The legalization of marijuana in the “Centennial State” of Colorado has resulted in an endless number of new and exciting activities, attractions, and events surrounding the bud. Cannabis use, while prohibited in public, has been legal for recreational use since late 2012 and for medical use since 2000 in the state. Of them all, Colorado Springs is perhaps one of the most exciting 420-friendly destinations in the state. The number of 420-friendly hotels in Colorado Springs should tell you that, even if the laws differ slightly from the rest of the state. Did you know that the city even has cannabis lounges and clubs? Yes!
Currently, there are no recreational dispensaries in the city. Moreover, we as cannabis consumers had to be more than the age of 21 years and needed to legally purchase recreational cannabis somewhere else in the state to be able to consume it here. It’s interesting to note that Manitou Springs, just outside the town, was the place we went for all our recreational needs. Additionally, we couldn’t consume it in outdoor or public places, unless we were on a property that specifically allowed us to do so. If you’re also looking for a bud-friendly vacation in Colorado Springs, here’s a comprehensive guide to its best 420-friendly stays.

Avenue Hotel Bed And Breakfast
10
Best adults-only 420-friendly property. We begin with the Avenue Hotel Bed And Breakfast, whose cannabis-friendly policy allowed us to enjoy a more liberated relaxation experience. Originally an 1886-established boardinghouse, today it’s a modern version that sits across the main inn and a carriage house behind it. Today, it’s one of the only destinations in the politically conservative El Paso region where one can legally smoke marijuana. While we weren’t allowed to smoke in our rooms, we could eat edibles and use vaporizers indoors. Moreover, we could smoke pretty much anywhere outdoors on the premises, including the back patio, the front porch, and everywhere else.
Every morning, we were treated to gourmet breakfasts in the warm breakfast room, which sat right next to the kitchen and a large communal table. All 10 rooms and suites boasted private baths (two of them were detached) as well as clawfoot tubs, fir floors, flatscreen TVs, stone fireplaces, and even dressing gowns and mountain views. What more could we ask for?

Arrowhead Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn & Event Center

Best 420-friendly amenities. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that we’d find a legitimately 420-friendly B&B, but the Arrowhead Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn & Event Center defied all myths. While they don’t allow smoking of any kind inside the house so that the indoors don’t smell like smoke, we don’t mind it at all. That’s because they had many designated gorgeous outdoor areas where we could smoke comfortably. This even included a few private smoking decks right off our rooms, complete with gorgeous mountain views. It was this sense of freedom that enhanced our overall experience, not only making our stay comfy but also uniquely tailored to our preferences.
However, that’s not all. This B&B was 420-friendly in more than just the sense of setting; they even offered cannabis-infused dinners and wellness packages. If that wasn’t enough, they even have a courier setup for delivering marijuana right to their parking lot, 24×7, and that too at a concessional delivery rate. Additionally, they even had an affordable 420 smokers kit in their vending machine, which included a pipe, a grinder, papers, and a lighter. Did you know that they also offer MMJ limo tours for two, where you can legally smoke and drink while driving around? The chauffeur-driven three-hour tour stops at a dispensary, a grow operation, a glass-blowing shop, and a restaurant, with pickup and drop services. How could we say no to this sort of comfort and service?
At the property, we had the choice of many rooms and suites, with comfy beds, private decks with mountain views, jacuzzi tubs, fireplaces, and mod-cons. Oof.

Cliff House Lodge Hot Tub and Cottages

Cliff House Lodge Hot Tub and Cottages is Morrison’s hidden gem, located just an hour north of Colorado Springs. It sat just a mile from the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, one of the most incredible places carved from rock but also one of the world’s most amazing cinemas.
We were impressed by the 1873-built property, which featured eight unique private cottages. Six of them boasted their own private hot tubs on enclosed patios, which is where we chose to stay during our romantic Colorado Springs sojourn. The other two boasted in-room jetted bathtubs; one of them, the Camelot, had both, an in-room jetted bathtub and a hot tub. So, if you’re here during the colder months, you can choose where to relax and unwind. Nevertheless, all of the cottages had modern amenities, like comfy beds, living areas with TVs with Netflix, modern bathrooms, and even fully-equipped kitchens for whipping up meals. While smoking wasn’t allowed on the property, we could smoke in the designated open spaces on the grounds, not near the cabins.
Despite there being a kitchen in every unit, we appreciated the property served signature homemade breakfasts, which were included in the stay. Moreover, many trails were leading off the property for fishing, climbing, biking, hiking, and more.

