Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville, Autograph Collection

Best boutique hotel. There’s nothing better than staying in an English village-like atmosphere, and the gorgeous Tudor-style Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville Autograph Collection offered us that. This posh boutique hotel in Asheville, NC, happens to be one of the best boutique hotels in Asheville, North Carolina. Nestled in Biltmore Village, this innately English village-like enclave blends the vibe of a rustic hunting lodge with European flair. As we walked into the lobby, we felt transported back in time to an old-world hunting lodge, complete with large fireplaces and taxidermied animals. The only difference was that in the modern world, we were served champagne as we checked in.
We loved the rooms and suites, which featured old-world touches like velvet headboards and antler lighting fixtures, complemented thoroughly by marble bathrooms with soaking tubs. Not only did the resort not charge us a resort fee, but it also offered free Wi-Fi, which extended to the rooms. Aside from the usual mod-cons, we were pleasantly surprised to see a pair of plush complimentary bathrobes awaiting us in the room.
Downstairs, we unwound with a couple’s treatment at the Poseidon Spa. Our evening began with a cocktail at the bar, followed by a tour of the art gallery. Finally, we wound up the day at the Black Forest Wine Room for a private dinner. Do you prefer European-inspired delights? The Red Stag Grill is the place to be.

The Restoration Asheville

One of the newer luxury hotels in downtown Asheville is The Restoration, sitting in an enviable location right across from Pritchard Park. Formerly a bank, this striking hotel is famed for its showstopping decor throughout. We were immediately impressed, whether it was the high ceilings in their on-site restaurant or the absolutely cool and funky decor books in the library. Plus, the natural light at the Observatory bar was absolutely stunning, and we couldn’t stop ourselves from looking upward between sipping our cocktails. In fact, we ended up never leaving the hotel between the farm-to-table restaurant, the speakeasy basement bat, the library, the coffee shop, and the rooftop bar!
Even though it lies in the heart of downtown, the hotel did great on amenities, including a terrace, free Wi-Fi, and even a fitness center. One particular feature worth mentioning is the hotel’s use of Gilchrist & Soames bath products throughout the hotel, which we were impressed by. Aside from the mod-cons in the rooms and suites, we loved the Restoration bathrobes in every room, which made us feel at home and special at the same time.

Best historic luxury. If you’re just as interested in a town’s history as we are, The Foundry Hotel in the buzzing Block neighborhood is just what you want. The fact that this 87-room property sits just minutes away from the town’s dining, sightseeing, and entertainment is just a bonus. The Hilton Curio Collection hotel sits in a former steel foundry which partly contributed to the Biltmore Estate construction. For us culture vultures, looking at the retained historic elements, like the original pulley elevator and the exposed beams, was a dream come true.
So, why did we love it here? Because they could connect rooms, we didn’t all have to spend time cooped up in the same space. Thus, we could appreciate the industrial vibe, such as the steel windows, brick walls, and upholstered headboards.
Since this is an upscale yet serene space, we loved exploring the hotel and its green spaces, quiet patios, artwork, and general design. We enjoyed a complimentary ride downtown in the hotel’s Tesla Model X and enjoyed a day of shopping and sightseeing. Back at the hotel, we celebrated by getting cocktails at the Workshop Lounge, followed by delicious Applaican soul food at the restaurant Benne on Eagle.
Do you know the Foundry also happens to be one of Asheville’s top gay-friendly hotels?

The Omni Grove Park Inn

Nobody does historic and modern luxury together in Asheville like The Omni Grove Park Inn, a 1913-built full-fledged resort offering some of the most well-rounded amenities in the region.
Not only does it have a Donald Ross-designed 18-hole golf course, but it also has indoor and outdoor pools. Furthermore, it has a 50,000 sq. ft. huge sports complex with tennis courts. Do you like to get out and explore the surroundings? There’s even a hiking trail leading off the property. Don’t worry about being unable to relax and wind down after returning from a long day of sightseeing or hiking. We headed straight to the 43,000-square-foot subterranean spa, where the sheer choices of massages and treatments left us relaxed. So, when we actually did get the message, it left us rejuvenated, refreshed, and relaxed. The best bit? There are as many as 10 food and beverage options here!
But what makes it so historically significant is that it was built using granite from the neighboring Sunset Mountain and is a National Register of Historic Places property. Besides being used as an internment center during WWII, it was also an Army Redistribution Station. It was also where F. Scott Fitzgerald, who called Asheville home, wrote The Great Gatsby! Plus, there have been a slew of Presidential visits here from 1929 to 2010. That’s why it’s one of Asheville’s most historic hotels.
All the 500+ rooms and suites are great, including the 28 rooms on the adults-only floor where we were. Are you coming with the kids around the holidays? They’ll love the gingerbread houses displayed at the annual national competition hosted by the hotel.

