Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik
11
Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik lives up to its reputation! Perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking Miramare Bay, the hotel’s glass façade catches both the sunlight and the sea breeze. From our room, we could see the sparkling Adriatic framed by rugged stretches of the Croatian coast. What’s more, it’s only about a 10-minute stroll to Dubrovnik’s Old Town.
Inside, the Bellevue’s design is quietly elegant. The interiors are done up in dark woods and crisp whites. Our suite had one of those deep bathtubs right in the bedroom, and it was easily our favorite thing about the suite. Of course, it was also big, bright, and equipped with all the standard amenities we needed.
We loved the two on-site restaurants, one serving modern Mediterranean dishes, the other a seafood spot tucked partly into a cliffside cave. Even the bar has a bit of whimsy, split in two by a glass-encased palm tree. Between lazy afternoons by the sea, leisurely meals, and the option to hop on a yacht, the Bellevue is the perfect example of a luxurious boutique hotel.

NINON
10
NINON is an adult-only boutique hotel, and it’s an impressive one. The heart of this hotel is undoubtedly its infinity pool, perched above the Adriatic Sea. It’s one of the most breathtaking and romantic spots we’ve ever floated in. It’s a serene stage for soaking up the endless blue and the scattered Croatian islands beyond.
But what truly makes NINON unforgettable is the soul behind it. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth. Every interaction was personal and full of heart. Before we could even voice a need, someone was already there with an answer. We were given a glass of lemon-mint water after a warm walk! It was like genuine care wrapped in effortless hospitality.
What about the food? We have nothing but good things to say. The fish came fresh from local fishermen the owners knew by name, while the olive oil, cherries, and even the bread came straight from nearby farms. Each bite reminded us that luxury doesn’t always come from extravagance.

Berkeley Hotel

The Berkeley Hotel is just a block away from the Gruž waterfront. It’s in a neighborhood that feels refreshingly local. We loved that it was bustling but never chaotic. We loved strolling around the nearby open-air market, grabbing juicy figs and fresh cheese before heading to the marina to watch the sailboats drift in. Better yet, the Old Town is about a 30-minute walk, or a quick bus ride if you’re feeling lazy.
Our favorite part of the hotel, though, was the pool deck on the first floor. The outdoor heated pool and whirlpool tub were what we badly needed after days of sightseeing, and lounging on the sunbeds with a cold drink felt downright luxurious. There’s also a small beauty salon offering massages and facials at very reasonable prices.
The rooms at the Berkeley are simple but stylish. We had the Superior Room facing the port, and waking up to that view of the marina was such a treat. The king-sized bed was also ridiculously comfy, and we appreciated small touches like the tea and coffee setup and a mini fridge for our market finds.

Villa Orsula

Best Service. We fell head over heels for Villa Orsula from the moment we learned about this place on the internet. Tucked away in a 1930s white stone villa, this boutique retreat is just a short, scenic walk from Dubrovnik’s Old Town. From the terraced gardens, we could see the shimmering Adriatic and the lush little islet of Lokrum. The view was just so beautiful.
What really made the stay special, though, was how personal everything was. The staff treated us like they had known us for years. They greeted us by name, offered heartfelt recommendations for hidden-gem restaurants and sunset spots, and somehow anticipated everything we wanted. We also loved spending our time in the garden filled with pine and lavender, then following the stone steps down to the private bathing platform where we could dip straight into the sea. When we wanted a change of scene, we would just use the pool, spa, and wellness facilities at the neighboring Grand Villa Argentina.
Our suite, though, was the definition of elegance. With arched windows, white shutters, and soft earth-toned fabrics, it was classic yet modern. The balcony framed gorgeous views of the Adriatic, and little touches like fresh fruit, homemade biscuits, and Bulgari toiletries made us feel utterly spoiled.

The Pucic Palace

The Pucic Palace had its way to make us feel a certain way. Let’s start with its location, which is right on Gundulić Square. Going to the open-air market was easy, as it was right below us. The scent of fresh fruit and coffee was too tempting! And like many other hotels in Dubrovnik Old Town, this hotel freed us from traffic.
Furthermore, with only a handful of rooms and suites, this place felt extremely intimate. Each room boasts wooden beams, antique furnishings, and elegantly draped curtains. Our bathroom was surprisingly a highlight, as it had mosaic tiles, a deep copper tub, and Bulgari toiletries. If you’re lucky enough to snag the Junior Suite, you’ll get a little stone balcony overlooking the square.
Though space is limited, the hotel still finds ways to pamper guests. They’ll arrange massages and beauty treatments on request, and we especially appreciated the premium sunbeds reserved for guests at nearby Banje Beach. The Palace also doubles as a dreamy wedding venue, with its own tiny Baroque chapel and a hidden terrace restaurant, Magdalena, that’s tailor-made for intimate receptions.

