However, based on our previous experiences, hotels can vanish faster than beads at a Krewe parade. If you haven’t yet secured your accommodation for the revelry, now is the time to plan your trip. Below, you’ll find some of our favorite Mardi Gras parade route hotels. While your time will undoubtedly be spent enjoying the parades and celebrations, you’ll still need a comfortable place to recharge your batteries. Best Western Plus French Quarter Courtyard Hotel

Kicking off this list is the Best Western Plus French Quarter Courtyard Hotel, one of the most recommended hotels on Mardi Gras parade route. Located right on the edge of the French Quarter, the hotel’s location was a major plus for us. It’s housed in a charming brick building, giving it a real New Orleans feel. We found it incredibly convenient – just a short 5-minute walk to Bourbon Street and about 9 minutes to the St. Louis Cathedral.
One of the highlights for us was the courtyard. During our stay, the Carnival crowds were in full swing, and the courtyard provided a perfect escape. It was a fantastic place to duck in for some peace and quiet. Speaking of peace, we also loved our Double Room. It was comfortable and provided a nice respite after long days exploring the city. The cherry on top? The courtyard views!
During our stay, we also took advantage of the complimentary continental breakfast. The dining area, though snug, was charming with its stained-glass windows. The hotel also has a jazz-themed cocktail bar. For those wanting to keep up with their fitness routine, there’s a gym on-site, and there’s also a business center for anyone needing to take care of work. Our favorite activity, though, was taking a dip in the outdoor pool.

Hotel Villa Convento

Best Budget. Our stay at Hotel Villa Convento was truly special. We had a blast without spending too much. Not to mention, the fact that we were staying in a Creole townhouse dating back to the 1830s gave us a real sense of connection to New Orleans’ rich past.
The hotel’s location is absolutely perfect – close to everything we wanted to see and do, including fantastic restaurants and, of course, the vibrant energy of Bourbon Street, yet tucked away just enough to offer a peaceful retreat.
We booked a Queen Room with a balcony, and it was worth every penny. Our balcony overlooked romantic Ursulines Street, and the views were simply breathtaking. We spent many happy hours watching horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping by and catching glimpses of the tops of ships as they made their way down the river. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast of croissants and coffee in the morning or to unwind in the evening with a bottle of bubbly.

Virgin Hotels New Orleans

Best Atmosphere. Like many other Mardi Gras parade route hotels, the Virgin Hotels New Orleans also has a great location. Being just two blocks from the St. Charles Avenue parade routes means you can catch all the Mardi Gras action. You can easily walk over to see the Krewes of Bacchus, Endymion, Morpheus, and Muses roll by. But the best part is being able to retreat from the crowds back to the hotel whenever you need a break.
For us, another thing that stood out was the vibrant atmosphere. The hotel has a full entertainment program, with everything from DJ sets and dance parties to stand-up comedy and themed quiz nights. The hotel’s amenities were also top-notch. We loved the trendy restaurant and the stylish coffee shop. The rooftop pool with its poolside bar was a real highlight, offering stunning city views and a great spot to soak up the sun.
We stayed in the Rooftop Chamber King Room with city views, and we were not disappointed. The room was spacious and comfortable, with all the essentials: air conditioning (a must in New Orleans), a wardrobe, and everything else you can think of. It was a great place to relax and recharge after a day full of exploration.

The Barnett

After staying at The Barnett, we have to say, it lived up to the hype. Its location in the Warehouse District was perfect for us. We were just a short walk from the action of Bourbon Street and Jackson Square (roughly a mile). What really stands out, though, is the hotel’s proximity to the St. Charles Avenue parade routes. Being just a block away means travelers have incredibly easy access to some of the biggest Mardi Gras parades – Orpheus, Bacchus, Endymion, and Muses, to name a few.
For our stay, we booked the Deluxe King Room. It had that hip, boutique feel. We especially loved the huge windows, which let plenty of light in. We didn’t opt for a suite, but if the idea of a living room with a turntable and acoustic guitar is appealing to you, feel free to stay there!
Aside from that, we were also spoiled for choice when it came to food. With five chic restaurants and bars on-site, we never had to venture far for a good meal or a cocktail. The rooftop pool was also a highlight for us – a perfect spot to relax and soak up the city views. We also made use of the 24-hour gym to try and counteract some of the delicious food. Hotel Saint Vincent

