. One of Downtown Sedona’s best hotels, this centrally located hotel sat right off the highway. At the same time, since the surroundings were laidback, there was quiet and calm all around, with only the chirping of birds heard in the background.
We loved the lavish digs here, as they came with panoramic oversized furnished terraces with sweeping views of the red rock canyon. What’s more, there was everything we could possibly ask for in terms of amenities and comfort, including a romantic beehive fireplace. Our Premium Room fireplace, and a patio with alfresco furnishings and the most incredible views of the red rocks. If that wasn’t enough, our luxurious ensuite bathroom had a hot tub. That’s why it’s also one of the best Sedona hotels with private hot tubs.
You might want to stay in your room indefinitely, what with the staff even organizing breakfast or Mexican meals to be delivered to your doorstep more than gladly. However, we did step out of our rooms to enjoy a swim in the outdoor pool. There was nothing better than cooling off with views of Sedona’s jaw-dropping landscape. Did we mention that happy hours began right around the time we’d come back from our day’s explorations? Yep.

Whispering Creek Bed & Breakfast

One of the best boutique hotels in Sedona Arizona is the Whispering Creek Bed & Breakfast, which had the perfect B&B-boutique-hotel vibe we were looking for. This quaint retreat sat less than a 15-minute drive from Slide Rock, so we couldn’t ask for a better location too. Despite its central location, the place still had oodles of privacy, serenity, and tranquility. The plant-covered patio and lush gardens quickly became our favorite escapes. Every morning, the innkeeper and host would fuel us with a hearty homemade breakfast. And since it was also pet-friendly, we were able to bring along four-legged companion too, which was very rare for a B&B.
Besides that, we loved our rooms and suites here. Our cozy King Room not only had a fireplace, a smart TV, a modern bathroom, and even a private patio. However, the most important thing is that there was a whirlpool tub in our ensuite bathroom, which was one of our favorite touches in the room.

El Portal Sedona Hotel

In the heart of Tlaquepaque sits the El Portal Sedona Hotel, just 15 minutes away from Slide Rock State Park. We were just a block away from restaurants, shopping, and galleries, while the hideaway itself was shielded by rockwork, grapevine trellises, and trees. So, we were away from all the noise and traffic. We were impressed the minute we’d stepped inside this boutique hotel, which was designed in an authentic 1910 Arts-and-Crafts-style hacienda. What’s more, details like artesian tilework, period light fixtures, antique heater grills, and vintage Arts and Crafts doorknobs made every inch of the place Instagrammable.
The innkeepers treated us like family members rather than guests, with knowledgeable concierges keeping us abreast on what to see and do in Sedona. We’d love to mingle with fellow guests in the courtyard around the campfire, in the nooks for breakfast, and by the living room’s large hearth. In fact, we’d even head down to the sitting terrace and private gardens to unwind. Even though there wasn’t a restaurant., we were treated to a hearty breakfast every single day. The best bit? We even had access to two swimming pools, a spa, and even a fitness center here.
All 12 luxury rooms and suites boasted sleek color palettes and vintage furnishings like Southwest Native décor or retro cowboy paraphernalia. Our room has a mini fridge, a plush bed, an adobe kiva fireplace, bathrobes, and even a deep bath with Gilchrist & Soames bath products.

Hilton Sedona at Bell Rock

Most family-friendly. The vortex site of the climbable Bell Rock, which is shaped unmistakable like a bell, lends its name to Hilton Sedona at Bell Rock, one of the most remarkable properties around.
The four-star resort is one of the best Sedona stays for families like ours with kids, and it’s easy to see why. We had the time of our lives around the onsite restaurant’s firepit, where the -little ones would take turns to prepare classic s’mores. Of course, their favorite was the year-round heated Cascades Family Pool, where they’d spend the whole day splashing in the water. When they were sleeping, we lounged at the adults-only heated lap pool with stunning views of the red rocks. Getting outside was our main motive, though, with Slide Rock being a mere 25-minute drive away and the red rocks being practically in our backyard. That’s why it’s one of the best resorts to stay in Sedona AZ.
Choose from more than 200 modern rooms and suites, all with private balconies and romantic fireplaces. Since we wanted the kids to soak in Sedona’s ambiance, we got the double queen room whose patio directly faced the red rocks, offering us spectacular views indeed.

Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel & Creekside Villas

Best value-for-money. Usually, expectations aren’t so high when you hear a Best Western, especially for a leisurely, laidback, and maybe even luxurious holiday. However, the Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel & Creekside Villas blindsided us completely — in a very good way! The fact that it was a roadside hotel, and that too just 10 minutes from Slide Rock, concealed what was its most striking feature. Yep, at the back sat the most picture-perfect views of the red rocks, with Snoopy Rock being the focal point. We had the choice of many comfortable rooms and suites, all of which featured panoramic balconies as you can very well guess by now. Our suite even had a kitchen, and since we were a large group with kids, it was an absolute blessing. That’s why this is also one of Sedona’s best hotels with kitchens.
Besides allowing us direct access to Oak Creek, this Best Western outpost also had both outdoor and indoor pools. The outdoor one was our favorite, as it boasted amazing views of the landscape. What’s more, it also had a children’s playground, sports facilities, and even a working fire pit for the whole family to catch up in the evenings. The highlight of our stay were the games, which was fun for the entire family, including pingball, squash, and foosball.

