Franklin Guesthouse
11
Best boutique hotel. We begin with the cozy boutique hotel that is the Franklin Guesthouse, located on the eponymous street in Greenpoint. The hotel certainly lived up to its Brooklyn zip code by delivering on the hip and cool factor. Think eccentric yet swish decor, woodwork, and custom artwork. What’s more, the rooms felt like Brooklyn studios and apartments we’d always wanted to own, complete with mid-century modern furnishings and artful knick-knacks everywhere. No matter which room you booked, they all were loft-like and luxurious; think comfy beds, vibrant furnishings, and high ceilings. Our Deluxe Loft Suite went all out, especially its stunning bathroom that boasted wall-to-wall stonework.
While the ultra-attentive hotel staff stole our hearts, we were no less impressed with the facilities, which included a free car service around and even a complimentary upgrade or two. Moreover, there was even a steam shower, sauna, and a small fitness center on the property. Finally, the onsite restaurant Madre, despite not offering breakfast, did offer excellent fusion cuisine.

Hoxton Williamsburg

The Hoxton chain is a favorite with us, and its Williamsburg outpost was the first of its kind on this side of the pond, so we knew we were in for a special time. The design-led vibe at the Hoxton Williamsburg was worth the experience, especially when it was paired with stunning views of the Manhattan or the Brooklyn skyline. Even the rooms were lavish, with plush beds, gold-accented furnishings, and luxurious bathrooms with complimentary Blank bath products.
That being said, it was the rest of the hotel that had us drooling. Case in point: the quirky retro lobby was perfect for mingling with fellow guests. Everywhere we saw, we saw an Instagrammable spot with ’70s-style chandeliers hung from the lofty ceiling, bookshelves displaying hefty tomes on contemporary art, and locally-sourced vintage furnishings. What’s more, we had the chouce of three onsite restaurants — two seasonal and one year-round favorite. Our favorite is the rooftop bar Laser Wolf, where we enjoyed delectable Israeli cuisine with lots of lush greenery, inventive cocktails, and stellar skyline views.

Wythe Hotel

Unique to Brooklyn. The Wythe Hotel is Williamsburg’s industrial-chic beauty, sitting in a former industrial structure that was given a hipster makeover. You can see remnants of its former life even today, with lots of reclaimed wood, concrete floors, factory windows, and exposed-brick walls. The onsite restaurant, Le Crocodile, was a delight for us foodies as we dug into the bold brasserie fare. However, our favorite was the sixth floor Bar Blondeau, where we enjoyed cocktails, wines, and French plates, complete with sweeping views of Manhattan.
We were impressed by the beauty and design of the rooms, which boasted heated concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and high ceilings. What made our stay all the more comfortable was the simple but beautifully made furnishings, which went with the minimalistic vibe of the rooms. Ours even had sweeping views of the East River and Manhattan, but they all have roomy bathrooms with Davines bath products. Are you looking to indulge? Two of the four loft suites even have their own private roof decks. That’s why it’s one of the best hotels in Brooklyn, NYC.

Ace Hotel Brooklyn

We wanted to stay in a hotel that captured the very essence of Brooklyn, but with a whole lot of comfort. Behold the Ace Hotel Brooklyn, located in the trendy Boerum Hill, which was perfect for exploring the best food spots, boutiques, and galleries in the borough.
The vibe was evident from the minute we stepped into the lobby; it’s public workspaces galore. Think a moody bar area with cozy seating, a plat-filled garden, a long library-style table, and lots of chic-looking locals and guests. What’s more, there are many outlets, the Wi-Fi is free, and lobby happy hour promptly begins at 5 pm – now that’s the kind of timeliness we appreciate! The hotel boasted an “Artist in Residence” program, where they invite an artist to transform one of their rooms into an installation. We loved digging into the delicious seasonal fare at “As You Are,” and there was even a pastry and coffee bar on the property. Yum!
Besides these niche amenities, the Ace also offered us a choice of cozy rooms with local art, pops of color (a deep green, in this case), vintage furnishings, eco-friendly bath products, and, get this, a smeg fridge. Plus, we loved the remnants of the architecture of the industrial building, like warehouse windows and exposed concrete.

