Let’s start with La Vista Suites, the kind of place for travelers looking for a bit of extra space to unwind. The place feels fresh and modern, with apartment-style suites that feel like home. We especially loved that many units come with balconies. It was hard to beat sipping a drink while the sea breeze rolled through!
Being right on the beach was a huge deal for us. We could go from our room to the water in minutes, and when we felt like switching things up, the seasonal outdoor pool was waiting for a lazy dip. And since the pool is on the rooftop, you can take in the surrounding views for as long as you want.

If you’re craving a peaceful stay by the water, Hotel Delfin is the place to be. We loved how calm and relaxed it was, even though Zadar’s Old Town is only about a 10-minute drive away. Getting around was easy, too. Buses stop right outside the hotel, so we could dip into the city whenever we felt like it.
One of our favorite things about Hotel Delfin was how close it sits to the beach. After a swim, we spent time unwinding in the spa area, which has a sauna and a jacuzzi. There’s also a gym if you’re feeling energetic, but let’s be honest: the real star here is the sun deck. Watching the sky turn pink and orange while soaking in the jacuzzi was hands-down one of the best sunset experiences we had in Zadar.
Our room was bright, breezy, and very “coastal cool.” Most of the rooms face the sea, and waking up to that view, especially as the sun started to dip in the evening, was a highlight of our stay. We really liked how Teatro Verdi Boutique Hotel mixes a bit of history with a clean, modern feel. It’s inspired by the old Teatro Giuseppe Verdi, which used to be a major theater in the area. The location was a huge plus for us as well. The Old Town was right outside the door, and we could walk everywhere, from sights to restaurants and bars. It was also convenient that the hotel offers shuttles to the nearby national parks.
The terrace quickly became one of our go-to spots, especially for a casual drink. It’s calm, green, and a nice contrast to the busy streets nearby. Breakfast was solid and easy. It was a mix of continental and à la carte options, with fresh pastries made daily. We also liked having the option to order room service when we wanted a quieter morning or evening in.
We booked the Superior King Room and found it very comfortable. The room was quiet and well soundproofed. We were provided with bathrobes, slippers, and good toiletries, too. Furthermore, the must-haves like the minibar, coffee and tea setup, and flat-screen TV made our stay even more amazing.

Up next, we have Hotel Niko. This is a family-run hotel located about a 10-minute drive from the city center. Thanks to this, we could explore the Old Town without staying right in the middle of the crowds. The beach is only a short walk away, too, so it worked well for days when we wanted to slow down and relax by the water.

Our room had a more traditional, slightly old-fashioned style, but it was clean, well-kept, and had all the modern amenities we needed. Our room was spacious, cool, and well-equipped for a longer stay. Most Romantic. Calling all lovebirds! The charming Almayer Art & Heritage Hotel sits on the site of a former monastery and dates back to 1863. Plus, it’s a small, adults-only boutique hotel, so we’re sure you can already imagine how sweet your stay will be if you choose this hotel. Having an art gallery on site also sets it apart from the usual heritage hotels.
The rooms are split between two historic buildings. The main hotel has nine simple, understated rooms in what used to be a military hospital, while the neighboring house from 1914 adds seven more rooms with deeper green and teal tones. We stayed in one of the suites and really liked how art is woven into the space, especially the striking oil painting by German artist Carsten Weck.
One thing we all kept coming back to was the courtyard. It’s surprisingly peaceful for such a central location and ended up being where we spent most of our downtime. There’s a café-restaurant tucked into the courtyard serving creative Mediterranean dishes along with an excellent wine list, which made it an easy choice for a romantic dinner.

