Philadelphia satisfies a wide variety of appetites, whether you’re craving a cheesesteak or are hungry for a hearty helping of early American history. But what also makes Philly very interesting is that it’s been ranked amongst the top 50 American dog-friendly cities by Wallethub! This is no surprise, for the City of Brotherly Love – aptly named, might we add – is a very walkable city with lots of dog parks as well as pet-friendly staying options. The best Philadelphia pet-friendly hotels ensured that we didn’t have to leave our furry companions at home.
Not only did we find lots of pet-friendly stays in Philly, but we also found that many of them didn’t even charge us for bringing Fido along with us! If all that wasn’t enough, they even pampered our furry friends with lots of extra perks ranging from room service to high-end dog beds. Check out our guide to pet-friendly Philadelphia.

Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square
11
Best hotel with a refundable fee. The French-inspired Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square is one of the most luxurious and lavish pet-friendly stays in the town. The hotel welcomes both cats and dogs (not more than 1 pet) weighing less than 30 lbs (13.6 kg) in the lower floor rooms, where they can also be left unattended if they’re crated. What’s more, the hotel also gives four-legged companions a pet room service menu, bowls, and a bed when they check in, with treats sent right up to the room. And, Sofitel provides all this for a steep, albeit refundable deposit of 300 USD. Even though there’s no green space on the property, Rittenhouse Square, with its open, pet-friendly spaces, is just a few blocks away.
The 300+ rooms and suites at this French-meets-American-style hotel are elegant and upscale, with in-room amenities including free Wi-Fi, fully stocked minibars, fresh flowers, and Lanvin bath products. Furthermore, the hotel has a long list of amenities, including two onsite restaurants, a spacious lobby, and an excellent staff.

Our best friend was treated like royalty at the Logan, which is also one of the best family hotels in Philadelphia. After all, our pup is our family, and we thought there was no place better than this hotel to stay with him during our Philly holiday. But there are a lot of other reasons why we loved this hotel for our pooch. For one, they provide the plushest pet beds in the world. What’s more, the hotel donates a portion of the 75 USD pet enhancement fee to a local animal shelter! If that wasn’t enough, they also provided our furry friend with treats and bowls, and even a dog-shaped waste bag dispenser and a downtown pet guide when we requested them! Finally, the policy allows you to bring not one but two dogs with you if you have them (sorry, no cats!).
Besides its excellent location in a cultural neighborhood, the hotel also has an impressive art collection, which we could tour using its free mobile Art Tour app. The rooms and suites are spacious and fitted with mod-cons, and this Curio hotel also has an indoor swimming pool, an amazing restaurant, a rooftop lounge, and wonderful gardens.

Most luxurious. Give your pup the thrills by riding an elevator into the sky at the Four Seasons Philadelphia. The plush hotel sits atop Philly’s tallest building, the Comcast Technology Center, and happily hosts small dogs weighing less than 25 lbs for no extra fee! What’s more, our little pooch also got cozy dog beds, water bowls, welcome notes, chew toys, and even meaty bones to happily chew on. But what bowled us over was that the hotel even has a special in-room dining menu just for doggies. So, here was our posh pooch dining on everything from Amish chicken to beef filet and salmon, along with sides like quinoa, potatoes, broccoli, and carrots. Talk about first-class pampering!
“Our pup had the time of their lives at the Four Seasons, which offered what will probably be the poshest living experience ever!”
WOW Travel
The 60th-floor lobby had us impressed right from the get-go, but we were also swept off our feet by the impeccable service and the light-filled rooms and suites. Two restaurants aside, we loved the huge indoor pool area, which happens to be one of the best hotel pools in Philadelphia.

Our furry doggie was in their element at the Element Philadelphia. Why wouldn’t they be? The hotel more than just welcomes pes with its “Love that Dog” program. As soon as we checked in, we were presented with their signature dog beds, water bowls, special food and treats, clean-up supplies, and whatnot. Although the hotel only allows one pet per room, and that too just a dog, we liked the pet-friendly policy. What’s more, we only had to pay a pet fee of 50 USD per day per pet. If that wasn’t enough, the hotel allows dogs weighing up to 40 lbs (18 kg), even if it doesn’t allow them to be left unattended in the room.
Since it’s a sister hotel to the W, we expected no less from the Element either, and that turned out to be true. It not only has a shared lounge and a restaurant, but also free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and free bikes. Finally, this four-star hotel even offers excellent suites with fully-equipped kitchens and continental breakfasts to start our day.

