Known for its pink accents here and there, the O2 Beach Club & Spa on Barbados’ south coast may rank high on your list. It’s an all-suite, 130-key resort, but it still manages to feel small and easy to navigate, which we appreciated. Even though it sits on a busy stretch of beach, the property never felt too crowded, with plenty of space to enjoy that long, beautiful strip of sand.
Food and drinks were a clear highlight for us. With five restaurants and seven bars, we were spoiled for options. We liked that we could try out different things without ever leaving this gorgeous resort. When we did want to explore, the resort’s “culinary concierge” came in clutch, pointing us to local spots we wouldn’t have found on our own and helping us plan a couple of really good meals off-site.

As some of you might’ve guessed, Calabash Hotel is named after the calabash tree, which we kept spotting around the island. The hotel is made up of 30 suites arranged in a neat horseshoe around landscaped gardens. Breakfast showed up each morning on our patio (or on the beach if we felt like a change of scenery), which was the best way to start the day. Some suites even have plunge pools.
We spent most of our days either on the beach or doing water activities, all of which were included: windsurfers, paddleboards, snorkel gear, and even little sailboats. We had always heard that St. Vincent was a bit harder to reach than some of the more familiar Caribbean spots, so we were curious to see what the new Sandals St. Vincent was all about. Once we arrived, it was clear why people were excited for this opening. The resort is big, with over 300 rooms, but it still feels fresh and noticeably more upscale than a lot of other Sandals properties.
We were lucky as we got to take a look at one of the overwater villas. They’re on another level! Each one has a rooftop lounge, outdoor shower, soaking tub, and butler service. No wonder they’re considered the standout rooms here. Even our room, which wasn’t one of the top-tier options, felt modern and well-equipped, so we never felt like we were missing out.
What surprised us most was how much the resort leans into the local culture. One of our favorite meals was at Buccan, which highlights traditional cooking methods rather than the usual all-inclusive buffet approach. And the activities weren’t just the typical resort fare, as there were plenty of chances to actually get out and see the island.

Best Private Island. Ambergris Cay, a private island resort, gave us the stay and service that we never knew we needed! As soon as we landed in Providenciales, someone greeted us, handled the transfer, and put us on the quick 20-minute flight to the island’s private airstrip. What stood out right away was the relaxed vibe. It’s definitely upscale, but too formal. Everything was effortless, personal, and comfortable.
Our Beachfront Bungalow with a Private Pool ended up being a great choice. The room had everything we needed, from air-conditioning and a mini-bar to a balcony and a private pool, which was a solid bonus for when we didn’t feel like going to the beach. Plus, with only a handful of bungalows and villas spread around the island, it was never too crowded. We could walk the beach, hop on a golf cart, or just hang out by the pool without running into crowds.

We were excited to return to Curtain Bluff, especially after hearing about its full renovation, and the update really shows. The entire property feels refreshed. Think clean lines, modern touches, and plenty of space to relax. Every room has an ocean view, which we loved, and some are so close to the beach that you can walk out and be on the sand in seconds.
One of the biggest upgrades is the new multi-level spa and wellness area. We ended up spending more time there than expected because it’s genuinely easy to navigate, calm, and packed with options. We were surprised by how easy it was to reach Blue Waters Resort and Spa. It only took us about a 15-minute drive from the airport. The resort screams Caribbean in the most perfect way. Aside from being surrounded by beaches, our room had plenty of space, and many of the villas around us sat higher up, so sea views were kind of the norm here.
Most of our days were spent bouncing between the pool, the beach, and whatever activity caught our eye. The resort includes things like paddleboarding, kayaking, tennis, and a solid fitness center, so we never ran out of options. Golfers will appreciate that an 18-hole course is just a short drive away. Food ended up being a highlight, too. With three restaurants, we could switch things up easily.
One of our most memorable moments was the spa session. The setting alone made it worth it, as some of the rooms open right toward the water, which is a pretty great backdrop for a massage. And if you want the top-tier experience, Rock Cottage is the place everyone talks about. It’s a four-bedroom villa set on its own bluff, close to everything but still very private.

Best Beachfront. We knew we were in good hands at Carlisle Bay the second we were in our fabulous suite. The space was calm, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with a big daybed on the balcony and a Gaggia machine that became part of our morning routine. To top it all, we were treated to a beautiful ocean view.
Meals were also a highlight at this beachfront hotel, mostly because there was always something different to try. Indigo on the Beach kept things relaxed with fresh grills and seafood, while East delivered great Asian dishes in a sleek setting. Ottimo! was also our casual favorite thanks to the wood-fired pizzas, and The Jetty Grill was ideal for a quiet adults-only lunch steps from the water. With three bars around the property, we never went far for a drink.
When we weren’t eating or lounging, there was plenty to do. The spa had everything from plunge pools to a chill-out zone, and the fitness offerings kept us moving. We tried a couple of the watersports, too, and a guided rainforest walk that started right from the beach. Families seemed especially happy here, as the kids’ clubs were busy and well run, with tons of space for little ones to explore.

Best New Resort. The only mistake we made was staying just two nights at Six Senses La Sagesse, one of the newest 5 star luxury resorts in the Caribbean. The resort is located on a headland on Grenada’s southern coast, with a calm beach on one side and dramatic waves on the other. It’s laid out like a casual Caribbean village, nothing taller than the palms and linked by garden paths and a lagoon.
Since we wanted the best experience, we decided to book the Pool Suite. It was modern, comfortable, and designed for easy indoor/outdoor living. Every suite and villa on the property comes with its own pool and terrace, plus must-have extras like fast Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth speaker, and a yoga mat. Whether you choose the beach, resort, or clifftop area, the style is simple and contemporary, and it’s very easy to settle in.
Dining was consistently good, too. Callaloo handled our all-day meals with fresh, seasonal dishes, while SeaFire offered bigger, bolder shareable plates at night. Meanwhile, Panquai was perfect for casual lunches and evening cocktails, complete with churrasco skewers roasting over the fire. We also spent time at the spa, which has everything from plunge pools to yoga and wellness programs.
