Isla Grand Beach Resort
11
Best 5-star hotel. We wanted to indulge in our SPI stay, which is why we chose to stay at the Isla Grand Beach Resort. This amazing slice of beachfront heaven boasts unrivaled charm and sits right on the pristine golden sand shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico.
In fact, the beach was literally just steps away from our room, complete with daybeds under parasols, F&B service, and even a beach volleyball area. What’s more, the resort beach hotel also boasted an impressive range of amenities and facilities. The heated outdoor beach-facing pool was especially remarkable. After a day of swimming and lounging by the pool, we’d head to the spa center. Plus, we always had not one but four onsite restaurants that served not only local cuisine but also international and continental cuisines, including fabulous breakfast spreads.
In addition, we couldn’t help but gush at how amazing the rooms and suites were here. We had the choice of many rooms, ranging from entry-level doubles to king suites. For the ultimate beach experience, we booked the beach-facing suite with a private balcony, where we’d enjoy spectacular views with coffee and wine.

The Saida Hotel boasted a combination of remarkable services, exceptional facilities and amenities, and an unbeatable beachfront location. All in all, staying at this hotel made for an unforgettable holiday experience for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Tucked on the golden sands of an SPI beach, we could directly access the sun-kissed sandy beach out front while enjoying sweeping ocean views from anywhere at the hotel. What’s more, the hotel boasted a wide range of outstanding amenities, including three swimming pools and a hot tub on the pool deck. Moreover, the beachfront complex also has a snack bar, a poolside bar, and as many as four tennis courts. So, we had a lot to do and indulge in on the property. Plus, the fact that we were surrounded by landscaped walkways and lush tropical gardens made for a perfectly serene ambiance to stay by the beach.
Besides the beachfront location and amenities, the digs truly impressed us. Since Saida Hotel is an aparthotel, we love the spacious rooms and suites that come with facilities like private balconies, multiple bedrooms, living spaces, and fully equipped kitchens. We felt right at home!

We’ve always loved Courtyard by Marriott properties, and the Courtyard Hotel South Padre Island was no exception. This gorgeous South Padre Island beachfront hotel sits on the Gulf of Mexico shoreline, and the location couldn’t be more perfect.
Since the hotel sat right on the sands, we didn’t even have to walk across a wooden walkway to access the beach. All we had to do was step off the property, like the pool deck, and we’d be standing right on the soft, powdery sand. Besides the breathtaking ocean vistas, this Courtyard outpost had a ton of outstanding facilities. Our favorite was the refreshing outdoor pool, where we relaxed on the daybeds with cocktails, after a swim in the pool, of course. What’s more, the fitness center was well-equipped, as was the onsite gift shop, which stocked both SPI memorabilia and beach equipment. Rounding things up is the onsite bar and restaurant, Bar Louie, which was open for all meals, including weekend brunches.
Like other Marriott hotels, this beachfront resort’s hospitality exceeded our expectations—and then some. For one, the rooms and suites were very comfortable, with our suite boasting unobstructed ocean views right from the beachfront balcony.

La Copa Inn Beach Hotel

The La Copa Inn Beach Hotel happens to be one of the best beachfront hotels in South Padre Island, TX, for more reasons than one. First, there’s the stunning and unique beachfront location right across from the Queen Isabella Causeway.
So, what did we like about the hotel? Firstly, we had the choice of many room and suite configurations specifically designed for larger groups of friends and families. What’s more, the stylish rooms were comfortable with modern amenities, complete with private beachfront balconies that became our personal havens. Not only were the rooms and suites spacious but also they came with plush beds and luxe bathrooms. Do you happen to be traveling with a furry friend? Luckily, La Copa Inn Beach is one of South Padre Island’s top pet-friendly hotels.
Despite not breaking the bank, the hotel came with a whole lot of amenities. For one, there was the hotel’s onsite restaurant that served all meals and even had a nice outdoor seating area. When we’d unwind on the beach or by the pool, we’d be served drinks from the bar. However, our favorite was the beachside pool, which also had direct beach access. Wrapping up things were the onsite gift shop and the Starbucks, which was a godsend for the many cups of coffee we enjoyed during our stay.

