Where to Stay in Dubrovnik, Croatia
In recent years, Dubrovnik has earned a reputation as one of the world’s most in-demand destinations. Partly thanks to the popularity of the medieval-themed series “Game of Thrones.” Considered one of the top most impressive walled cities, this city in southern Croatia oozes an unmatched gothic aura.
Looking for a nice hotel in the city won’t be a complicated task, although it still requires careful thought. As usual, always consider your goals and budget. For example, if you’re a first-time visitor, stay alongside the Old Town area. It’s close to the major sights and the Adriatic. Almost every turn is attractive, with dozens of medieval and gothic architecture scattered around. During our visit, we found most of our list of top things to do in Dubrovnik in this area. Better yet, finding accommodation in Dubrovnik Old Town was a breeze for us as some of the city’s top options are here.
Meanwhile, sprinkled with lively bars near the ship port is an area known as Gruz. This district would be a great place to go out at night. After visiting this area, we highly recommend you check it out. It was where we enjoyed beers and wines while cherishing the sparkling Adriatic Ocean. It’s the perfect spot for those who want the nightlife.
The Lapad area can also be a great alternative, as it has some atmospheric cave bars near Uvala Lapad beach. Some are referenced frequently in many Croatia travel guides. Furthermore, Ploce or Pile would be ideal for a family vacation. Both quarters are within steps of all the hot spots in Old Town but away from the buzzing crowds. The gravel beaches with the calm waters nearby will make for a great place to spend the entire menage. There’s also easy access to some family-friendly five-star comforts. If you’re coming with your loved ones, we highly recommend looking for a hotel near one of these areas.
Is it expensive in Dubrovnik?
Compared to other cities in Croatia, Dubrovnik is more expensive. We roughly spent almost 200 EUR (220 USD) per day during our trip. But depending on how you commute, what you eat, and how you spend the entire day, you can spend 70 to 230 EUR (77 – 253 USD) a day.
Are four nights enough in Dubrovnik?
Yes, four nights should be enough in the city. We spent five nights in the city and had more than enough time to explore the must-visit spots, enjoy the beautiful beach, visit the islands, and try out some local wineries.
Is Dubrovnik a walkable city?
Don’t worry; Dubrovnik is pedestrian-friendly. We were able to walk around the city safely, Not to mention the bus network covers almost all of the city’s areas.