To tell you the truth, one of the main reasons why we were interested in Hotel Saint Vincent was its history as an infant asylum dating back to 1861. It added an intriguing layer to our stay! However, it was the location and amenities that made our stay memorable. Being just two blocks from the St. Charles Avenue parade routes makes it especially appealing, and you can imagine how vibrant the area would be during Mardi Gras.
Our room was surprisingly super aesthetic and well-appointed. We had all the standard amenities we needed, but the custom wallpaper, designer toiletries, and Italian linens really elevated the experience. We were particularly charmed by the unique architectural features, such as the sloped ceilings. While we didn’t have a balcony in our room, you can get the room with one if you want.
The dining options at the hotel were fantastic as well. We enjoyed the all-day coastal Italian restaurant and were intrigued by the French/Vietnamese-style cafe and bakery. The lobby lounge was a great place to relax, and the poolside bar in the inner courtyard provided a perfect spot to unwind. The fact that there’s also meeting and event space, plus parking, makes it an ideal venue for various occasions.

Best Dining. Up next is The Royal Sonesta New Orleans. Its location couldn’t be more central – right on Bourbon Street, putting us in the heart of all the action. We were literally steps away from the Mardi Gras parade route (though not during Mardi Gras itself), street performers, and the city’s famous nightlife.
Our standard room was lovely. While the furnishings were fairly basic, they were definitely tasteful and comfortable. After a long night out exploring the city, that pillow-top mattress provided a truly blissful sleep. We literally slept like logs! If it’s your kind of thing, we highly recommend requesting a room with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street. The view is simply incredible. Think of a constant stream of fascinating activity that’s more entertaining than anything you’d find on TV.
The hotel also offered a great range of amenities. We enjoyed a refreshing dip and a drink at the Oasis Pool Bar, which was a welcome escape from the New Orleans heat. For sports fans and whiskey aficionados, Le Booze boasts an extensive whiskey list and plenty of screens. Dining options were plentiful too. We sampled some delicious oysters at Desire Oyster Bar and grabbed a quick coffee and pastry at PJ’s Coffee Café. We also managed to check out The Jazz Playhouse, the hotel’s jazz club and enjoyed some fantastic live music.

You can’t talk about the best hotels on Mardi Gras parade route without mentioning the Pontchartrain Hotel St. Charles Avenue. Our stay was nothing short of magical, especially given its prime location right on the Uptown parade route. Not to mention, knowing that legends like Frank Sinatra and Truman Capote had walked these halls since the 1940s added a certain charm, a sense of history that permeated the entire experience.
We booked a Deluxe King Suite, and it was the perfect one for us. The suite was thoughtfully designed, featuring a separate bedroom with a cozy reading nook, which was ideal for unwinding. The living room provided us with ample space with a comfortable sofa, a convenient desk, and a well-appointed seating area. It really felt like a home away from home.
However, it was the public spaces that truly stole the show. The hotel buzzed with energy, attracting both locals and fellow travelers. The atmosphere was infectious, particularly with Mardi Gras in full swing. The food and beverage options within the hotel were also fantastic. We appreciated the convenience of being able to stock up on to-go cocktails and food from Bayou Bar and Silver Whistle Café before heading out to secure our parade-viewing spot. Best of all, Bayou Bar even opens early on parade days!

Kimpton Hotel Fontenot

There’s no way we could leave the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot out of this list. As a prime location for Mardi Gras, it’s hard to imagine a better spot. Being right on the parade route and a stone’s throw from the heart of the French Quarter’s festivities, it’s undoubtedly the best place to stay if you’re looking to immerse yourself in the revelry. Situated right on the corner of Poydras and Tchoupitoulas, we were within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see, including the French Quarter, the Mississippi River, and all the downtown attractions.
Just as exceptional was our room, which was super minimalist and chic. We loved the clean lines and bright whites, which created a sleek, modern aesthetic. The dark grey chaise lounge at the end of the bed was a stylish touch, and the high-end Frette linens were luxurious. We also loved how clean the bathroom was, which came with Atelier Bloem bath products.
The food and drink options were also exceptional. The Peacock Room is truly the hotel’s highlight. The atmosphere there felt exclusive, especially with the live acoustic jazz music. We sampled some of the local delicacies, like the duck and oyster gumbo and blue crab pimento cheese, and they were absolutely delicious. It was clear that the Peacock Room was the place to be, with a buzzing atmosphere of people enjoying cocktails and soaking in the regal surroundings.