The Kimpton brand has many feathers in its cap, and being pet-friendly is one of them. Welcome to Kimpton Hotel Palomar at Rittenhouse, one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Philadelphia, PA. This hotel takes its four-legged guests seriously – so seriously that there’s even a Director of Pet Relations (it’s a dog, by the way)! When we checked in, the hotel offered our pooch food, treats, water bowls, and comfy bedding. But what impressed us the most is that they have no weight or size restrictions here. And since we were just two blocks from Rittenhouse Square, our pooch could scamper about in delight on the grass there. The best bit? We got free access to Wag! Premium during our stay that connected us with doggie services such as dog-sitting and walking. Heck, we even got 24/7 vet chat, waived booking fees, and 10% off all services booked.
One of the other reasons we loved staying at the Kimpton Palomar is that it has premium king rooms and suites that feature in-room jacuzzis! So, we were able to truly enjoy a laidback vacation with our pet. Wrapping up the amenities here is the American cuisine-serving restaurant, a fitness center, a 24-hour concierge, free tea and coffee throughout the day, and even a complimentary wine reception in the evening.

Hyatt Centric Center City

Since we wanted to stay in Center City, we couldn’t think of a place better than Hyatt Centric Center City to stay with our pets. This hotel allows guests to bring up to 2 dogs (sorry, no cats!) weighing up to 50 lbs individually and 75 lbs combined. What’s more, they hooked our furry companions up with in-room dog beds, doggie treats, and water bowls as well. For the same, they charge 100 USD for stays between 1 and 6 nights and 200 USD for stays between 7 and 30 nights. If you’re staying longer than a month, please get in touch with the hotel directly.
Just like other Rittenhouse-area hotels, this hotel boasts a fantastic location close to the popular doggy hotspot. But where this place gets bonus points is because it’s just around the corner from Salty Paws, the famed ice cream parlor that’s just for dogs – how cool is that!
The four-star hotel has, besides comfy rooms and suites, American breakfasts, a bar and a restaurant, a fitness center, and free Wi-Fi.

The Windsor Suites

The Windsor Suites is one of the best all-suite hotels we’ve stayed at. But more importantly, it’s one of the pet-friendliest hotels we’ve stayed at. For one, it doesn’t charge a fee to bring pets, no matter the length of your stay. What’s more, it welcomes both cats and dogs without any weight restrictions. Additionally, it allows two pets per room and even provides them with pet-friendly accessories such as food bowls and leashes. All they ask for is to keep the pets away from the restaurant, the Skyline level, and the pool. What more could we want? We loved the spacious suites at the Windsor, too, complete with beautiful views of Parkway.
Going further, we were blown away by the amenities at this all-suite hotel, which includes a 24-hour fitness center and a restaurant that serves American and Irish cuisine. Plus, we loved the Skyline Level, which has not only an outdoor terrace but also a seasonal outdoor pool and an observation lounge. The suites themselves come with fully equipped kitchens, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen cable TVs.

There’s yet another Kimpton on this list. This time, it’s the Kimpton Monaco in Old City, which, just like its sister Hotel Palomar, goes all out for the doggies. We wanted to explore the historic charm of Old City, and our dog wanted to be pampered. And there’s no better spot than Kimpton to do that, is there? So, while we checked in, our pooch relaxed in the hotel’s chic ambiance. What’s more, they were served doggie treats at check-in and water bowls in the room too. Plus, we got free access to Wag! Premium that connected us with doggie services, disposable pick-up bags, and even pet exercise areas nearby.
We and our pooch loved the rest of the hotel too. All rooms feature luxurious Atelier Bloem amenities, Frette linens, and even bathtubs in the higher rooms with personalized “Soak Session” options. A restaurant and a rooftop lounge, custom-designed bikes to explore the neighborhood, and in-room yoga mats and spa treatments round up the amenities here.

