We love visiting Moab every time we have the chance, and it’s a town that you should visit at least once (or twice). When we first visited Moab, we were mesmerized by its natural beauty, especially the dramatic sunsets. And with its abundant sunshine and proximity to multiple national parks, it’s also an excellent place for camping. However, as much as we love camping, we can’t deny that sometimes it can be a hassle too, especially regarding the convenience. That’s where HTR Moab Lodge & Cottages come in.
HTR Moab makes everything way more comfortable, including your camping experience. This unique lodging establishment caters to various camping styles, blending the thrill of the outdoors with the convenience of modern amenities. We’re talking about spotless shared bathrooms, a fully-equipped communal kitchen, and cozy tents with modern amenities. Intrigued? Keep scrolling and read more about our experience!

Only minutes away from downtown
First of all, let’s talk about HTR Moab‘s fantastic location. Throughout our stay, we were given the convenience to explore Moab easily. We were only a short drive from downtown Moab, which meant easy access to top restaurants and shops. We’re talking about The Broken Oar and Trailhead Public House and Eatery!
However, the real win was its proximity to multiple national parks, including the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. It felt like the ideal base camp for our desert adventures. You can return to one of HTR Moab’s many accommodations when all is said and done. You can pick something that suits your style and budget, from rustic rooms to luxury cottages.

Camping in style
To make sure we could have the best of both worlds, we split our team into two and booked two types of accommodations. One of them was HTR Moab‘s newest Safari Tent. It allowed us to trade our usual tent poles with something a little fancier. No more air mattresses! Yes, the tent wasn’t massive, but we were happy to sleep on a comfy queen-sized bed with bedside tables and lamps for that cozy cabin feel.
Thanks to the luggage rack, unpacking was a breeze, and the table tray came in handy for late-night stargazing snacks. Plus, the in-tent fan kept us cool during the day, and the motion-censored lights under the bed were a nice touch at night. We also appreciated the addition of the private deck, which was our favorite spot to sip our coffee and plan our day’s adventures. While our tent offered a comfortable retreat, the modern bathhouse nearby ensured we had clean and convenient facilities.
However, the true gem of HTR Moab is the community kitchen. It was a great place to whip up meals, meet fellow adventurers, and swap stories about our Moab explorations.
“Our camping experience with the Safari Tent was one of one. It was truly nothing like what we’ve done before.”

Numerous tent sites
Speaking of camping, HTR Moab boasts many tent sites. They’re the perfect place for those who want to camp in their own tent. These sites are situated close to the community kitchen and patio, so it’s super convenient to grab a bite or hang out under the stars with other travelers.
We checked the sites out, and they were all well-maintained. Specifically for tent camping, each spot comes with a picnic table and enough space to comfortably fit either two small tents or one big tent. For your convenience, there are also 20-amp electric hook-ups to keep your gear charged. On top of that, the sites are close enough to walk to everything you need at the campground, and the surrounding area offers some enjoyable strolls, too.

Modern alternatives
Aside from the Safari Tent, our group also tried spending the night at the one-bedroom cottage at HTR Moab. Aside from the apparent differences to the Safari Tent (the much bigger space, cozier bedroom, and modern amenities), this place is perfect for those traveling with pets. Yep, all accommodations aside from the Safari Tents are pet-friendly. So, don’t hesitate to bring your furry travel companion along.
The variety of cottage sizes is impressive. You can choose from one or two-bedroom options, depending on your needs. For larger groups, there’s even a heated two-bedroom lodge residence that sleeps six comfortably. And for huge groups, a bunk room can fit up to nine people with triple bunks! That’s a lot of space for an adventurous Moab trip.

Amenities you’ll love
Though HTR Moab isn’t a five-star hotel, it doesn’t mean it completely ignores the extra amenities. What it offers is really in line with its concept. For one, there are two EV charging stations for those traveling with electric vehicles. Pretty thoughtful, isn’t it? In addition to that, it also covers the basics like sheets, pillows, and towels. They’re all provided in the rental.
Since we were on a road trip, we loved having a designated parking space for our trailer included in our reservation. Also, as we said earlier, HTR Moab Lodge & Cottages features a community kitchen. For us, it was like our playground. There was everything we could need to make a delicious meal, from pots and pans to measuring cups and a blender. Is there cooking oil? Yes! Plus, we could enjoy our yummy food in the outdoor dining area.