Windsor Boutique Hotel

History buffs, artists, and creative types flock to the four-star, all-suite Windsor Boutique Hotel, which offers home-away-from-home luxury. Tucked in the heart of downtown Asheville, this hotel had just 14 digs, so staying here made for a very uniquely intimate and exclusive experience. While they all have a mix of decor, art, and color palettes ranging from magenta to brown, they all have Sfrerra linens, full kitchens, living areas, and even in-unit laundry facilities for those who want to stay for a longer time. We loved that we were presented with complimentary drinks and snacks from time to time.
Once we’d settled in, we joined the complimentary art gallery tour at the hotel, which concluded at the spectacular Benjamin Walls Art Gallery and Wine and Chocolate Truffle Bar. Here, we enjoyed a few tipples (and chocolate truffles) as the guide told us about the historic backstory of the hotel and the stunning artwork collection. When we wanted to unwind, the C&Co Skincare and Spa awaited us, which even offered in-room spa treatments. What more could we ask for?

1900 Inn On Montford

Best B&B. Celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary had us looking for Asheville’s most romantic hotels when we stumbled upon the 1900 Inn On Montford, and we’re thrilled that we did! Nestled in an Arts and Crafts-style structure, the eight-room B&B is very popular with weddings, so you can see its romantic appeal. The neat little driveway, the gorgeously green gardens, and the pink tree in full bloom – it literally couldn’t get any more romantic.
On the inside, the inn is even lovelier. American and English antiques dating from 1730 to 1910 peppered the entire space, which was run by some of the nicest innkeepers we’ve ever seen and met. The rooms in the main house are amazing, specifically, the bathrooms that wowed us with features like a steam bath, Roman baths, soaking tubs, and even a fiber-optic “starry” floor. While accommodations range from the Edith Wharton room to the 1,150-square-foot Cloisters carriage house, we loved the Fitzgerald Room. It came with the most enchanting bathroom with a jacuzzi for two, perfect for a romantic vacation.
“Staying at the 1900 Montford Inn is one of the most unique staying experiences we’ve ever had!”

Applewood Manor Inn Bed and Breakfast

Most romantic. Tucked in Asheville’s historic Montford district, the gorgeous Applewood Manor sits on a grassy knoll. What’s more, all kinds of flowers and trees surround it; think maples, pines, oaks, apple trees, giant wild cherries, and whatnot. This jaw-droppingly fabulous B&B went through a multi-million dollar renovation in 2021 – and it shows. So much so that we couldn’t believe that this was one of the region’s longest-continuously operating B&Bs!
The romance was in the air as soon as we stepped onto the grounds and into the B&B, where the most incredible hosts welcomed us. Their personal art collection is peppered throughout the common areas, complemented beautifully by tasteful furnishings. The hospitality began right off the bat when they’d fuel us up for the day by curating the most delicious farm-to-table breakfast ever. In fact, they take pride in their culinary offerings, which include beer and wine tastings and even bespoke cooking classes when we stayed here. Talk about upping the romance factor! When we felt like stepping out, we’d rent the 3T bikes and go exploring the neighborhood.
With just six individually designed suites, we had our pick of choice. What’s more, they all featured luxurious amenities like homemade chocolate chip cookies, L’Occitane toiletries, Marshall Stockwell II Bluetooth speakers, and Duxiana mattresses draped in Sferra linens. Phew. We chose a room that also came with a fireplace and a private balcony, making for one hell of an amazing romantic experience.

Kimpton Hotel Arras

We were looking for a luxurious chain hotel in Asheville, and what better than a Kimpton hotel for indulgences? We’re talking about the Kimpton Hotel Arras, which was perfect for social butterflies like us. This hip, sexy hotel smack dab on Pack Square puts us at the heart of all the downtown action. It sits in the former BB&T Bank Building, which is Asheville’s tallest building and is full of Southern charm. As soon as we entered, the high-ceilinged lobby with eye-popping design ceiling art immediately caught our attention.
As we were shown our room, the Executive Suite, we needed to stress how spacious even the entry-level rooms were. Our spacious pad, on the other hand, had local artwork and came with floor-to-ceiling windows and sensational views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Did you know the windows open? Yes! So, it was very nice to get some fresh air, which in itself is a luxury! The marble bathroom was particularly alluring, complete with a bathtub, a rain shower, and amazing views of downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
When hunger struck, we visited the all-day Bargello restaurant, where we also had breakfast, and dug into some of the most wonderful Southern fare we’ve ever had. Finally, the lobby-level District 42 bar and lounge offers creative cocktails, shared bites, and even DJs or live music Thursday-Saturday. While it’s quiet during the day, we did get free tea and coffee here, and evenings are when it transforms to host Kimpton’s famous free wine happy hour.