The William Vale

Most romantic. Its distinctive white crisscross exterior can be seen all the way from Lower Manhattan, but The William Vale is impressive even up close. Sitting in the heart of Brooklyn’s chic Williamsburg, it’s one of the best luxury hotels in New York City, and for a good reason. Every last one of its 183 guest rooms boasted balconies, most with views overlooking the East River and Manhattan’s sparkling skyline. We loved the airy, light decor, with hardwood floors, sleek bathrooms, curated coffee table books from Phaidon, fully-stocked minibars, and Lavazza coffee machines. Since we wanted to splurge, we chose the hedonistic Vale Garden Residence, a two-bedroom duplex loft with a private patio and an outdoor Jacuzzi. Sigh.
“With splendid views, some of the most indulgent mod-cons, and great service, the William Vale was every bit as romantic and luxurious as we’d hoped.”
WOW Travel
However, it was the amenities here that swept us off our feet. For instance, the 60-ft-long outdoor pool on the rooftop is not just Brooklyn but even NYC’s longest. The elevated lushly landscaped 15,000-sq-ft huge public park on the rooftop was mind-blowing. It’s where we’d unwind after a long day, sipping cocktails on the lounge chairs. Finally, it’s home to two restaurants from famed chef Andrew Carmellini, the rooftop bar Westlight and the Southern Italian cuisine-serving Leuca.

Best views. Few places are as classically NYC as the under-Brooklyn-Bridge location of 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, one of the best NYC hotels with views. This 10-storied eco-luxury stay offered some of the best views in the city, including from the retreat-worthy rooms and suites. They were all outfitted with reclaimed materials (think LED lighting, rattan furnishings), native greenery, and slick mod-cons. The highlight, though, was the floor-to-ceiling windows with gorgeous sweeping waterfront views. Since we wanted frame-worthy shots of the Brooklyn Bridge, we booked the Bridge King room (optionally, there’s also the Bridge Suite). The other rooms, like the Liberty Rooms and Suites, offered superb views of the Statue of Liberty.
Despite the digs being so amazing, we did step out to explore the spectacular 4,000-sq-ft rooftop, which boasted an infinity pool with loungers and a bar serving killer cocktails. In fact, it’s one of the best hotels in New York City with rooftop bars. The cherry on top was the panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline. Did we mention that it was also home to one of the borough’s prettiest farm-to-table restaurants, The Osprey?

The rooms surprisingly are big and spacious, with the artwork design in its walls will make you feel comfortable. The apartment-style room in this hotel facilitated with a fully equipped kitchen. Certain rooms have a terrace with the view of Midtown Manhattan. Plus, there is coffee/tea maker in all rooms. This hotel is located near to many restaurants and bars, so you don’t have to worry. Besides, there are many subway stations nearby such as Long Island City Station and 21st Street Station.

Finally, we present to you what is the most luxurious hotel in Brooklyn, the Arlo Williamsburg. Located in the eponymous Williamsburg neighborhood, the reimagined and iconic hotel sits in the heart of Brooklyn’s buzziest neighborhood. However, the hotel itself is the ultimate place for all things fun. For one, it hosts a number of fabulous events, including rooftop yoga and poolside DJ sets, complete with unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline. The pop of color around every corner was one for the ‘Gram, while the always-ready-to-assist Arlo staff topped off what was a memorable experience.
We were blown away from the minute we stepped inside the swanky, industrial-chic entrance, complete with a spiral staircase and high ceilings. Right there sits the trendy Sungold cocktail bar, where we sipped on cocktails and people-watched to our hearts content. There was also the water-tower-turned-rooftop bar, as well as the 40-foot swimming pool, which offered some of the best 360-degree views we’ve seen in our lives.
The rooms and suites here boasted 10-foot window with the views of river and Manhattan, and ours even had a private balcony for us to unwind in. Rich tiling, authentic reclaimed materials, private minibars, and colorful backsplashes in the luxe bathrooms — what more could we ask for?