Manitou Cog Hotel

Best 420-friendly space. Have you ever heard of 420-friendly hotels in Colorado Springs, CO, to boast “canna cabanas” on their property? Well, the Manitou Cog Hotel in the heart of Manitou Springs did, and we were most impressed and thrilled to have found this property. Even though the hotel doesn’t allow smoking inside the property, it allows both marijuana and tobacco to be consumed in the one-and-only famous “Canna Cabana” that sits adjoining the hotel. So, we certainly had a fantastic time at this hotel, getting high safely on the property without any worries.
“A canna cabana to smoke up in? If that isn’t amazing, we don’t know what is!”
WOW Travel
That’s not all that this hotel offered; we were impressed by the fact that it offered many traditional hotel amenities too. For instance, our favorite spot on the property, after the canna cabana, of course, was the refreshing outdoor seasonal swimming pool. Since we were visiting in summer, it was open and we could cool off from the heat with spectacular mountain views. Later, we’d enjoy grilling delicious alfresco meals on the outdoor patio, which not only had a BBQ grill but also comfortable seating. Did we mention the continental breakfast offered every day and the mini-golf with beautiful views of Pikes Peak? Yep.
All rooms had comfy king/queen beds TVs, Wi-Fi, dining nooks, small fridges, and microwaves, while the suites even had distinct living room areas.

El Colorado Lodge

Best for large groups. Imagine finding rustic but modern cabins right in the heart of the town; that’s the El Colorado Lodge for you. This marijuana-friendly property offered us the choice of nearly 27 adobe cabins right at the foot of Pikes Peak, with mesmerizing views all around. We loved the southwestern decor of each cabin, which differed in size from single- and double-bed ones to even large apartment-sized cabins that slept up to seven people. Since we were a group of friends visiting Manitou Springs, the apartment cabin suited us perfectly.
Despite being a simple property, there were a host of amenities offered here, like the basketball court and the outdoor pavilion to soak in the surroundings. Since we visited here during summer, we indulged in the joys of the heated outdoor pool, following which we would consume edibles and relax and cool down. Did you know that they even had games like shuffleboard, horseshoes, and more? Yes! So, they were perfect for our reunion holiday with our friends.
While smoking isn’t allowed in the rooms, we could consume edibles. Also, we could smoke away from the property in the designated smoking areas on the acres of grounds surrounding it.

Keithley Pines Historic Cabins

We were looking for 420-friendly cabins rather than hotels and we were fortunate to have found the Keithley Pines Historic Cabins. Run by the Keithley family that also lives on the property, the cabins have been around since 1913 and are a huge part of the history of Manitou Springs.
They had the choice of three historic log cabin homes on the huge laugh property, offering superior levels of comfort and privacy. While the two-bedroom Blue and Silver Spruce cabins were larger, the one-bedroom Bristlecone cabin was perfect for our cozy Manitou Springs holiday. Nevertheless, all three cabins boasted comfortably plush log beds, a spacious living area with a sofa and fireplace, a dining nook, modern bathrooms with clawfoot bathtubs, and even fully-equipped kitchens. So, we didn’t have to worry about meals and even had the flexibility of whipping up light meals whenever we wanted. While the cabins themselves were non-smoking, we could smoke in the designated open spaces on the property, away from the cabins.
We loved exploring the rest of the organic farm too. Finally, we weren’t far from most Manitou Springs attractions, including the Garden of the Gods.

Mystic Portal B&B

Mystic Portal B&B in the heart of Manitou Springs is a vetted, 420-friendly bed and breakfast that lies very close to some of the recreational dispensaries in the town. So, we knew that where we were going to source marijuana wasn’t very far from where we would be staying. The views of Front Range Mountain and Pikes Peak from this place were mind-blowing, but what we loved was that it even offered a hot tub with views. So, soaking in the bubbling waters at the end of a long day was just what we were looking for.
We had the choice of many rooms here, all of which came with plush beds, satellite TVs, iPod docking stations, private modern bathrooms, and either city or mountain views. Our room even had a balcony where we’d enjoy edibles since smoking isn’t allowed on the property. We have to tell you that there’s the option of a private cabin, complete with a private hot tub and a marijuana garden too! We’d start our days with a complimentary breakfast every day and end it at the barbeque on the redwood terrace, complemented by views of Pikes Peak.
The best bit, though, was that the gardens with the pond and hang-out areas on the grounds were all 420-friendly! Did we mention the beautiful backyard with two fireplaces and sitting areas with mountain views? It’s a great place to get high indeed.

