The Dunes on the Waterfront

With direct access to Ogunquit Beach, including The Dunes on the Waterfront on this list was an easy decision. First, let’s talk about the pet policy here. During check-in, we were required to pay an additional pet fee of 35 USD per night for each of our dogs. As far as we know, until today, the lodging only welcomes dogs. That said, each unit can accommodate a maximum of two dogs. As one of the top dog friendly hotels in Ogunquit Maine, the staff members here were so kind to us, including our dogs. They weren’t afraid to touch them and give them a few belly rubs.
There are so many things to enjoy on-site. Lucky for us, our dogs weren’t the type that would bark randomly. They were quiet and well-trained, so we were allowed to leave them crated in our room for a while. That gave us enough time to take a dip in the seasonal outdoor swimming pool. Also, you don’t have to worry about pet amenities. Dog beds and blankets are available upon request, and you can also get waste bags from the front desk. By the way, did you know that The Dunes on the Waterfront is also featured on our list of the best oceanfront hotels in Ogunquit?

Ogunquit Hotel and Suites

Only a short drive away from downtown and Ogunquit Beach is the Ogunquit Hotel and Suites. While there are so many accommodation options in the town, this is one of our favorites as it offers tons of freebies. Here, parking is free, and you can start your day by enjoying the free continental breakfast. During our free time, we were also able to swim in the outdoor pool and take a dip in the hot tub. Not a swimmer? Lift some weights in the fitness center instead! And we were able to do all that while our dogs were taking a nap quietly in our room.
Yes; this hotel is pet-friendly. It welcomes dogs (sorry, cats) of all sizes for an additional fee of 35 USD per night. Since we had two dogs with us, we had to pay 70 USD every night. For us, it was worth the extra money. The staff members were knowledgeable and friendly, and we were assigned to the Queen Room with two cozy Queen beds. It was big, and we even had a bubble bath with our dogs.

The Tallwood Motel

Before we reveal more great hotels in Ogunquit, let’s take a quick look at some of the best options in its surrounding areas. Even though it’s technically outside of town, it didn’t take us more than 30 minutes to reach Ogunquit’s main attractions from here. We picked The Tallwood Motel as it’s just a few minutes away from Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge. It’s the best hiking and fishing site where you can take your dogs with you both on relaxing and challenging outdoor adventures. Put your dog’s hiking backpack on the packing list! On the other hand, Ogunquit Beach is only 6 miles away. Staying here gave us a great opportunity to explore the best of both worlds: relaxing nature and fun shore!
The Tallwood Motel offers many types of rooms to meet every guest’s preferences, especially those traveling with up to five family members, including the four-legged ones. There’s an extra pet fee of 20 USD per night, so every night we had to pay 40 USD since we had two dogs with us. However, puppies under one year old aren’t accepted, and neither are big-breed dogs. We were thrilled by our cottage. It was spacious and equipped with a kitchenette. Thanks to that, we could whip up our little ones’ favorite meal easily. Not in the mood to cook? Maine Diner is only a few minutes away on foot, and dogs are welcome.
In addition to that, the motel is surrounded by grassy areas, where your pets can relieve themselves. Even though it offers an “in the middle of nowhere” ambiance, free Wi-Fi is available. So, feel free to update your dog’s Instagram account at any time in the motel’s public areas. For more entertainment, head on to the motel’s game room where you’ll find a pool table and table tennis set.

Hampton Inn & Suites Wells-Ogunquit

Most Inclusive. Technically in Wells, the Hampton Inn & Suites Wells-Ogunquit is not so far away from Ogunquit either. One of the main reasons why we included this hotel on this list was because of its inclusivity. As you can see, most hotels in Ogunquit or its surrounding area only accept dogs. But unlike the rest, this one also accepts cats. Such a win for cat owners! That said, guests are allowed to bring up to two pets with them. The good thing is you’ll never have to worry about their size as the hotel welcomes pets of all sizes.
Of course, this hotel requires an additional pet fee. Since we stayed for two nights, we had to pay an extra fee of 75 USD. However, for those staying for more than four nights, the fee becomes 125 USD. Also, our room was super comfortable. It was bigger than we first imagined, and our dogs had fun running around exploring every corner when they first entered the room. Finally, dog beds and treats are also available upon request.