We were at the center of it all at the luxurious W, where we and our doggie were living it up, W style indeed. This pet-friendly hotel welcomes four-legged guests of all kinds for a non-refundable pet fee of 100 USD for the entire stay. Their only stipulation is that they don’t accept pets weighing more than 50 lbs (22.7 kg) and that pets should be in a carrier or on a leash in the common areas. But they even provided our pooch with plush doggie beds, bowls, and treats for the fee. And now, we’re both in the WOW suite, with my doggie who’s having the absolute time of his life!
Opened up in just 2021, the luxurious 51-storeyed W in the heart of bustling Downtown boasts an extensive art collection and both dining and cocktail venues. A highlight is the seventh-floor Wet Deck anchored by a lush green space and a heated pool that’s open throughout the year. Moreover, the superb rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, custom light fixtures, and luxe bathrooms.

Best free Downtown hotel. Since we wanted to stay with our doggo right in the heart of Philly’s downtown, we couldn’t find a pet fee-free hotel better than Aloft Philadelphia Downtown. This pet-friendly hotel welcomes 2 dogs (sorry, no cats!) weighing less than 40 lbs (18 kg) in every room for no extra fees or charges. They only asked us to not leave our pooches unattended at any time on the property, whether in the rooms or in the common areas, where they had to be leashed/crated. However, the hotel did present our dogs with the adorably titled ‘Arf package.’ Hence, our four-legged companions ended up getting not just comfy pet bedding but also treats, and food and water bowls! Woof-woof indeed.
We loved the rest of the hotel too, which sits in the 1920s-built Liberty Title building. Besides the rooms that feature free bathroom products, free Wi-Fi, and other mod-cons, the hotel also has a 24/7 grab-and-go bar, the zany W XYZ bar, and a fitness center.

Best pet program. There’s no way to talk about the best Philly pet-friendly stays without mentioning the Loews Hotel. It’s the first hotel chain in the United States to launch a pet program, “Loews Loves Pets,” way back in 2000!
This hotel treats our four-legged companions as VIPs (very important pets!), has a pet-friendly 12th floor, and welcomes both dogs and cats. The team not only presented our doggie with a welcome letter from the general manager but also gave them beds, mats, pick-up bags, and water bowls. They even gave special treats like scratch poles, catnip, and rawhide bones! If that wasn’t enough, our pooch even had a special pet room service menu. The best bit? The staff was able to arrange for dog-walking and dog-sitting services and even provided us with dog-walking route maps. The hotel’s pet policy is such – we could bring up to 2 pets per room for a one-time, non-refundable pet fee of 40 USD per stay.

Where To Stay in Philadelphia with Your Pet?
Just as there are neighborhoods that humans prefer, we looked into neighborhoods that our doggo would love. We loved Old City the most, as it’s very close to the city center, is buzzing with energy, and has tons of amenities and things to do. What’s more, there’s ample green space in the neighborhood, two dog parks, lots of pet-friendly local businesses, and the Morgan Pier with its extremely popular “Yappy Hour” – no, we aren’t making this up!
Next, there’s the Center City, which is home to Philly’s Historic District and Downtown, and some of the city’s best dog parks. It’s also home to the block-long Penn’s Landing Dog Run stretching along the Delaware riverfront, with separate sections for small and large dogs and incredible views. Finally, there’s West Philadelphia, whose aesthetic is free/budget. Besides being just a 15-minute tram ride from the Center City, the region is all about leafy sidewalks, big yards, and picturesque Victorian Houses.
Pet-Friendly Restaurants / Bars in Philadelphia
- Rouge: Philly is one of those places where you can enjoy a fine dining meal with your pup. The Rouge is an elegant spot that welcomes four-legged friends at its sidewalk tables that face Rittenhouse Square. Dig into bistro fare and enjoy cocktails as your doggies get treats and bowls of water. Did you know that the Rouge was Philly’s first restaurant to introduce sidewalk seating after the prohibition? Yes!
- White Dog Cafe: It’s not hard to guess that a restaurant with a name like this has to be pup-friendly! Welcome to the long-running University City spot of White Dog Cafe, which boasts fenced-in outdoor seating and offers water bowls to pooches.

- Schuylkill River Park Dog Run: This is among Philly’s most beloved and beautiful dog park runs and has separate areas for large and small dogs. It even has an AstroTurf-style surface that ensures that our pup’s paws are clean and safe. Plus, there was shade for hot days, drinking water, and lots of room to play fetch.
- Seger Dog Park: This might not be Philly’s largest dog park, but it’s definitely one of the best, with discrete areas for small and large dogs, shaded paved paths for walking, trash cans, and biodegradable waste bags and trash bins make it easy and a water fountain.
