New Orleans, or NOLA, as we like to call it, is known for many things. It’s the birthplace of Jazz, the first city in the US to host an Opera, and also home to many lively celebrations. The most enticing thing about this city is its unique culture, which is a mix of African-American, French, and Spanish. Combined, all of these reasons make the city a dream destination for many travelers. However, one can’t have an enjoyable NOLA experience without a proper place to sleep, and that’s where The Westin in New Orleans comes in.
We knew we had to spend a night or two when we first learned about the hotel. Why? Mostly because of the location! It allowed us to explore the French Quarter easily and visit our must-go attractions in mere minutes. Also, the clear views of the Mississippi River are to die for. Sure, it might not be your extra lavish hotel with over-the-top amenities. However, with its price tag, unbeatable location, and amazing rooms, this hotel is certainly one of NOLA’s best offerings.

Places just steps away
Let’s first talk about the obvious—the location. The Westin NOLA has an unbeatable one. It puts the hotel right on Canal Street, with the Mississippi River stretching out before us. Being connected to The Shops at Canal Place was so convenient. It was just a short walk to explore the unique boutiques on Royal Street and indulge in the delicious eateries along Bourbon Street.
We kid you not; staying at this modern hotel was an awesome experience. We loved how we could be right in the heart of the action, but the hotel itself offered a tranquil escape. Best of all, we were able to visit Caesars Casino and bring home some gold! It was just a quick stroll away from the hotel. Talk about luck!

Million-dollar views
Now, the rooms at The Westin NOLA are nothing short of impressive. They’re bigger than your typical New Orleans hotel rooms. We were lucky enough to snag a whopping 900 sq ft of the River Suite! It felt like a whole apartment, and the view of the Mississippi River was incredible. If you’re looking for the ultimate luxury stay, the Presidential Suite boasts a separate living area and its own stunning views of the city or the river.
No matter what room you choose, you’ll be pampered with their Heavenly marble bathrooms stocked with White Tea bath products. Thankfully, there was also a 24-hour room service since we often got munchies in the middle of the night. Our overall experience at our suite was A+! Stunning Dining
We were impressed by The Westin NOLA‘s on-site dining options. For a fancy night out, Observatory Eleven definitely steals the show. It has this amazing circular bar design with floor-to-ceiling windows. We loved sipping on the handcrafted cocktails while enjoying the stunning river views. There’s a separate lounge area, too, so it’s almost like a whole vibe up there.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for something more casual, Bistro at the Bend on the 11th floor is a great choice. It’s bright and relaxed, with a focus on breakfast and Cajun cuisine. It has a variety of menus and quite literally everything you could ask for, from classic Eggs Benedict to crawfish nachos, which is a must-try if you’re in New Orleans.

Music nights!
Speaking of which, The Westin NOLA also invites its guests to enjoy impressive music performances on their music nights. Taking place at Observatory Eleven, we had a fantastic experience catching some live music. You can enjoy the music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4 PM to 7 PM. The overall vibe was immaculate, and we even wished it was held every single night throughout the week. A place with good drinks and good music in the heart of New Orleans – things truly can’t get any better than that.
“Have an authentic NOLA experience at the hotel’s Observatory Eleven. Have your drink, enjoy the music, and dance to the rythm!”

Body and soul wellness
Finally, the Westin in New Orleans also offers a wellness program to help its guests stay on track during their stay. The WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio was a big plus for us. It’s open 24/7, which is fantastic for early risers or night owls who like to squeeze in a workout whenever their schedule allows. We were impressed by the cardio machines, free weights, and strength training equipment, which was all we needed to maintain our routine.
While The Westin itself doesn’t have a spa, there’s a spa called Spa Atlantis located just half a mile away. Of course, we had to try it out. We tried the Atlantis Massage, and it was wonderful. In addition to that, you can also consider couples massage, prenatal massage, warm stone massage, and many other treatments.
