Getting to the President Hotel, Valamar Collection from the airport was actually faster than we imagined. It took us only 30 minutes, and it’s also just a short hop from the Gruž ferry port. Aside from that, going to the Old Town was also a breeze. We took bus #6 and were already surrounded by the ancient walls in minutes.

But the real star of the show was the beach. This lovely little pebble cove quickly became our favorite spot, lined with palm trees and those dreamy sun beds shaded by white baldachins. The Abyss Diving Center, right on-site, made it all so effortless, whether we wanted to jet ski or just snorkel among the fish. After all that activity, the Balance Mediterranean Spa was our sanctuary. The saunas and massages using local Croatian products were heavenly.

Our V Level Suite for 2+2 with a Jacuzzi was certainly the cherry on top. We had everything and more, literally. From Rituals toiletries to disposable toothbrush and shaving kit, you name it. The highlight, of course, was the jacuzzi on our private terrace. There was no better way for us to call it a day than by taking a soak while watching the sunset.

Hidden within Dubrovnik’s pedestrian-only Old Town, Boutique Hotel Stari Grad was like our little oasis in the middle of the city’s buzz. The location was super convenient, as we could find ourselves at the Pile Gate, walking along the ancient city walls, or browsing through charming cafes in minutes. Even Banje Beach and its postcard-perfect Adriatic views were just a short, easy walk away.

What stood out most, though, was the genuine warmth of the people working there. The staff went above and beyond, helping us plan spontaneous day trips and making sure every detail of our stay felt effortless. Dinner at Above 5, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, turned into an experience rather than just a meal. Every bite was unforgettable. And when we wanted a little pampering, the Icona Thai Spa right next door was exactly what we needed.

We stayed in the Junior Suite with a balcony, and it was pure bliss. We were even welcomed by a complimentary bottle of wine. The balcony quickly became our favorite hangout. We loved spending our mornings and evenings there, with endless views of terracotta rooftops meeting the sea.

Compared to the lively Old Town, staying at the Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel, which is only a short taxi ride from the airport, felt much more peaceful. The hotel sits in a quiet bay, framed by rugged limestone hills that catch the light beautifully at sunset. It’s just far enough from the crowds but close enough to reach everything easily. We never had any problem getting to the Old Town thanks to the local buses and the summer shuttle boat.

We think the heart of this hotel is the Shine Spa. During our downtime, we would swim in the indoor pool, try the Finnish sauna, and even give the Turkish hammam a go. The outdoor area was equally stunning, with a big turquoise pool surrounded by rosemary and mimosa-scented gardens. To add, we also loved spending hours lazing on the pebble beach right in front, occasionally renting kayaks and paddleboards.

We got the Superior King Room, and it was everything we wanted. We had our own balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows, and the “Sheraton Sweet Sleeper” bed. It was easily one of the most comfortable hotel beds we’ve ever had. Whether you get a garden or sea view, every room feels serene, like a private hideaway.

Villa Dubrovnik

We love everything about Villa Dubrovnik. The hotel sits about a 15-minute walk from the Old Town, so we could explore the area for dinner with ease. During our trip, we signed up for a private walking tour of the Old Town and a boat trip to Korčula, both arranged by the hotel, and they were absolute highlights. We also took the complimentary motorboat and glided past the city walls.

From the very start of our stay, the service blew us away. Everyone, from the front desk to the bartenders, made us feel at home. Our experience was even further enhanced by Villa Spa. With a terrace, a sauna, and an indoor pool with glass doors, we’re sure you’ll always want to return.

For our stay, we booked the Romantiko Suite, which had sliding windows that opened right to the sea. We loved to leave them ajar at night. Additionally, we also appreciated the custom La Bottega toiletries and espresso machine. This place honestly gave us one of our most peaceful stays.

Hotel More is one of our favorite luxurious boutique hotels. It’s located on the serene Lapad Peninsula and only moments away from Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Getting around was so easy for us as well, as there was a local bus stop to the UNESCO-protected historic center near the hotel.

We stayed in one of the suites, and honestly, it was a great call. The balcony opened up to sweeping sea views, perfect for slow breakfasts or sunset glasses of wine. Inside, we had sleek furnishings, a cozy sitting area, and a plush bed. The bathroom was a dream, too, complete with a big bathtub, soft robes, and even a magnifying mirror.

The highlight of our stay, however, was the Cave Bar More. Built right into a natural cave below the hotel, it’s one of those places that you can’t quite believe exists until you see it. We loved sipping cocktails surrounded by cool rock walls. We’re sure you’ll be as amazed as us!

Best Wellness Amenities. We didn’t mean to fall in love with Sun Gardens Dubrovnik quite so fast, but as one of the best hotels in Dubrovnik, Croatia, this place made it hard to play it cool. The view of the Elaphiti Islands alone kept us mesmerized for hours. Throughout our stay, we found ourselves spoiled for choice, especially in terms of wellness. The wellness facilities are over 20 sq ft, including a modern gym, a tennis court, a football pitch, and a rock-climbing wall. There’s also an 11 sq ft award-winning spa with an indoor pool and saunas.