We were spellbound at the Peninsula Island Resort & Spa, which was the ultimate in waterfront luxury on SPI. From the moment we arrived, the wonderful shoreline out front, combined with the captivating views from anywhere in the hotel, had us basking in this environment of tranquility.
What’s more, beach access was as easy as it got, thanks to the wooden walkway from the pool deck right down to the sands. In fact, the beach had orange daybeds and parasols for us to relax and unwind by the ocean the entire day. Back at the hotel, we had an amazing outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which was great for when we didn’t want to step out onto the sand. But that’s not all. The amenities went beyond our expectations, including the rejuvenating spa treatments and the onsite Las Olas Restaurant, complete with sweeping beach views from the wall of windows.
Besides private beach access, the condo-style guestrooms truly made our holiday ten times better. This is especially true since we had access to amenities such as separate living spaces and private fully-equipped kitchens.

Best location. We’ve always relied on Hilton’s hotels when it comes to a guaranteed excellent stay. The Hilton Garden Inn South Padre Island was no exception, and we loved every minute of our stay here, right from the fantastic facilities to impeccable service. The hotel truly has it all.
We especially loved the access to the beach. While most hotels have long wooden walkways to access the beach, this one was closer to the beach, and we’d be on the sand right the minute we stepped off the pool deck. Moreover, the pool deck was a haven of relaxation, where we’d enjoy a refreshing swim or a lounge in the hot tub, followed by lounging on the daybeds under the parasols. We’d spend long and lazy afternoons sipping cocktails from the poolside bar while the onsite restaurant served all meals, including a fantastic breakfast spread. That’s why it’s one of the best hotels for spring break on South Padre Island.
We loved the spacious and well-appointed rooms and suites, complete with comfortable beds and private balconies overlooking the beach. Moreover, a slew of mod-cons, such as luxe bathrooms, coffeemakers, flatscreen TVs, and mini-fridges, made our stay comfortable.

Best chain hotel. We were looking for a reliable chain hotel on the beachfront in SPI, and there was no better place than the Holiday Inn Resort South Padre Island-Beach Front. Imagine miles of sparkling golden sands right across multiple wooden walkways from the pool deck and everywhere else; that’s the South Padre Island Holiday Inn beach resort for you.
When staying here, our days were filled with lounging on the daybeds at the beach, swimming in the pool, and sipping cocktails at the poolside bar. When we’d had our fill of adventures and got hungry, the onsite restaurant, Seaside Bar & Grill, was perfect for all meals, including breakfast spreads and delicious seafood dinners.
We loved the choice of rooms here, which came with views of the pool or partial/complete views of the rooms. Staying in one of the rooms with full beach views was the highlight of our stay, but all rooms and suites have in-room amenities such as coffeemakers, microwaves, cable TVs, and more. Overall, we had an amazing time at this Holiday Inn outpost.

Best value for money. We were looking for value-for-money beachfront accommodations on SPI when the La Internacional Condominiums caught our attention. The superb beachfront location, along with excellent in-room amenities, was the perfect formula for a wonderful seaside getaway. Of course, the affordable price was the cherry on top.
The services and facilities at these condos were first-rate. Not only could we directly access the beach, but we could do so from the pool deck. What’s more, the pool deck with a lovely sea-facing pool and jacuzzi had us soaking up the sun, sand, and the vibes for hours. That said, the star feature at this condominium complex is the apartments themselves, besides the beachfront location, of course. We felt like we were staying in a fancier version of our house, with spacious living areas, cozy yet swanky bedrooms, and full kitchens for whipping up meals. Our favorite feature, though, was the beach-facing private balcony where we’d spend mornings drinking coffee and evenings drinking wine.