The Byron

Best Value for Money. Including The Byron on our list of the best boutique hotels in Dubrovnik is a must. It’s like a hidden gem tucked inside the city’s historic stone walls. The only slightly quirky part was the check-in. You have to pop by their shop just outside the old city walls first. But honestly, it was such a pleasant start: the process was effortless, and they even handed us a chilled drink before walking us to the hotel.
We stayed in the Cathedral Room, and the name couldn’t be more fitting. Our window looked straight out at the grand old cathedral. The room itself was charming and well-designed, with a tiny built-in kitchenette and fridge for storing snacks and cold drinks. We even found a little surprise waiting for us: welcome chocolates! It’s those small touches that make a stay feel personal, and The Byron nailed that perfectly.
Location-wise, it couldn’t be better. We could walk everywhere. Shops, restaurants, and historic sites were all within minutes. But our absolute favorite discovery? A seaside bar just steps away from the hotel, where you could sip drinks and dive straight into the Adriatic from the rocks. The staff were wonderful too: genuinely friendly, full of great food tips, and quick to help us book airport transfers.

One Suite Hotel
5
The One Suite Hotel is another option that you probably don’t know you’ll love. Set between the airport and the city’s Old Town, it offers you the best of both worlds. Sitting along the main road, getting around was effortless for us. Just a 10-minute stroll already brought us to Srebreno Bay and its sparkling pebble beaches. Moreover, the 24-hour reception made everything easy, from booking a shuttle to Dubrovnik to arranging an adventure-filled day in Konavle.
For our stay, we got one of the suites. It was all clean lines, pale greys, and oak floors. We had a private balcony, a queen-sized bed that made us sleep like babies, and must-haves like loose green tea, Cogito coffee, and Malin+Goetz toiletries. The hotel had clearly thought of everything, from the beach towels and yoga mat waiting in our room to the huge fridge (stocked temptingly with drinks).
One of our favorite spots was Lokal, the hotel’s laid-back bar that spills out onto a lawn. We would sip cocktails there before heading up to the rooftop infinity pool, where the wooden deck and five sunbeds offered front-row seats to sunset views. The pool stays open to everyone until 8 PM, but we booked a private evening swim. It was just us, the stars, and the still water.

Maistra Select Mlini Hotel
4
We spent a few days at Maistra Select Hotel Mlini, tucked away in the peaceful village of Mlini, just a short hop south of Dubrovnik. The setting couldn’t be more idyllic, with Srebreno Bay curves gently around a line of fine-pebble beaches. We loved the location a lot, as we were able to explore tons of charming places, like old stone cottages, a tiny church, and a harbor.
Just in front of the hotel, there’s a cozy pizzeria with a terrace, perfect for an afternoon pizza and a glass of chilled white wine. Below it, we found a stone platform that led straight into the Adriatic. It was so clear and calm that we couldn’t resist a swim every morning. You don’t always have to venture out, though. On the property, you’ll find Agava, the on-site restaurant that serves both local and international menus. Whatever you order, pair it with Croatian wines!
Meanwhile, our room at Mlini was spotless and soothing, with minimalist wooden furniture and a soft, neutral palette. The glass-fronted balcony was the real highlight, especially if you spring for the sea view. We truly enjoyed our stay at Mlini through and through!

Boutique Hotel Stari Grad
3
Set in Dubrovnik’s car-free Old Town, Boutique Hotel Stari Grad is easily one of our favorites. From the hotel, everything is within easy reach. From the Pile Gate and city walls to hip cafes and shops, we were able to explore the Old Town without breaking a sweat. Even Banje Beach, with its glittering Adriatic views, was just a short stroll away.
Like many other boutique hotels in Dubrovnik, the staff here were so friendly. They even helped us plan a couple of day trips beyond the city walls. Dinner at the hotel’s Above 5 restaurant was another highlight. The waiters didn’t just serve food but also explained what we were eating. And when we wanted to unwind, the Icona Thai Spa across the alley was exactly what we were craving for.
We stayed in the Junior Suite with a balcony, and it was the best accommodation we could’ve asked for. We even had a bottle of wine waiting for us! Of course, the MVP of our suite is the balcony. Complete with a table and sofa, we would spend our mornings sipping tea and coffee there. The views? Breathtaking!