Econo Lodge Downtown

Best value for money. We were looking for budget-friendly Colorado Springs 420 hotels, and the Econo Lodge Downtown was perfect. The hotel allowed vaping and smoking outside the parking area, not inside the property or in the rooms. Since we had edibles, we didn’t have any issues either. However, what we loved about this place was that despite being a budget hotel, it had a whole boatload of amenities. For one, we’d enjoy free made-to-order breakfasts every morning, even though there was no restaurant on site. It was very well maintained for an older hotel, making it a value-for-money accommodation for us.
Since this was an all-suite hotel, we had the choice of many digs, ranging from standard queen suites to the larger king ones, complete with separate living areas. What’s more, they all came with separate sitting areas with flatscreen TVs, sofas, blush beds, and even small kitchenettes with microwaves, fridges, and coffeemakers.

The Historic Allison House

We were looking for a historical base near Colorado Springs to enjoy our ‘high time’ here. That’s when we chanced upon the Historic Allison House. Tucked in a fully restored historical mansion in Manitou Springs, the gorgeous inn is a luxurious four-bedroom home-turned-420-friendly stay.
We were impressed right off the bat as we crossed a gorgeous bridge leading to this mansion, complete with a wonderful oversized deck. It sat on an estate surrounded by lush gardens with trees and water features, making it a perfectly cozy place to enjoy recreational marijuana. We had the choice of four bedrooms, all of which boasted soft beds, flatscreen TVs, and seating areas next to windows. Every morning, we’d come down to the fully stocked kitchen where we could cook meals to our liking. While they didn’t allow smoking in the rooms or anywhere near the property, the outdoor garden areas were perfect for the same.

INNHale Bed & Brunch

Most 420-friendly. Sitting at the top of the list is INNHale Bed & Brunch in Manitou Springs. The setting couldn’t be more perfect; the surroundings are lush, with the mountains in the distance. However, we chose this B&B for its truly unique yet upscale counterculture Rocky Mountain high experience, and that too in complete accordance with Colorado State Law.
We loved the fact that besides on-premise consumption, the B&B also provided a bunch of other 420-friendly amenities and experiences. These included infused and non-infused massages and treatments at the onsite spa, puff, and paint experience, infused gourmet meals, and even a munchie table! The rates included gourmet brunches, which we enjoyed all days of the week. If that wasn’t enough, they even served sweet and savory munchies every day, as well as High Tea with liquid libations, tea, and snacks every day at 4:20 pm — obviously. Please note that their base potions, lotions, drinks, and foods could contain CBD hemp extracts and not THC, whose infusions are only prepared with distillate supplied by guests who want it. The highlight, though, was that they even offered cannabis-inspired multi-course dinner weekends, which we cannabis aficionados will never forget in our entire lives. Check out their food and drink offerings.
The B&B allows dogs for a fee and also provides free Wi-fi access and even has an infrared sauna. Also, do note that you can’t use tobacco products, including blunt wraps, inside the building, but rather outside.

Where to Stay in Colorado Springs?
Colorado Springs is as large as it feels small, so staying Downtown is a great idea, especially for those who are visiting the city for the first time. Not only is the location convenient, but it also offers easy access to a ton of entertainment venues, dining options, accommodations, and even attractions and sites. Moreover downtown is not too far from many of the surrounding regions, such as Manitou Springs, Boulder, etc. Secondly, there’s old Colorado City, which is a picturesque and charming neighborhood that offers the perfect historic experience for culture vultures. We love the stunning Victorian-era architecture and quaint and nostalgic vibe of this neighborhood.
However, our favorite place to stay would undoubtedly be Manitou Springs. In terms of being 420-friendly, Manitou Springs does have recreational dispensaries where we could source edibles and other items from. Moreover, we love the small-town vibe of the place, including its thriving arts scene, hot springs, hiking trails, and the natural beauty around it. If there is the perfect destination to take advantage of being 420-friendly, it would be Manitou Springs!