Mii Amo

If exclusivity is what you’re looking for, then look no further than Mii Amo. It sits half-an-hour from Slide Rock, deep in the heart of Sedona’s desert region and four vortex sites. Staying here was more like a thoughtful resort experience that a traditional stay. Imagine this: all rooms had heated bathroom floors and luxury bath products, fireplaces, and luxury linen sheets. If that wasn’t enough, the Casita-style digs even had private outdoor spaces where we would curl with coffee or wine and soak in views of nature, undisturbed.
“We’d never stayed at a wellness destination, and we were very glad that we did stay at Mii Amo!”
WOW Travel
The rest of the resort is equally bespoke. For instance, it takes dining to the next level with its signature restaurant serving food tailored to our dietary preferences and needs. We’d swim in and lounge by the outdoor pool, ordering poolside snacks and drinks from the pool bar. That, along with the juice bar and in-room service, keep us satiated all the time. If that wasn’t enough, they even add personal nutrition coaching and fitness to the guests’ wellness routine.
However, what makes Mii Amo stand out is that it’s one of the best spa hotels in Sedona, Arizona. Its treatments draw inspiration from Thai, Swedish, Ayurvedic, and Native American traditions, and the place even has a Crystal Grotto sauna built around a crystal center. No wonder Travel+Leisure magazine hailed it as the ‘Top Domestic Destination Spa’ for 10 years on the trot!

Enchantment Resort

How would you like to stay in one of the hotels with the best views in the world? Yes, it’s right here in Sedona, and it’s called the Enchantment Resort, sitting half an hour from Slide Rock. In fact, it sat right across from Mii Amo, one of the best wellness destinations in all of North America, and we had access to that. The luxurious property is immersed in the universe of Sedona’s famous towering red rocks of the impressive Boynton Canyon. The pampering began right from when we arrived, with the staff providing us everything we needed for our stay. We had a huge choice when it came to the luxurious adobe accommodations, which ranged from casitas with kiva fireplaces to private pool suites with the most scenic views.
However, it was the world outside the rooms that was awaiting us to discover it. The resort has more than 100 weekly planned activities, which included meditation, guided walks, golf and tennis classes, wine tasting, and whatnot. The outdoor pool was our favorite, though, as we swam right next to the dramatic scenery. Besides two restaurants, there was also a grab-and-go market and a poolside bar. Finally, the Trail House served as a one-stop shop for renting equipment for everything from rock climbing and trail running to mountain biking. Did we mention that there was stargazing too? Yes!

Sky Ranch Lodge

Calling the Sky Ranch Lodge in Sedona a Sky-High Sanctuary is apt enough. It’s located 15 minutes away from Slide Rock, carved into the breathtaking Airport Mesa and offering sensational views of Sedona’s red rock landscape. The Sky Ranch Lodge had just 94 rooms and suites, making this as exclusive and intimate as it was a haven of tranquility. What’s more, they all boasted stone fireplaces, balconies with amazing views, kitchens where we could cook light meals and spreads, and luxe bathrooms. Our Cottage King room was a spacious retreat and was the perfect laidback abode after a long day of Sedona adventures.
What truly made our stay here was the long list of amenities. Firstly, our favorite was the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which no other place on the property could top. Despite being open seasonally, the pool with its loungers, poolside service, and sweeping views, is a favorite with many guests. Moreover, the onsite bar and restaurant served all meals and cuisines under the sun, including terrific drinks. Did you know that the property even had a renovated 1970 Airstream? Yep. A convenient complimentary shuttle rounded up the amenities here.

L’Auberge De Sedona

Most romantic. One of Sedona’s most romantic hotels is the five-star L’Auberge De Sedona. Not only did it boast jaw-dropping views of the red rocks, but its location along Oak Creek meant that the views on the other side were excellent too. We loved the choices of perfectly landscaped wooden cottages, which seemed to be suspended in the air. While some had water views of Oak Creek, others had picture-perfect views of the impressive red rocks. Since we had enjoyed the red rock views anyway, we decided to take the creekside ones. Nevertheless, they all boasted king beds, cozy fireplaces, free Wi-fi, and even outdoor showers and alfresco seating on the deck.
This interaction with the surrounding natural environment continues with the amenities here as well. For instance, we dug into Southern-European cuisine at the onsite signature restaurant, which boasted views of Oak Creek. Since we were on a romantic sojourn, we indulged in the spa programs at L’Apothecary Spa. However, since we loved the outdoors too, we even enjoyed a round of golf and rented ATVs for rugged off-road rides.

Amara Resort and Spa

Most luxurious. One of the most luxurious hotels in Sedona is the Amara Resort and Spa, which is more than just a hotel with an excellent view. For instance, the grounds offered a secluded tree-lined experience with sweeping view of the vast desert landscape. However, there’s more to the resort than the views, as we mentioned earlier. We had a great choice of contemporary rooms and suites, all of which boasted balconies facing Snoopy Rock. What’s more, they all boasted coffeemakers, minibars, king/queen plush beds, luxury Frette linens, flat-screen TVs, and luxurious bathrooms. What more could we ask for?
The resort is beyond its swish digs too. For instance, the signature SaltRock Southwest Kitchen served both cocktails and delicious meals. When we wanted to explore, we would borrow one of the complimentary bicycles. Or if we wanted to go farther, the resort shuttle service would take us around. In the afternoons, we’d head off to the spa and choose from its vast treatment menu to relax and unwind. But perhaps the resort’s most striking feature was s picture-perfect infinity pool, right on the banks of Oak Creek and offering wonderful red rock views.

Sedona is smaller than most popular outdoor American cities, but it’s quite spread out. So, even though it’s smaller in size than, let’s say even Phoenix, we needed to decide which neighborhood to stay in. Since Slide Rock lay just 20 minutes north of the city, it was easy for us to decide as well.