Moody Beach Camping Resort

We’re still in the Moody area, but this one offers something different. In a town filled with beach accommodation, Moody Beach Camping Resort brought us closer to the lush green world. Surrounded by trees and gardens, we were provided with more than enough space to play tag and fetch. Even though it’s technically a campground, each unit offered is equipped with modern amenities. Besides a comfy bedroom, you’ll get a seating area, complete with a cable TV. We were able to catch up to our favorite series with our furry babies cuddling next to us. Additionally, each unit also comes with a fully equipped kitchen. Not to mention the coffee machine, perfect to help you start the day.
Moody Beach is within walking distance, making it a great alternative for your dog’s afternoon walk. On-site, there’s an outdoor pool available for all guests. Or drive to the Marginal Way Walk, about two miles away from here. Also, we need to talk about the pet amenities. We were surprised by how affordable the pet fee was. All we had to pay was 10 USD for each of our pets for the entire stay. Since it’s a campsite, might as well pack your dog’s camping tent, too!

Coast Village Inn and Cottages

Back to the beach area, this time a little north of Ogunquit Beach. Even so, we’re completely parting ways with the lush greenery of Moody Beach Campground. In fact, Coast Village Inn and Cottages offer a large backyard enclosed with trees. Every dog in the world would love that spot to run around. Indoors, we found a comfy bedroom for two. There were bigger units offering larger beds, but we thought ours was big enough. But honestly, it doesn’t matter which unit you choose as you’ll always find a cozy place to call home.
Our dogs weren’t picky with their food. However, if yours loves to eat homemade meals, you should consider booking a unit with a fully equipped kitchen instead. Since we were too lazy to do that, we often ate outside. Some units here can sleep two small dogs (less than 30 lbs) with a little extra fee. For each pet, we were charged an additional fee of 25 USD per night. Please note that dogs may not be left alone in the bedroom and cats aren’t allowed on the property.

Drake’s Island Resort

Location-wise, Drake’s Island Resort may be a little further from the rest. However, here’s what we love about staying here: excellent Wi-Fi, clean and comfy room, plus hospitality for us and our pets. What else you could ask for? Yes; Ogunquit Beach is five miles away. But this can be overcome by two simple solutions. One, you can visit another beach nearby, Drakes Island Beach, which is just a mile away. Or two, drive for ten minutes to Ogunquit Beach as this resort is located right off the main highway. We did both, and we enjoyed them equally!
Besides, there are plenty of activities for us to do on-site and nearby. Each room comes with a cable TV, so we could relax after a relaxing swim at the outdoor pool. Did we mention that it’s a saltwater pool? That makes it relaxing and refreshing at the same time. Now, about the pet policy, the resort was pretty generous to us! We were able to bring two pets along with us regardless of their size. We did pay an additional pet fee every night, but it was only 10 USD. Make sure to bring your dog’s vaccination records, though, as they’re needed at check-in.

Sea Mist Resort Motel

As you can see, most pet friendly hotels in Ogunquit Maine have one thing in common: cottage-like accommodations surrounded by greeneries. Reconnecting with nature sometimes requires a small sacrifice of convenience. We thought this was what Ogunquit was all about until we stumbled upon the following two accommodations. Instead of sacrificing modern comfort for the sake of a quaint touch, these two combine the two worlds beautifully! In Sea Mist Resort Motel, for instance, each room is equipped with a climate control system. The kitchenette is complete with a small fridge and microwave, plus a coffee pot with free coffee. Wi-Fi is available anywhere within the motel area, free of charge!
Outdoors, you’ll find a picnic area with BBQ facilities. Sounds like a good recipe for a nice evening gathering with family and friends. Children will love the motel’s playground, where books, games, and DVDs are available. There are only four pet-friendly units available, but we were lucky enough to get a unit here. There’s a strict pet policy, but any well-behaved pet is welcome. Don’t forget to bring the vaccination record as it’s required during check-in. Since our dogs weren’t allowed to sleep on the bed and furniture, we also included our pet’s bed and towel in our packing list. Finally, we paid 20 USD per night for each of our pets and another 25 USD for cleaning. Also, there’s a refundable 100 USD security deposit required at check-in.

Majestic Regency Resort

Best Location. Like our previous recommendation, Majestic Regency Resort also combines Ogunquit’s quaint style and modern hotel amenities. Each room comes with cable TV, a kitchenette, and a seating area. The on-site restaurant, Regency Majestic, serves a continental breakfast. Of course, we spent each morning at the restaurant. The convenience doesn’t stop there. On-site facilities include a tennis court and basketball court, among the basics such as a swimming pool, Wi-Fi, and parking. Best of all, they’re available for free! When it’s time to explore, use the shuttle service to reach nearby attractions. Ogunquit Beach is less than a mile away. While the city center, where you’ll find the Marginal Way Walk, is just two miles from here.
Four-legged guests are welcome, as long as they don’t weigh more than 50 lbs. Our dogs were only around 40 lbs, so this wasn’t a problem for us. We also paid an additional pet fee of 15 USD for each of them every night. And if you’re wondering, one room can only accommodate two pets. While there are so many room options available, only the Single Queen and Two Double Rooms are designated for pets. We chose the former and it was actually better than we expected. It was big, clean, and equipped with all the must-have in-room amenities.

