Clarion Hotel Seekonk-Providence

We start with the Clarion Hotel Seekonk-Providence, which lies just off I-195 in Seekonk, around 10 minutes from the heart of Providence. Due to its position right on the Massachusetts-Rhode Island birder, we had fabulous access to all popular attractions in the region, including Roger Williams Park and Zoo in Seekonk and Providence downtown.
Of course, the top draw here was the indoor heated pool, which was a great place to relax after a long day of exploring the region. With massive floor-to-ceiling windows on three walls, it offered great views of the surroundings. In fact, it not only had daybeds by the side where we could relax after a swim but even chairs and tables for enjoying a bite. The same setup was there in the picnic area, which allowed us to enjoy a meal and experience the gorgeous surroundings. Our days began with free hot breakfasts and ended at the lovely indoor pool area.
The rooms and suites at Clarion are no less amazing, with HDTVs, coffeemakers, and even microwaves, fridges, whirlpools, and wet bars in some rooms, like our one-bedroom suite.

We wanted to stay in a reliable chain hotel away from the bustle of the city but close enough to it too. That’s why we loved the SpringHill Suites Providence West Warwick, which sits at the junction of Route 2 and I-95, just south of Providence. We especially loved the amenities at this Springhill Suites hotel, particularly the indoor pool. So, even when we went during the fall, we were able to use the pool area even when there was a nip in the air. What was even better was that there was a whirlpool in the corner, so we even enjoyed a languorous soak after a swim.
The rest of the amenities were no less great, especially the fitness facilities and laundry facilities, which appealed immensely to us since we were staying for a longer time. Despite there being no restaurant onsite, we’d be treated to a hearty breakfast buffet every day. Plus, we could even order food to the room from restaurants nearby.
Rooms, or rather suites, at SpringHill Suites offered free Wi-Fi, seating areas, flatscreen TVs, and even pantry areas with small fridges, microwave ovens, and tea/coffeemakers.

Besides free Wi-Fi throughout the property, the hotel even offered us a complimentary American breakfast to start our day on a high note.

And thanks to the Hilton Garden Inn Providence Airport/Warwick, our stay near Providence airport went just how we wanted. Located less than five minutes from the airport, it was the perfect last night stay during our Providence sojourn.

This is thanks to the wall of windows, which overlooked the rest of the open-design property. We had a great time enjoying a languorous swim after a long day of exploring the city, followed by a rest on the daybeds and chairs right next to the pool. Other amenities like the fitness center, business center, and 24-hour snack store made our stay very convenient here. That said, the presence of the Iron Works Tavern on the property was fabulous, as it served not just breakfast but also lunches and dinners and even had a full bar!

Largest indoor pool. We were thrilled by the sheer size of the indoor pool area of the Residence Inn by Marriott Providence Lincoln. In fact, it might just be the largest indoor pool area in the Providence region! The massive indoor pool area sits in a structure separate from the main hotel. What’s more, it boasted huge walls of windows on all sides, which allowed us to soak in the gorgeous open views around. Where to Stay in Providence?
With Providence being one of the oldest cities in the United States, it’s no surprise that the best place for first-timers to stay in the city is the historic downtown district. The neighborhood is bursting with tons of attractions, including beautifully public parks and impeccably preserved architecture. What’s more, it’s also easily walkable, and many hotels around offer complimentary bicycle rentals to explore the neighborhood.
Secondly, there’s the sprawling, family-friendly Roger Williams Park. This iconic outdoor space not only has a planetarium and a museum but also a botanical center and a zoo. Culture vultures like us will love the theater district, which is all about culture, arts, and historic preservation, and is centered around the famed Providence Performing Arts Center.

Recommended Restaurants / Bars in Providence
- Al Forno: Since 1980, this old-timer has been making Providence’s famous grilled pizza, especially the simple margarita, which is a very popular choice. However, we didn’t stop there, especially since they’re also known for their rustic Italy-meets-New-England food, right from cheesy baked pasta and pork chops to wood-grilled ribeyes. Be sure to plan ahead, as these guys are always full, including prior reservations.
- Bellini: The fine dining restaurant of the luxe Beatrice Hotel is named for the 1940s cocktail that originated in restaurateur Ignazio Cipriani’s great-grandfather’s Venice bar. This Bellini’s sparkling Prosecco-like Art Deco interior did us in, and it serves a delicious modern take on Italian favorites like crudo tasting and grilled lamb chops.
