Villa Don Juan‘s greatest asset is undoubtedly its favorable location in San Sebastian. And honestly, it was the main reason why we chose to stay there. For instance, we were able to reach Ondarreta Beach in just a few steps. We’re not kidding! The beach, popular for surfing and sunbathing, is literally a stone’s throw away from the villa. When we went there, it was far from crowded and there were some pets, too. Apart from that, the equally enchanting Peine del Viento Sculptures are a swift half-mile away, providing travelers with Instagram-worthy backdrops.
Besides its prime location, this villa also serves as your home away from home. With five spacious bedrooms, it can comfortably accommodate large groups and families. The beds were plush, and there was never a day where we couldn’t sleep. After making our own meals in the kitchen, we would enjoy them on our private terrace while marveling at the gorgeous sea views. While we appreciated the flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi, who needed screens when you have such spectacular scenery right outside?

Villa Favorita

Enjoy La Concha, the city’s brightest gem
I’m not kidding; Villa Favorita San Sebastian may have the best location compared to other villas in San Sebastian. First of all, this place is literally on the doorstep of La Concha Beach, one of San Sebastian’s biggest icons and attractions. Often featured in various magazines, the beach is only a stone’s throw away. Better yet, we could enjoy the views of the sand and the ocean breeze from our room.
Aside from its favorable distance to the beach, this hotel is also only a short distance away from the train station, so you’ll never have to worry about transport. On top of that, the city’s top shops and restaurants are a mere stroll away. There are plenty of things to see and do to keep you busy throughout your stay.

The hotel breathes elegance and sophistication
It goes without saying that this beautiful boutique hotel has a sophisticated and elegant ambiance. It’s decorated in a classic style with modern accents. When we first stepped inside, we were immediately awestruck by its lobby. The murals decorated the walls, and of course, we took a lot of pictures. Fun fact: the building was built back in 1866 and the murals were all hand-painted by Paul Christopher McKenna, a skilled decorative painter from Madrid. With vintage furniture and brassy details, it reminded us of an old mansion.

Rooms with gorgeous views of the sea
The rooms and suites are more on the minimalist side. They’re not heavily decorated, but who needs that when the views of La Concha Beach are there? We stayed at the Junior Suite, and we enjoyed it a lot. Decorated in white, the suite offered us everything we needed, from a spacious living room to a spotless bathroom with premium toiletries.
In the morning, we would always spend our time on the terrace. We would make a cup of coffee using the suite’s coffee machine and sit there enjoying the morning breeze and the coffee. It also allowed us to see whether the beach was crowded or not. Speaking of which, you don’t have to worry about noise as all rooms are soundproofed.

Pampering and serenity at La Perla
Experience the ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation at La Perla, the hotel’s beauty paradise. Don’t get us wrong, exploring San Sebastian was fun, but it was also tiring at times. Thankfully, the hotel staff told us to give the on-site spa a visit. This wellness sanctuary is bright, well-designed, and most importantly, clean. The expertly trained therapists were friendly to us and guided us through their spa menus in detail.
After considering all of the treatments, we went with the Healthy Ritual as the therapists told us it was great for relieving back pain, which was inevitable because of those long hours on the plane. The treatment was so good that one and a half hours felt like 30 minutes. We had a hot mud wrap on our back, and the craniofacial massage was out of this world. I highly recommend trying this treatment out.

The amazing on-site bar and restaurant
One of our favorite ways to end our day was by sipping a glass of wine at the bar. Yep; the hotel boasts a cute, little bar where guests can make new friends and sample its special wine and cocktail menu. We loved the overall ambiance of the bar. It wasn’t noisy at all. In fact, it was pretty chillax and made the perfect place for us to reminisce about the fun we had during the day and plan what else to do for the following day.
If you’re not familiar with the drinks, relax. That’s because the bar’s expert staff will be there for you to help choose the best drink according to your preferences and style. Let them surprise you! In addition to the bar, the hotel also boasts Amelia by Paulo Airaudo, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant. Of course, savoring the food at this restaurant is a must. We not only went there for breakfast but also lunch and dinner, and though the menus were pricey, we didn’t mind at all as they were that good.