Admiral’s Inn Resort
2
Best Hotel With No Pet Fee. You have arrived at the penultimate of pet friendly hotels in Ogunquit ME. The Admiral’s Inn Resort is an awesome choice for dog owners and their four-legged buddies. Yes; we said dogs as cats aren’t allowed on the property. But aside from that, the rest of this hotel is perfect. First of all, we were super thrilled when we found out that our pets were allowed to stay with us for free. Yep; we didn’t pay a single cent for our pets throughout our stay. In addition to that, the hotel accepts all kinds of dogs regardless of their weight. All you have to do is make sure they’re well-behaved.
“With no additional pet fee and impeccable services, there’s no reason not to stay here with your pet. We truly enjoyed our stay and don’t mind returning in the near future.”
WOW Travel
Guests with furry friends are assigned to Standard Queen Rooms. Ours was immaculately clean and well-maintained. There were two big Queen beds, and they were soft and plush. Even our dogs loved to sleep with us. Better yet, there’s a special area for dogs just behind the hotel. During our stay, the staff members were also so kind and helpful. They would recommend the nearest pet-friendly beaches and restaurants.

Studio East Motel
1
Best Overall. Located just five minutes away from the center of Ogunquit makes Studio East Motel our favorite. Staying here allowed us to be right in the heart of the action. We could delve into the beauty of Ogunquit Beach’s white sand, where we would find surfers, swimmers, and fellow dog owners. Even walking around the neighborhood itself was so much fun. And if you’re interested in shows, head on to the motel’s reception where you can get tickets without queueing. Each room in Studio East Motel is clean and comfy. You’ll find a cable TV in the bedroom, plus a fridge, kettle, and a microwave in the kitchenette. Some rooms provide a terrace and outdoor seating, where you can relax with your pooch while using the motel’s free Wi-Fi. There’s no swimming pool, but a hot tub and Jacuzzi are at your disposal.
Besides these great amenities, the motel’s pet policy is the main reason why it sits at the top of our list. First of all, dogs of any size are welcome. Your chubby Saint Bernard can finally have his well-deserved vacation. Second of all, you can bring up to three dogs with you. We were shocked when we saw a family with three big dogs with them. Even better, they may be left unattended if they behave well. This was such a blessing as our dogs were well trained and we could have some much-deserved alone time. All of these were made possible with just a 15 USD extra fee per night.

Where to Stay with Your Pet in Ogunquit, Maine
The town of Ogunquit is only around 15 square miles wide. Two-thirds of that is the coastal area itself. So, choosing an area to stay only depends on your answer to this: Do you want to stay in the heart of the resort town?
If your answer is yes, don’t stray too far from the Shore Road. It’s where you’ll find dining options and attractions – among the best hotels in Ogunquit, Maine – just a few steps away from Little Beach along the Israels Head area. The Marginal Way Dog Walk is also nearby.
However, for a more secluded ambiance, choose the Ogunquit Beach area. It’s separated from the rest of the town and only connected through the Beach Street Bridge within Ogunquit. The other end of this street connects you to Berwick Road, where you’ll find the town’s dog park. That’s something your doggos will appreciate… other than treats!
Keep in mind that Ogunquit is a small town. Options for your pets’ convenience may not be abundant. That said, fret not! There are other areas just outside of Ogunquit for more options, namely Wells and Bald Head. In fact, they share the same main road with Ogunquit. It will only take you 15 minutes to get to the Ogunquit Beach from the center of both Wells and Bald Head. That’s how close they are.
Besides, being not so close to the center of the resort town, you guarantee yourself a more peaceful experience, away from the tourism hustles. That is something to consider especially if you or your dog is a light sleeper.
On an unrelated note, there are also plenty of great gay-friendly hotels in Ogunquit, so make sure to check them out!

- Visit Marginal Way Walk – Take your dog for a nice walk at the beach. Keep in mind that all dogs should be on a leash. However, note that it’s only open from October 1 to March 31.