We were a large group of friends traveling to SPI, which is why staying at the Sea Vista condo complex made perfect sense. We loved the spacious accommodation choices, which were in the form of ground-floor and top-floor condos and apartments. Moreover, we had the choice of two—and three-bedroom choices, all of which came with beach-facing balconies. Besides the beautiful views, the condo/apartment also came with comfortable bedrooms, sleek and fully-equipped kitchens, and even laundry facilities.
However, the spacious condos and apartments weren’t the only thing that we loved about this hotel. For starters, the hotel had an amazing private beach area, complete with daybeds and beach loungers. So, we’d like to spend the entire day on the sands, swimming in the waters and lounging. Back at the resort, we had everything from tennis courts to resort-style pools and a bunch of water fun and activities to keep the fun going.

Located close to Beach Access No. 22, the Florence Condominium is perfect for a family or a large group of friends to relax and enjoy a splendid time on South Padre Island. We loved the spacious and stylish two-bedroom condos, which came with luxe bathrooms as well as a swanky, fully-equipped kitchen. So, we could whip up meals anytime, especially when we didn’t want to get out even for meals. Other fantastic amenities include a beachfront balcony with amazing beach and sea views, alfresco furniture for relaxing, and flatscreen TVs in the living room and both bedrooms. In fact, the living room and its wall of windows offered sweeping views of the beach and the ocean.
Downstairs, the condominium complex has a boatload of amenities that made our stay comfortable. For starters, the outdoor pool with a shallow end and beach-facing view makes it all even better. Free Wi-Fi is available everywhere, and since the condominium is strategically located in the center of SPI, we were within walking distance of local shops, bars, and restaurants.

The Margaritaville Beach Resort South Padre Island is on multiple best SPI hotel lists, including being one of the best South Padre Island oceanfront resorts. This resort balances luxury and fun and sits right on the beach, complete with sun loungers and daybeds. So, we’d spend as much time as we could on the sands, especially since the hotel even offered beachside service.
Back at the hotel, we had access to everything from a gift shop to a heated outdoor swimming pool, which would be open all around the year. What’s more, we had the choice of three restaurants onsite for drinks and dining, including a delicious breakfast spread. So, we didn’t have to step out of the resort at all. After pool time, we’d head to the spa for some well-deserved pampering. Rounding things up here is a fitness center.
“Staying at Margaritaville was like a dreamy escape, and it was definitely worth multiple visits!”
WOW Travel
We had our choice of beach-facing rooms, suites, and condos, and our pick was the spectacular junior suite, which also came with a balcony. It offered us phenomenal views of the beach and the ocean.

Where to Stay in South Padre Island on the Beachfront?
SPI is an iconic destination, but since it’s a long barrier island, choosing where to stay is crucial. To begin with, there’s Isla Blanca Beach on the southernmost end of the island. The sprawling coastal retreat is a haven for nature lovers and beach-goers. Think white sandy beaches perfect for bird-watching, bay fishing, and swimming. Secondly, there’s the stretch between Beach Markers No. 1 and Beach Access No. 16, which is between the south and the middle of the island. Finally, there’s the area north of Beach Access No. 16 and the Andy Bowie County Park at the northernmost end of South Padre Island. Both stretches are home to most of the beachfront hotels on the Gulf of Mexico’s eastern side. Moreover, most of the hotels on the western end face the inner part of the barrier island and feature marinas and docks.
When’s the best time to visit South Padre Island?
While SPI has a delightful year-round climate, spring and summer are the best time to visit. That’s when the weather is ideal and warm for beach activities. If you want fewer crowds around, head here during the shoulder seasons of winter and fall. It’s also when you’ll get the best deals on South Padre Island beach resorts and hotels.
How do we get around the island?
SPI has free public transportation, the Island Metro, so renting a car is not necessary. The island is also bike-friendly and easily walkable.
When do the famous fireworks take place at SPI?
As per SPI tradition, the fireworks are scheduled all Friday and Saturday nights over the Gulf of Mexico and all Thursday and Friday nights over the Laguna Madre Bay during summer.