We wanted to have the best experience, which is why we went with the Deluxe Suite. It was sleek and modern, but still super cozy. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. Whether you’re a couple, a family, or just someone chasing a bit of Mediterranean sunshine, this place hits all the right notes.

When it came to food, let’s just say we ate very well. From gourmet dinners with dreamy sea views to sunset drinks at the Lemonia or Marina Bar, every meal felt like a celebration of Croatian flavor and flair. Perched on a hillside overlooking the Adriatic, Rixos Premium Dubrovnik has this incredible vantage point. Everywhere we turned, there was a new angle of that deep-blue sea or the green slopes framing the coast. Our room also had a panoramic view, which made it hard to leave the balcony.

Speaking of which, the hotel has 310 rooms. Although all of them are comfortable, it’s still hard not to leave, as there are so many things to do on the property. We tried the indoor and outdoor pools, worked off breakfast in the fitness center, and then gave ourselves over to pure relaxation in the wellness area. And speaking of exploring, the UNESCO-listed Old Town is just a short walk or taxi ride away.

But the real highlight? The food. We had dinner at Libertas Fish Restaurant, where the catch of the day practically melted in our mouths, and breakfast at Turquoise Restaurant, which had everything from local pastries to made-to-order omelets. Better yet, every meal came with that unbeatable sea view.

Best for Families. Hotel Kompas, set right in Lapad Bay, gave us the perfect balance of beach tranquility and easy access to the Old Town. Every morning, we would kick off the day with a stroll along the promenade. And when we needed to explore the Old Town, we just had to take a 20-minute bus ride. Convenient, right?

The spa was one of our favorite on-site discoveries. It’s an all-white sanctuary that offers tons of amazing treatments. We enjoyed our sessions in the Finnish sauna and steam room. Of course, we made sure to take a quick dip in the indoor pool as well. We then ended our spa time with a herbal tea.

Our Double Room was just as dreamy, complete with a balcony that looked out over the bay. Our favorite, though, was the little touches. We had L’Occitane toiletries, fluffy robes, and a beautiful artwork by Saša Šekoranja, which added so much character to the space. Whether you’re a couple chasing a romantic escape or a family wanting a mix of luxury and adventure (there’s even babysitting for parents who need a break), Hotel Kompas never disappoints.

It took us only a night to understand why people were raving about Hotel Dubrovnik Palace. Perched on the peaceful Lapad Peninsula, surrounded by pines and olive trees, it’s far enough from Dubrovnik’s crowds. We never had to worry about transport, though. Whenever we wanted to go to town, all we needed was a quick cab ride.

Fun fact: this hotel has been looking sleek and stunning since its 2014 revamp. Think clean lines, teal and grey tones, and mid-century touches. We’re talking deep bathtubs, Natura Bissé toiletries, and even a VIP wing with minimalist, Japanese-inspired suites for total seclusion.

Then there’s the spa. Thanks to the indoor pool, saunas, and sea-view gym, it was almost impossible for us not to relax. We tried a Thalgo facial, floated in the jacuzzi, and then wandered up to the Sunset Lounge for cocktails and panoramic views. In summer, you’ve got four restaurants and two bars; in winter, the Elafiti buffet and Maslina Tavern hold down the fort with excellent Dalmatian dishes.

As a 5-star hotel, Excelsior’s on-site spa is nothing short of outstanding. We swam lazy laps in the indoor pool, drifted between the whirlpools and sauna, and tried even the Roman bath. The highlight, though, was the Sisley hydrating facial. You should definitely give it a try. On top of that, the hotel also boasts a state-of-the-art gym and a hairdresser on-site.

If you can, treat yourself to one of the Signature Suites. There are only four, and they’re worth every bit of hype. Ours had a bathtub with a direct view of Old Town and a private balcony that made waking up super early worth it. Yes, they’re pricey. However, it’s an experience you’ll find nowhere else.

Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik

Best Location. We couldn’t have asked for a more luxurious (and better located) base in Dubrovnik than the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik. This 5-star hotel is perfectly perched just steps away from the city’s ancient stone walls, making it a great choice for those looking for the best hotels in Dubrovnik Old Town. It has been welcoming travelers since 1897, yet everything about it feels refreshingly modern. The views alone stopped us in our tracks: terracotta rooftops, deep-blue Adriatic, and glowing city walls.

We booked the Executive Room, and it was the definition of comfort. We especially loved the soft, natural light pouring through the windows in the morning and the plush bed that made us sleep like rocks. Aside from that, we also managed to sneak in some time at the Executive Lounge, which is the only one in Dubrovnik. There, we sipped wine on the balcony while watching the sunset.

And then there’s The Imperial Terrace. It’s the hotel’s restaurant that’s surrounded by greenery. We truly enjoyed the perfectly grilled seafood and the crisp glass of Croatian white wine. The best part of our dining experience? We were accompanied by the view of Fort Lovrijenac. Such a romantic setting!
