Cobblestone Hotel & Suites – Erie
11
The Cobblestone Hotel & Suites – Erie was one of the most comfortable pet-friendly hotels we’ve stayed at. They had all the features we look for in a hotel to stay with our pets. For starters, their pet-friendly policy made it a lot more convenient for us. For only a $25 fee per pet, per night, we were in for a cozy stay with our dog. Plus, the hotel doesn’t have size restrictions, so feel free to bring your chunky cat or dog with you. Furthermore, this hotel is within proximity of Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier, and Bicentennial Tower, so we were pretty much in central Erie. For walking our dog around, we had Erie’s promenade just behind the hotel.
That said, when it comes to hospitality and services, the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites – Erie nails them. Never once did the staff make us feel unwelcome. They were amazing to us from the moment we checked in with our dog. Moreover, with the hotel having amenities such as an indoor pool, complimentary breakfast, an on-site mini-market, and a coffee shop, we couldn’t ask for more. The guest room we got was perfectly cozy. Like the rest of the hotel, our room had the same homey vibe to it. It had nice natural lighting, thanks to the big windows, and a plushy bed, among other features. Our dog got a water bowl from the nice staff, and he also had the lounge seat all to himself.

Best location. Other than being a great pet-friendly hotel, the Hampton Inn & Suites Erie Bayfront prides itself on having an ideal location. Erie Maritime Museum is practically just next door, and Bicentennial Tower is within walking distance. Lastly, the famous Presque Isle State Park’s sandy beaches are a 10-minute drive away. Our days staying here were mostly spent walking around the Bayfront with our dog, and just making sure we checked out all the nearby popular sites. Plus, there’s a bus stop across the hotel, so getting around town was a breeze for us.
Furthermore, since it’s a Hampton Hotel, we already knew what to look for: professional staff, incredible services, and pristine guest rooms. It suffices to say that we got everything we expected, and more. The pet policy for starters, was super accommodating to both cats and dogs of all sizes and breeds. Granted, there’s a pet fee, but we only had to pay a flat $75 for one dog throughout our stay. Beyond that, the staff didn’t fuss over our pet too much, other than to give her high fives and scratches.
After that, we got to look forward to staying at this modern, world-renowned hotel with our dog. The room we got was everything to our liking. It was cozy, clean, and spacious enough to have an extra furry buddy with us. In the mornings, before we went on our adventure, the hotel’s free breakfast made sure we got our energy in. Other than that, the on-site indoor pool, and fitness center, made our stay extra enjoyable, and convenient.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Erie

The TownePlace Suites by Marriott Erie while not located in central Erie, conveniently sits near a shopping center and various American restaurants. Plus, the hotel is just under ten minutes away from the airport. Beyond that, as pet parents, it was their hassle-free pet policy that caught our attention. They were one of the pet-friendly hotels in Erie, Pennsylvania that welcomed cats, so we had no worries bringing our kitty with us. We did have to pay for a pet fee, but it was a one-time $150 fee for our whole stay. Additionally, there’s a 40lbs weight policy and a max of 2 pets (cats or dogs) per room.
Other than that, the hotel offers the height of excellent hospitality. From the moment we got there, the staff warmly welcomed us and was excited to have our cat as a guest. The hotel itself was modern and clean, with conveniently, a snack bar in the lobby. After the staff smoothly helped us check-in, we were then ushered to our room. They have an all-suite room, so we were set for a cozy stay in a spacious guest room all to ourselves with amenities such as a seating area, and a fully-equipped kitchen. However for our cat, as long as she has a nice sunny spot under the window, she’s all good.
Furthermore, while enjoying our complimentary breakfast on the outdoor patio was easy enough with our cat, we did have to leave her for a bit when checking out the indoor pool and fitness center. And with the hotel allowing pets to be left inside the room in a crate, we got to enjoy the facilities worry-free.

Candlewood Suites Erie, an IHG Hotel

Conveniently located adjacent to the Millcreek Mall, the Candlewood Suites Erie, an IHG Hotel, couldn’t be more ideal. Not only that, but PetCo is literally right beside the hotel, so we never had to worry about our pet supplies while on vacation. That said, beyond its location, the hotel proves to be a fantastic pet-friendly lodging. The hotel provided us with all the necessary features that would ensure a comfortable stay. For starters, they have a pet-friendly room, green space for pets to potty, and a pet policy that allows a max of two pets (cats/dogs) up to 80 lbs per room.
That said, the hotel does gear more toward extended stays. While we still enjoyed our stay here, it was apparent that a longer stay would benefit us more financially. For example, the $75 pet fee flat rate pays for up to 6 nights stay, and $150 for longer than that. Nonetheless, it did not matter since we enjoyed our stay to the fullest. We loved that all rooms came with a full kitchen, making it extra convenient for cooking and storing/rehearing our dog’s food. Plus, the extra space was a welcome added perk.
Moreover, the hotel had tons of other facilities. So when we’re not checking out the nearby shopping center, or exploring the rest of Erie, we have to look forward to dipping in the hotel’s indoor pool, working out in the fitness center, and having BBQs at the hotel’s outdoor patio with our dog with us.

