What Is a Kosher Hotel?
Kosher is a set of dietary laws practiced by Jewish people. These laws specify which foods are considered acceptable to eat and how those foods must be prepared. The term “kosher” comes from the Hebrew word “kasher”, which means “fit” or “proper”.
So, a kosher hotel is a hotel that strictly adheres to Jewish dietary laws. This includes avoiding pork, shellfish, and certain combinations of meat and dairy. Examples of kosher dishes you might find at a hotel include omelets, cereals, salads, sandwiches, and even vegan dishes.
Aside from that, Kosher hotels often have separate kitchens for preparing meat and dairy dishes to prevent contamination. Many kosher hotels are also certified by recognized kosher certification organizations to ensure compliance with Jewish dietary laws.
Sleepy Hollow Hotel

Best Amenities. The Sleepy Hollow Hotel is located in Tarrytown, a northern suburb of New York City. When we first arrived, we were immediately captivated by the hotel’s traditional façade and elegant style. Not to mention, it’s located in a resort-like setting, making our stay feel even more exclusive.
We were also impressed by the inclusivity of this hotel and its commitment to accommodating Jewish travelers’ dietary needs. Aside from the classic American breakfast, the on-site restaurant also offers a variety of delicious kosher options, from the a la carte breakfast to the special Shabbos package. The all-inclusive Shabbos package is especially convenient, providing guests with all the meals they need, as well as access to separate swim hours for men and women and a beautiful property enclosed by an eiruv.
Beyond the kosher amenities, the hotel offered a host of other features that made our stay enjoyable. The pool, sauna, and fitness center were perfect for relaxing and staying active. The staff was friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with our needs. We also adored our Standard King Room. It was big enough for the two of us and had everything we needed, plus a beautiful view of the garden.

Best Luxury. This list won’t be complete without The Avenue Plaza. One of the major things that drew us in was its prime location in the middle of Jewish communal life, Borough Park. The neighborhood is a bustling hub of activity, with synagogues, Jewish stores, and the vibrant energy of the community at every turn.
Speaking of which, you’ll appreciate the food here. The selection of kosher foods was impressive, and everything was fresh and delicious. We particularly enjoyed the well-done hashbrowns, eggs cooked to perfection, and variety of cheeses. The dining area itself was more modern than we expected, creating a pleasant atmosphere to start the day. Also, have we mentioned that the kosher breakfast is free?
Now, The Avenue Plaza offers a wide range of accommodations. Since we wanted something a little fancy, we went with the Luxury Room. The spacious layout, elegant decor, and comfortable amenities made us feel right at home. The two full-size beds were incredibly comfortable, and the open balcony gave us a lovely view of the bustling city below. The room was also equipped with a kitchenette, so we could cook whatever we wanted.
“Inclusive, luxurious, and beautiful, The Avenue Plaza sure is one of the top hotels in Borough Park.”
