The 2015-launched Helix Sleep has gone on to become one of the most sought-after bedding brands in the market. The direct-to-consumer mattress company is well-known for its sleep quiz, which recommends mattresses based on our personal preferences, sleeping position, and weight. What sets the brand apart from its peers is its expansive line of mattresses, which comprise a wide range of sleep styles. They ranged from sturdy and ultra-firm to plush and super-soft, allowing us sleepers of different preferences and styles to find bedding that worked for us. In this list of affordable Helix mattresses, we’ve introduced the best bedding options from its standard line and chatted up their distinctive features. Plus, we’ve gone from the firmest product to the softest one, so take your pick.
The brand also has every version of their mattresses in a luxurious or ‘Elite’ version. You could also check out our list of our favorite Helix mattresses.
Helix Dawn
6
The firmest bed in the Helix line is the Helix Dawn, which is made from supportive pocketed coils, sturdy High-Grade Responsive Foam, and layers of bouncy Dynamic Foam. Given all this, we’d highly recommend this bedding for most stomach and back sleepers like us. Our bodies greatly benefited from the bed’s strong lift, allowing us to sleep squarely atop the mattress.
The mattress has two layers, a comfort layer and a transition one. The former blends the responsive foam and Helix Dynamic Foam. Together, they created the feeling of sleeping atop the bed rather than sinking into it. while also providing pressure relief for us to stay comfortable throughout the night. Finally, the transition layer of lower IFD responsive foam provided cushioning and strong ergonomic support. Thus, it helped relieve pressure around our shoulders and hips.
All this gave the mattress a firmness index of 7.5, which is higher than the market standard of 6.5 for a medium-firm bedding.
Pros
- This mattress is perfect for those who tend to overheat while sleeping and couples looking for a responsive surface for sex.
- It’s perfect for stomach and back sleepers.
- It relieves pressure off the shoulders and back nicely.
Cons
- Since it’s bouncy, your sleeping partner’s movement could transfer during the night.

Helix Dusk

Like its luxe counterpart Midnight, the Helix Dusk is a medium-firm bedding. However, thanks to the layer of the brand’s Dynamic Foam, it made for a slightly bouncier feel. Basically, the mattress has two layers, a comfort layer and a transition one. The former top layer is of soft Dynamic Foam, which had a pressure-relieving yet bouncy tone but didn’t sink us in it. What’s more, this foam is blended with a traditional layer of responsive foam, which greatly aids in pressure relief and comfort.
So, it ended up not only relieving pressure but also offering more ergonomic support around the hips and shoulders. We felt that the mattress scored a 6 on the firmness scale as compared to the market norm of 6.5 catering to medium firm bedding. All in all, we’d recommend this mattress primarily for those who sleep both on their back or those who sleep on their back and stomach.
Pros
- Lightweight people will love this mattress, notwithstanding their sleep position.
- Sleepers with sharp pressure points will find this mattress very comfortable.
- It has just the right amount of firmness and non-firmness.
Cons
- Those who prefer a particularly firm or plush feel might not prefer this mattress.

Helix Moonlight

We now come to the more buoyant mattresses in Helix’s affordable lineup, starting with the Helix Moonlight. This bedding’s comfort layer employed the brand’s Dynamic Foam, thus ensuring a gentle yet buoyant feel as we slept. Not only that but also it was naturally cooling and quickly responding, so we felt we were sleeping atop it rather than sinking into it. That, combined with the transition layer of responsive foam, ensured that the lift was offset by good body contouring. If that wasn’t enough, it offered excellent ergonomic support while ensuring a comfortable and soft feel overall at the same time. Since it measured around 5.5 on the firmness scale, it offered a good deal of bounce for those looking for it specifically. Finally, since it featured nice pressure relief around the lower back and hips, we recommedn this mattress for back and side sleepers who prefer a softer mattress.
Pros
- This mattress is perfect for those who like a particularly plush feel.
- The mattress comes with a 10-15-year warranty.
- We loved the soft, comforting layers.
Cons
- For those who weigh more than 130 lbs, the Helix Moonlight might be too soft.

Helix Twilight

Comfortable and deep sleep came easily to us with the Helix Twilight, which is a taut bed for those who still require pressure relief points around the lower back and shoulders. We loved the layers of Copper Gel Memory Foam build, which, when combined with the responsive foam from the brand, makes this the penultimate mattress in Helix’s standard affordable line when it comes to firm quality. What we liked about this mattress is that the Copper Gel Memory Foam starts off things with a gradual response to pressure. So, it allowed us to sink in for cushiony relief, but not too far in. Moreover, the foam also actively absorbed and dissipated the movement across the bed. For those who sleep on the back and stomach, as well as a combination of them like we do, this mattress is just right.
Pros
- We liked the bounce and firmness of the bed, which kept us atop it with just the right amount of sink-in feeling.
- It’s perfect for back and stomach sleepers, notwithstanding their weight.
- It provided even support across the back.
Cons
- It might not be for those who wake up easily due to their sleeping partners’ motions.

Helix Midnight
2
The Helix Midnight is famously hailed as the most popular model from the brand, and it’s easy to see why. This medium-firm option is perfect for people searching for extreme pressure relief, and it offers an excellent balance. For one, it’s one of Helix’s only two products to feature a combination of Memory Plus Foam and the brand’s responsive foam in the comfort layer. So, together, they not only offered a nice body contouring feel but also relieved pressure around our joints.
Moreover, we didn’t feel “stuck” in the memory foam layer, which was great. Furthermore, it has a second transition layer, which offers both ergonomic support and a cushioning feel. Besides relieving pressure, we found this bedding to be particularly fantastic at absorbing and dissipating movement. So, we didn’t wake up when our partners moved at night, which is a huge blessing!
Pros
- This mattress relieved pressure around sensitive spots like the lower back, hips, and shoulders.
- It isolated motion extremely well, making it ideal for light sleepers.
- For side and back sleepers weighing more than 230 lbs, this mattress is perfect.
Cons
- It might cause heavier people to sink into it.

Helix Sunset

Sitting at the top of the list is the Helix Sunset, the softest bedding in the brand’s line and our personal favorite. Even though it has a sturdy base layer, we did enjoy a lovely sinking-in feeling when we first lay down on it. This was partly due to the top comfort layer of plush Copper Gel Memory Foam, which, along with the responsive foam, not only helped relieve joint pressure but also offered some nice body contouring. What’s more, the transition layer offered our body excellent cushioning along with ergonomic support. Thanks to its low-motion transfer property, this bed is perfect for light sleepers like us who weren’t easily awoken by our partners moving in the night.
Finally, it rated around 5.5 on the firmness scale, which makes it clear that this bedding is quite soft. Overall, this mattress was made for the side sleepers, providing intense pressure relief both at the hips and shoulders. What more could we want?
Pros
- It’s the brand’s softest model in the standard line.
- Thanks to its motion transfer properties, we weren’t awoken when our partner moved in the night.
- We loved the extra cushioning.
Cons
- None, really.
