If there’s one thing we’ve learned from traveling, it’s that location and vibe can make or break a stay. That said, the Waikiki Marriott Resort Hotel delivers both in spades. We had read positive reviews about the hotel before our stay, and everything people said turned out to be true. This hotel gave us more than just beachfront perks. It offered a warm welcome and exceeded our expectations. Sunsets, surf, and a slice of tropical luxury—you name it. If you’re looking for a place that’s just as welcoming to families as it is to solo adventurers or couples chasing sunsets, keep reading. We’ve got stories, tips, and a few surprises to share.

Close to the Action
Tucked along the east end of Waikiki Beach, the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa is close enough to the action but just far enough to give you a bit of breathing room. Our room faced west, which meant we were treated to stunning sunset views each evening, but if you want a glimpse of Diamond Head, it’s just a few minutes’ walk down the beach.
You’re also just steps away from some of Waikiki’s top attractions. We walked to the Honolulu Zoo one morning (the kids loved it), and another night, we caught some live music at the Waikiki Shell amphitheater. Food and shopping? Endless. From poke bowls to boutique shopping to our must-have burger at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, everything was walkable. We even found a little taste of Australia at the nearby Gelatissimo.

Not Your Regular Suite
We’ve stayed in our fair share of hotel rooms over the years, but the Corner King Suite at Waikiki Beach Marriott honestly left us speechless. When we opened the door, our jaws immediately dropped. The room is massive. Like, roll-out-a-yoga-mat-and-still-have-space massive. And if you’ve ever traveled with sandy kids or wet swimsuits, you’ll appreciate the extra room to breathe and dry out. It’s clearly designed with beachgoers in mind.
What really stole the show, though, were the two private balconies. One looked straight out to the ocean and had a lounger where we spent most mornings with coffee and evenings with cocktails. The other gave us sweeping views westward, perfect for sunset dinners or just winding down. The in-room amenities were solid, too. We’re talking about a coffee machine, tea, a hair dryer, an iron, a fridge, a safe, and an ice machine just down the hall. We were on the 20th floor of the Paoakalani Tower, and the higher floor makes a big difference when it comes to soaking in those views.

Diverse Dining
The food scene at Waikiki Beach Marriott is surprisingly diverse, with a little something for everyone. Of course, there’s a Starbucks in the lobby for your caffeine fix, but we found ourselves gravitating toward Queensbreak Restaurant near the pool. We tried it for lunch and again during dinner, and both times, it was a whole vibe. There’s a reduced menu by the pool if you don’t want to leave your lounger, and plenty of shaded spots to relax if you’ve got kids running around.
Furthermore, we also loved the laid-back entertainment. The live music was great, and we loved the tropical energy that matched the setting. We ordered the half rack of ribs with mango BBQ glaze, citrus slaw, and furikake mac and potato salad, and they were absolutely delicious. The cocktails were generous, and the outdoor patio made us want to linger long after the plates were cleared.

Two Cool Pools
There are two main pools at Waikiki Beach Marriott, and we liked having that separation between adults and families. The adult pool is quieter and includes a hot tub. The family pool was where our crew spent most of their time, though, especially with the option to rent a cabana and settle in for a whole day.
A short walk from the family pool leads to an elevated sun deck overlooking the boulevard and beach, and this became our go-to spot in the evenings. The fire pits light up after dark, creating a cozy social hub where people hung out with drinks and swapped stories about their day’s adventures. It’s a small detail, but it really elevated the resort experience.

Other Amenities
The Waikiki Beach Marriott is packed with activities, and some are free. We joined a few of the free ones like the food tastings (shave ice, poke, and Mai Tai demos at Queensbreak), and they were honestly so fun. We especially enjoyed the fire dance, which the kids are still talking about. If you want a photo with the dancer afterward, there’s a small fee, but it’s worth it for the memory. There are also occasional swim-up movies.
That’s not all! The terrace near the pool has games like foosball and shuffleboard, and they kept the kids occupied when we weren’t at the beach. The gym, by the pool, was well-equipped and got busy early. If you don’t mind paying, you can also attend classes like yoga, tai chi, hula, lei-making, and painting.
“This hotel sure knew how to put on a show. The fire dance was especially mesmerizing!”

Conclusion
So, what’s our verdict? The Waikiki Marriott Beach Hotel is a fantastic choice if you want a little bit of everything. Here, you’ll get comfort, convenience, space, and ocean views without giving up the fun and energy that Waikiki is known for. The Corner King Suite alone is worth the stay if you can swing it, and while there are a few extra fees we wish were more inclusive, the overall experience was totally worth it. We left feeling refreshed and relaxed. If you’re thinking about staying here, do it. Just make sure to catch the sunset from your balcony at least once! You won’t forget it.
