Renting a villa in Mykonos, Greece, is a popular choice for those who want to enjoy a luxurious, private vacation experience on this beautiful island – which is our cup of tea. With different areas to choose from, each with its own character, choosing our villa location was key. Since we prefer a more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, we chose villas in areas like Agios Stefanos or Ornos. However, if you like to be close to the action, opt for a villa in Mykonos Town (Chora), known for its nightlife, shopping, and dining.
Villas come in various sizes and styles, from cozy one-bedroom homes to sprawling mansions that can accommodate large groups. Be sure to consider the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as any additional amenities like a private pool, outdoor living spaces, or a fully-equipped kitchen.
Before we start with our top selection, it’s best to note that Mykonos is a popular destination, especially during the summer months (June through September). If you want to secure your dream villa, it’s best to book well in advance.

Things You May Need During Your Stay
- Sweater or light jacket – Mykonos has a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny summers and mild, rainy winters. You may need to mind the Meltemi winds, which locals call a natural air-conditioner. So, you should prepare to bring a sweater or light jacket to avoid catching a chill in the evening.
- Driver’s license – The island has a shortage of taxis, which leads you to wait several hours to get on. If you plan to get around in Mykonos, don’t forget to bring your driver’s license. We advise you to rent a car or quad bike to get around the island easily. Read more info on using your US driver’s license in Greece here.
- Mosquito repellent – Bring mosquito repellent in your bag at all times to avoid annoying and unsightly bites. You may spend time at the beach after the sun has set, so it’s better to prepare the little buggers by wearing the repellent.