Sleep Inn Erie

Newly renovated in 2022, we were pleased to find a newer, and more modern Sleep Inn Erie. From the hotel’s interior and decor, it was apparent that everything was more sleek and brand new. Fortunately, the services and hospitality also seem to elevate alongside the hotel’s looks. Both us and our cat were given the royal treatment while we stayed here. Paired with the hotel’s no-nonsense pet policy, we were in for a cozy stay. With only a pet fee of $35 per pet, per night, we were allowed to bring a max of two pets (cats or dogs) up to 50 lbs.
It suffices to say that our check-in process was quick and smooth, thanks to the professional staff. We then were escorted to a quaint room. While it wasn’t the most spacious, it was tidy and comfy enough for us and our cat. Furthermore, while there weren’t many in terms of facilities, the hotel does have a fitness center and a business center. There’s also a green area for dog’s potty breaks. Their free breakfast was also one of the highlights of our stay. Location-wise, it was extra convenient for us that the hotel was just off the I-90. Plus, Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park is directly across from the hotel.

Red Roof Inn PLUS & Suites Erie

Best value for money. The Red Roof Inn PLUS & Suites Erie, while not the fanciest pet-friendly hotel, functions fantastically as one. We were pleasantly surprised to find the hotel to be well-maintained, clean, and sporting a modern look. However, it was their honorary four-pawed staff that cemented our love for them. While we usually get welcomed by friendly staff, this time we had an enthusiastic blonde Labrador to greet us. If that wasn’t proof enough of Red Roof’s affinity for pets, their free-of-charge pet policy is the cherry on top. On top of that, they also allow a max of two dogs or cats up to 80lbs each, per room.

Moreover, the guestroom we got was perfect. It came with wooden flooring for easier cleaning, a plush bed, a mini-fridge, and a flat TV with various streaming services. Some suite rooms even have a full kitchen. For potty breaks, the hotel provided our dog with waste bags and a green area. Lastly, there were also amenities like free coffee in the lobby and EV charging stations in the parking lot. As for the location, we were able to reach downtown Erie in under 5 minutes, with the AMTRAK Station also only a block away from the hotel.

The Fairfield Inn Erie Millcreek Mall is another newly renovated pet-friendly hotel that’s located adjacent to the mall. Like many of the pet-friendly hotels we’ve been to, this one also gave us a great experience. Both its hospitality and pet policy ensured that we and our pets have a comfortable stay. That said, since the hotel had a complete makeover, we loved that everything looked pristine and new, setting a refreshing mood to our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not only did they smoothly check us in, but they also gave our dogs some treats before handing our room keys.
Furthermore, for our room, we had a well-appointed guestroom with a crisp bedsheet, a plush bed, and amenities including a cable TV, and a mini-fridge. It was everything to our liking, and our dogs were comfortable, so we had nothing to complain about. Plus, the hotel’s pet-friendly rooms are all on the first and second floor, which made it convenient for us to take our dogs for potty. As for the pet policy as a whole, it was pretty straightforward. Two pets (dogs or cats) of any size are welcomed, for an additional fee of $100 per pet, per stay.
Our stay was as pleasant as it could be. Every day before we go out and about, we would never miss out on the hotel’s fantastic free breakfast spread. Then, when our dogs are comfortably lounging in our room, we’d have time to enjoy the indoor pool, since well-behaved pets are allowed unattended in our room.

Best hotels for feline pets. The Homewood Suites by Hilton Erie is an all-around top-notch pet-friendly hotel. As part of the Hilton Group, the hotel offers fancier and more upscale accommodations. From the lobby itself, we can already tell this isn’t like one of the usual chain/budget hotels we’ve been to. The staff are both friendly and professional. As for the hotel’s looks, everything is more elevated, from the furnishing to the sleek darker-tone color scheme.
The pet policy is very accommodating, with a flat fee of $50 for 1-4 nights and $75 for longer stays, allowing both cats and dogs of any size. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The room was spotless, with a plush bed, and overall, it was a 10/10 experience.
The hotel offers excellent facilities, including a fitness center, an on-site mini market, and an indoor pool, which we enjoyed after ensuring our cat was comfortably settled in her crate. The complimentary breakfast was a highlight every morning.
Conveniently located inside the Millcreek Mall premises, finding places to eat and shop was a breeze, and getting to the city center took only 5-10 minutes. The free breakfast was especially a nice bonus, while the indoor pool and fitness center made sure we wouldn’t miss a cardio day. Staying at the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel was a treat for us and our dogs. The hotel’s luxurious reputation assured us the price would be worth it. Located on the Bayfront, it offers stunning views of Lake Erie. The hospitality was top-notch, with staff making us feel special and warmly welcoming our dogs.
The pet policy was great: two pets up to 75 lbs for an additional $75 per stay. Our pets received food, treats, and water bowls. While dogs and cats are allowed, they can’t be left unattended in rooms. This meant taking turns to swim in the indoor pool or work out in the fitness center, but we managed. We enjoyed outdoor seating overlooking the lake, allowing us to savor our free breakfast with our pets. Dining options included a fine-dining restaurant, a coffee shop, and a lounge.
Our room was perfect, especially with a view from the pet-friendly second and fourth floors. It was spacious enough for our furry friends and had a contemporary design that felt luxurious. The hotel also offered free parking, a free airport shuttle, and an on-site gift and sundry shop. Overall, while staying here wasn’t cheap, we felt it was worth every penny.

The Courtyard by Marriott Erie Bayfront gave us the ultimate retreat by the waterfront. Located at Sassafras Pier overlooking Lake Eries Presque Isle Bay, we would wake up to the lake’s beautiful view every day. We could tell we were in for a luxurious experience when we found out the hotel has both an indoor and outdoor pool. While the indoor pool is nice when the weather’s colder, the outdoor infinity pool was the star of the show. It was extra nice that we got to swim worry-free since our pets were allowed unattended in our room as long as they were created.
That said, it was thanks to the hotel’s pet-friendly policy that we got to have such an amazing time here in the first place. The hotel welcomes two pets with a combined weight of up to 150 lbs, and surprisingly, the pet fee is only $75 per stay.
