An uncommonly eco-friendly hostel
Calling all eco-conscious explorers and outdoor enthusiasts! The Crash Pad isn’t your average hostel. While there may be many amazing hostels in Chattanooga TN, it will always remain exceptional. What makes this hostel so amazingly special is the fact that it’s the first hostel in the whole wide world to earn the LEED Platinum certification. What is that, you asked?
In summary, LEED is a top-tier certification for world-leading sustainable buildings that prioritize energy savings and overall environmental quality. It’s a globally recognized badge of excellence in green building operations and designs. This puts the hostel in the same category as other big hotels like Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, ITC Maratha, and many more. This gem offers not only a stylish but also a sustainable home base for your Chattanooga escapades. The funny thing was we didn’t know about this fact until we stayed there.

A superb stay in the super bunk room
Whether you’re a lone wolf or traveling with a pack, The Crash Pad Chattanooga TN has the perfect accommodations. For a more communal experience, we decided to go with the Super Bunk Room. It’s outfitted with one-of-a-kind, handcrafted wooden bunk beds designed exclusively by Haskel Sears Design. These are no ordinary bunk beds. We’ve stayed in many hostels, and compared to the rest, the quality of these bunk beds is probably the best.
Not to mention, every top and bottom bunk has a privacy curtain. We loved this addition as it gave us some added privacy. Furthermore, each of our beds came with a fan and reading light. Charging our phones was also made easy thanks to the two electrical outlets placed next to each mattress. Best of all, spacious storage lockers are incorporated below each bunk bed, giving ample room for your stuff.

Private rooms for private travelers
In addition to the bunk rooms, The Crash Pad Chattanooga also offers private rooms for added privacy. Some come with a queen bed, which is large enough to sleep either one or two adults. While we didn’t sleep there, we were told it was big enough to accommodate a rollaway cot, too. Beyond sleeping accommodations, the private rooms have other notable features including a custom vanity sink as well as huge windows that allow sunshine to stream in.
Besides that, there’s also a private room with a twin bunk. It’s similar to the rest private rooms. However, as the name suggests, instead of a queen bed, it comes with a twin bunk. For privacy, you can’t go wrong with either. Both aren’t only designed with sleeping capacity for traveling groups in mind but also with maximum comfort to enhance the guests’ time spent in the rooms.

Thoughtfully designed common areas
Another thing that made our stay enjoyable was the well-maintained common areas. First, the bathroom was impeccably clean. It reminded us of the bathrooms in commercial gyms. It didn’t smell weird and the floor wasn’t slippery at all. Additionally, we also loved to use the fully-equipped kitchen. While we loved to venture out and explore the cafes and restaurants, there were times when we craved comfort food, too. Thankfully, the kitchen had everything we needed. It’s also a great place to meet new people and swap stories (as well as recipes).
Perhaps the most shocking amenity on the property is the addition of iMacs. Yep; as you can see from the picture below, there’s a dedicated area at the hostel where digital nomads can finish their work comfortably before exploring Chattanooga. Paired with the free Wi-Fi, this hostel is flawless. Oh, and by the way, based on our experience, the Wi-Fi is extremely fast. Yes!

Location and adventures
Now, where is this hostel located exactly? Nestled in the vibrant Southside Historic District, this hostel puts you steps away from Station Street’s buzzing nightlife, trendy restaurants, and the lively Chattanooga Market. We spent three nights at the hostel and every day was filled with something new to see and do. We particularly loved going to the State of Confusion. With industrial interiors and thousands of glowing reviews, this place is a must-visit. The breakfast burrito tasted so good, so make sure to order that. Best of all, it took us only a five-minute walk to reach the restaurant!
“The location of this hostel couldn’t get any better. Whether it was food or fun we were looking for, we didn’t have to travel far.”