Boutique Hotel Kazbek
2
Best Eco-Friendly. Boutique Hotel Kazbek is one of the most popular hotels in Dubrovnik, and for good reasons. First of all, it’s set right on the seafront of Gruz Bay. It’s just a 10-minute drive from the Old Town, close enough to dive into the city’s charm, so we never had to spend too much time on the road. The staff even offered to help us arrange car rentals. Much appreciated!
We were also pleased with our room. It boasts exposed wooden beams, antique details, and even a coat of arms from old Dubrovnik ancestry. Every room is uniquely decorated, which makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere truly special. And when it came to dining, we were blown away by their gourmet restaurant. Every dish showcased fresh, local ingredients.
But the highlight of this boutique hotel, though, is the dedication to sustainability. It’s not just a mere catchphrase or gimmick. From eco-pump bath amenities and sustainably crafted furniture to the free charging station for electric cars, Hotel Kazbek takes its green mission seriously. If you’re looking for a spot that balances luxury and conscience, this boutique gem by the bay is absolutely worth it.
“If you care about sustainability, staying at this hotel is a no-brainer.”

St. Joseph’s
1
Best Location. There are tons of amazing boutique hotels in Dubrovnik, but when it comes to location, nothing can hold a candle to St. Joseph’s. Set in the very heart of Old Town, it’s extremely tranquil. During our stay, there were no cars or chaos. Everything we wanted to see was within a short walk: the main sights, cozy cafes, and the sparkling Banje Beach just outside the city walls.
What truly makes St. Joseph’s shine, though, is the family who runs it. When we first arrived, we were greeted with smiles. The owners are locals who spent years in London, so they know the exact formula that balances hospitality and heartfelt warmth. They filled us in on the best local restaurants, shared stories about Croatian traditions, and helped us organize a private boat trip along the coast.
And then there’s the indulgence of staying here itself. Our suite was the perfect blend of old and new, featuring wooden floors, exposed stone walls, and romantic chandeliers. After a good night’s sleep, we would kick off our morning with the hotel’s made-to-order breakfast, delivered right to our room. We were served an organic green smoothie, a platter of perfectly sliced fruit, flaky croissants, homemade cakes, and little filo-pastry pies, all paired with strong Turkish coffee. Flawless!

Where to Stay in Dubrovnik
Trust us; staying in the Old Town is an experience like no other. This UNESCO World Heritage site places you right in the middle of the city’s famous medieval walls, with centuries-old architecture, marble streets, and lively squares just steps from your door. You’ll be surrounded by top attractions like Stradun, Rector’s Palace, and the City Walls, plus plenty of charming cafes, wine bars, and boutique hotels tucked into ancient stone buildings.
For travelers seeking luxury, sea views, and a quieter setting without sacrificing proximity to the main sights, Ploče is an excellent choice. Located just east of the Old Town, it’s an easy walk to the city walls while offering a more peaceful environment. You’ll also have easy access to popular beaches like Banje and Sveti Jakov. Prices tend to be higher here, but the elegance and scenery make it well worth it.
If you’re looking for a more relaxed and affordable stay, head to Lapad, a leafy peninsula about 10 to 15 minutes by bus from the Old Town. This area offers a mix of modern hotels, family-friendly resorts, and self-catering apartments, making it ideal for longer stays. Lapad’s seafront promenade is lined with restaurants and cafes, and its beaches are some of the most accessible in Dubrovnik. It’s quieter and less touristy than the Old Town, but still offers everything you need within walking distance.
Should I stay in Lapad or Old Town, Dubrovnik?
Stay in Lapad if you want a quieter, more relaxed vibe with beaches and better value for money. Choose the Old Town if you prefer being in the heart of the action, surrounded by history and attractions.
How many days do you need in Dubrovnik?
You’ll need about 2 to 3 days in Dubrovnik to explore the Old Town, walk the city walls, and enjoy a beach or island trip. If you have more time, 4 to 5 days lets you add day trips to places like Kotor or Mostar for a fuller Adriatic experience.
Is there Uber in Dubrovnik?
Yes, Uber operates in Dubrovnik. It’s a convenient and often cheaper alternative to taxis, especially for airport transfers and trips outside the Old Town.