Staying at Art Hotel Kalelarga will drop you right into the rhythm of Zadar’s Old Town. Being set directly on Kalelarga, the city’s most famous street, we could step outside and instantly feel the energy of the city. Wandering stone streets, popping into cafés, and soaking up the buzz of daily life was never a challenge, and we never once needed a plan to enjoy ourselves.
With just 10 rooms, it has that intimate boutique vibe that makes a stay feel special. Everything is sleek, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, and we couldn’t help splurge on the top-floor suite. We had our own private terrace jacuzzi overlooking the Old Town!
And let’s talk about food. People say you should eat where locals eat, and it applies here. The hotel’s restaurant is genuinely popular with locals, which is always a great sign. We loved that we didn’t have to wander far for an excellent meal, as some of the best flavors in town were literally downstairs.

Best for Families. If you want to bring your kids along, stay at Falkensteiner Family Hotel Diadora. This is the best place for your kids to have their beach vacation. The hotel is newly renovated, feels modern, and has the polished look you would expect from a five-star property.
Where this hotel really shines is the number of activities available. There are indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, gym, tennis courts, and even softball areas for adults, while kids have their own world to explore. Our children loved Falkyland, the arcade, climbing wall, cinema, and swimming pools, especially the free swimming lessons.
Our room was comfortable and well designed for families, with reliable Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, a minibar, and plenty of space to relax. That said, the family rooms are worth booking. They’re designed for two adults and up to two children under 12, and don’t feel tight. Meals were buffet-style with a mix of Mediterranean and international dishes, so everyone could find something they liked. We also appreciated that wine and beer were included during meals.

Fun fact: The Hyatt Regency Zadar is Croatia’s first Hyatt Regency, which opened in May 2025. Though still brand new, it has made quite a name for itself. This hotel may be your favorite choice, especially if you want a central location. It’s about a 12-minute walk to the footbridge that takes you straight into the Old Town peninsula. From there, it’s easy to explore Zadar’s mix of Roman ruins, Venetian buildings, and Byzantine influences.
First impressions were great thanks to the staff, who were friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming from check-in onward. We also loved the pool area, mostly because outdoor pools are rare for city-center luxury hotels in Zadar. The main pool sits on a large terrace shared with the Palm House, with plenty of tables, loungers, and an upper level with even more sunbeds. What’s more, you can swim straight into the Lavanda Spa’s indoor pool. Inside, there’s also a whirlpool, relaxation area, large sauna, hammam, hot tub, cold plunge pools, treatment rooms, and a fitness center.
The rooms are modern and comfortable, as expected from Hyatt. There are 133 rooms in total, including 23 suites, decorated in calm grey and camel tones with green leather chairs, rugs, marble tables, and parquet floors. Most rooms have sea views, either in the historic 1911 building or in the newer rooms overlooking the pool terrace.

Best for History Geeks. The Bastion Heritage Hotel is built on the remains of a 13th-century fortress, right inside the Old Town walls. This fact alone promises you’ll have a blast staying here. As you can imagine, this hotel has a lot of character without feeling old. On top of that, this boutique hotel has only 27 rooms in total, so it feels calm and personal.
The interiors lean into the building’s history with exposed stone walls and classic furniture, but everything feels polished and comfortable. There’s a spa and wellness area on site with a sauna, hot tub, and relaxation space, plus you can book massages if you want to fully switch off. We also enjoyed stopping by the Kristal aperitif bar for a casual drink or coffee.
The biggest selling point, though, at least for us, was the homelike feel for such a high-end place. We booked the Luxury Suite, and everything was very clean. The highlight was definitely the outdoor hot tub with views over the surrounding area, which ended up being our favorite part of the stay and our go-to spot for sipping a glass of cocktail or two.

Expect good massages, a Turkish hammam, and a calm space to unwind.
Dining was easy and flexible, which we appreciated. The on-site restaurants, lounges, and beach huts serve Alpine-Adriatic dishes, so there’s enough variety to keep things interesting. It worked well for us and would be especially convenient for families. If staying active matters to you, this hotel delivers. There are seven tennis courts, multiple multi-sports courts, padel courts, beach volleyball, and more. There’s no shortage of ways to stay busy between meals and spa time.
We stayed in the Superior Double Room, which came with the standard essentials like air conditioning, free WiFi, a minibar, a flat-screen TV, and a work desk.