Walkable urban getaways are a different kind of luxury, aren’t they? That’s what we loved about the Haywood Park Hotel, a downtown Asheville gem with most of the city’s best offerings within walking distance. So much so that we handed over our car keys to the valet when we arrived and took them back only when we checked out! After settling into your suite, all of downtown Asheville awaits right outside your door. In fact, we were a stone’s throw from some of Asheville’s best offerings of theaters, art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, live music, and nightlife spots. If that eminent – and long – roster confuses you, you could do what we did and simply check with the concierge about the events happening around. That way, we filtered out what we wanted to see, prioritized them, and enjoyed exploring the neighborhood.
Nestled in what was once the city’s first department store, the hotel has some of downtown Asheville’s largest suites. The smallest suite was a whopping 380 sq. ft, while the largest of them all was the 1,200 sq. ft huge Grand King Suite. Our Deluxe King Suite was somewhere in the middle but luxuriously furnished with a Keurig coffeemaker, a fridge, a flat-screen TV, and even a spa bath.

Blind Tiger Asheville

The Blind Tiger Asheville feels like a modern-day fairytale castle. This boutique property, formerly 1889 White Gate Inn & Cottage, lies close to the Biltmore Estate and downtown. We loved our lavish stay at this reinvented Lark Hotels’ historic home-turned-chic accommodation for more reasons than one. Firstly, each of the 14 rooms is innately Instagrammable, all differently decorated with a charming jumble of vintage, handmade, and antique objects, lighting fixtures, wallpaper, furniture, and art. The vibe spills downstairs into the eclectic communal areas.
Of the 14 colorful rooms, we loved the choices in the main house and the cottages and ended up choosing a standalone one-bedroom cottage for our stay. The massive space had separate living and bedrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a fireplace. Plus, the interiors were plush, and the lighting was moody, making our stay intimate and romantic. Our days began with a hearty continental breakfast spread in the parlor, with fixings like fruit, yogurt, toast, beverages, and more. Plus, we loved that we had access to a pantry stocked with complimentary cocktail fixings, cold brew, and snacks, which ensured that we had a rollicking afternoon and evening too.
The best thing here was the many communal areas where we could chat, read books, and play games. Finally, we loved the outdoors, which included a lush and rambling garden with koi ponds and broad-leaf plants.

The Inn On Biltmore Estate

Most luxurious overall. The Inn On Biltmore Estate is, without a doubt, the most luxurious lodging option in Asheville and has been for a long time. The French Renaissance-style home, which is George Vanderbilt and his family’s former country retreat, dates back to 1895.
When we stepped onto the estate, the manicured gardens with blooming flowers and verdure everywhere instantly put us in laidback mode. While we couldn’t stay overnight in the original Biltmore mansion, the inn is where the accommodations actually are. What’s more, whether one chooses a deluxe room or a luxurious suite, everyone gets to enjoy sweeping views of the sprawling estate and the Blue Ridge Mountains. They all featured Biltmore-inspired textures and furnishings, which made it easy for us to cozy up in our plush bathrobes and settle down for the night.
The rest of the property also has a traditional look, with patterned wallpapers, Empire valances, and dark wood furniture. Between our explorations of the huge estate, we took time to relax at the hotel’s spa, where the concierge had made excellent arrangements for a couple’s massage. Later on, we unwound by the heated pool, followed by a much-needed soak in the hot tub. We’d settle into Adirondack chairs in the evenings to soak in the stunning views. Once we were ready for dinner, the formal Dining Room with a delicious estate-focused menu awaited us. The best part of the day? When we got to hang out in the Library Lounge for nightcap cocktails.

Finally, consider the River Arts District, a quirky area famed for its thriving art scene.

What is so great about Asheville?
The thriving mountain city has an eclectic and funky downtown, a great live music and culinary scene, and a bevy of art galleries, aside from the Appalachian Mountains scenery.
Why can’t you see all the rooms at the Biltmore Estate?