Hotel Provincial

We recently stayed at the Hotel Provincial, one of the best Mardi Gras parade route hotels, and were very pleased with our experience. The location was excellent; it was a quick three-minute walk to the Ursulines Station streetcar stop, making it incredibly easy for us to get around the city. We also enjoyed the short walk to Jackson Square Park, which was only about six minutes away. And if you’re in the city for Mardi Gras, you’ll be thrilled to know it’s on the parade route for some marching group processions!
The hotel itself is housed in a lovely, restored building, giving it a real sense of history and charm. Our room, while not huge, was posh. We appreciated the Southern antiques and period reproduction furnishings. We didn’t have a balcony or private courtyard in our room, but we did see some that did, and they were quite inviting.
Moreover, the hotel has a nice, low-key bar with a daily happy hour, which we took advantage of a couple of times. One of the highlights for us was the outdoor spaces. The hotel boasts two outdoor pools, which are perfect for cooling off in the Louisiana heat. We especially loved the tropically landscaped courtyard with its fountain and comfortable patio furniture. Best Western Plus St. Christopher Hotel

Best Value for Money. Our stay at the Best Western Plus St. Christopher Hotel turned out to be better than we expected. We loved that we were just steps away from the historic Warehouse District and the legendary French Quarter, but could easily escape back to a slightly more tranquil setting when we needed a break. Plus, being on Magazine Street meant we could easily hop on the bus uptown – perfect for catching the parades!
The hotel’s amenities were just as great. We particularly appreciated the free hot breakfast, which gave us a great start to our mornings before heading out to explore NOLA. In addition, there’s also a business center for those who need to catch up on some work as well as laundry facilities for those on a multi-day stay.
We booked the Double Room with Two Double Beds, and we were very happy with our choice. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The standout feature for us was definitely the spa bath! It was so relaxing after a day of walking around the city. It really made our stay feel a bit more luxurious.

Best Luxury. If you don’t want to settle for less, then the Four Seasons New Orleans should be your number one choice. This 341-room hotel, opened in 2021, offers a luxurious escape with stunning views of the Mississippi River. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were captivated by the Mardi Gras–themed installation. It’s a vibrant display of handcrafted papier-mâché flowers created by local float artists. Talk about a testament to the city’s unique culture.
Our room was a haven of sophisticated comfort. As expected from a Four Seasons property, the attention to detail was impeccable. Floor-to-ceiling windows provided breathtaking views, and the stylish mid-century modern décor, complemented by white oak fixtures, created a warm atmosphere. We also loved the chic, white Carrara marble bathroom.
The culinary experiences at the Four Seasons New Orleans were a highlight of our trip. The Chandelier Bar, with its dazzling cascade of 15,000 crystals, quickly became our favorite spot for an evening drink. We also had the pleasure of dining at both Miss River and Chemin à la Mer. When it comes to pampering, you can always rely on the on-site spa as well as the heated outdoor infinity pool, which is the only one of its kind in the city.

Where to Stay Near Mardi Gras New Orleans
During Mardi Gras, the main parades and festivities happen throughout the city. However, if you’re in NOLA mainly for the celebration, you’ll want to stay in the French Quarter. This is the oldest and most famous neighborhood in New Orleans, and it’s where many of the most iconic Mardi Gras celebrations take place, particularly on Bourbon Street. Expect crowds, noise, and a party atmosphere. If you want to be in the center of it all, this is the place to be.
For a more local experience, you can consider the Marigny. This vibrant neighborhood is just downriver from the French Quarter and offers a more laid-back atmosphere. It’s known for its live music venues, art galleries, and restaurants. Things here are relatively more affordable than the French Quarter and you’ll still be close to the action.
Another area to consider is the Garden District. This elegant neighborhood is known for its beautiful mansions and oak-lined streets.
