We had a great stay at Celestino Boutique Hotel & Spa, one of the top gay-friendly hotels in Medellin! We were first interested in the hotel because of its beautiful design. Expect lots of greenery and modern touches! However, this modern hotel is more than just eye candy, and our stay was 10 times better than we expected.
The location is unbeatable if you want to be in the heart of the action. It’s right on Via Primavera, so we were surrounded by the best cafes, shops, and nightlife in El Poblado. Most of our favorite spots were just a short walk away, so it was easy to get around. We also loved having that cafe on the ground floor. The coffee there is excellent and made our mornings a lot easier!
Our room was on the sixth floor, and having a balcony was a big perk. The views of the Medellin sunset over the mountains were incredible. The space was spotless, with a modern look, a rain shower, and a comfy bed. And though we only stayed for two nights, we made sure to always hit the sauna and the rooftop jacuzzi every single day to wind down.

Chic and well-designed, Elcielo Hotel Luxury Medellin is another fantastic choice. First, let’s address the elephant in the room: the on-site Michelin restaurant! On our first night, we grabbed a table there and had a great time. It’s a total sensory experience, and you can really tell how much thought went into the concept behind each dish. We weren’t just impressed by the food, as the cocktails were exceptional and definitely worth ordering as well.
Furthermore, our room was surprisingly spacious. Since we were facing the front of the building, the trees right outside our window made it feel like we were staying in a forest. The beds and pillows were plush and, honestly, some of the most comfortable we’ve slept on. Plus, they stocked the bathroom with Le Labo products and kept us happy with plenty of complimentary snacks.
The rooftop pool was another highlight for us. It’s heated and actually stayed warm, which was perfect for taking in the views of the Andean mountains and the surrounding neighborhoods. The coolest part, though, has to be the clear glass section on the bottom of the pool that looks straight down into the lobby. It’s a pretty wild detail that we haven’t seen anywhere else in Medellin.

Thanks to Hotel Marquee Medellín, we were able to stay right in the thick of it. It’s a cozy boutique hotel located directly in the lively Parque Lleras area. The hotel still feels brand new, and the design is actually pretty impressive. There’s lots of wood paneling, gold trim, and massive floor-to-ceiling windows. If you’re looking to splurge, their penthouse suites are supposedly some of the most extravagant in all of Colombia.
The best part of the room for us was easily the bed. It was one of the most comfortable we’ve slept in for years. We also really appreciated the purified water tap right in the room, which you don’t see everywhere. For food, we hit up their restaurant, Abbiocco, which serves Italian food with a local twist, but the real highlight for us was the open-air rooftop bar.
Just a heads-up: this is an all-night party district, so don’t expect much peace and quiet. It’s loud, but the hotel provides earplugs in the room that actually did the job and kept the noise from ruining our stay. It’s a trade-off for being in such a central location, but between the great service and the comfort of the room, it’s definitely a great choice.

Most Modern. Medellín’s tourism scene has officially leveled up, and having the second Click Clack Hotel open here is a total game-changer for anyone into boutique stays. Location-wise, we were right in the heart of El Poblado, which is packed with all the best shops and bars. However, the hotel makes a strong case for never leaving.
During our stay, we spent a lot of time at the poolside bar and the cocktail lounge, which is a genuine local hotspot. If you stay here, definitely don’t skip the restaurant, the Click Clack Kitchen. The brunch is a big deal in the city for a reason, so make sure to make your reservation beforehand.
The building itself is a massive piece of modern architecture that sets the tone before you even walk in. We loved their “S to 2XL” room sizing. It’s a simple, smart way to pick exactly what you need. Our L Junior Suite was extra luxurious with a moody, dark color palette, but it didn’t feel too serious thanks to quirky details like tiny terrariums built into the bedside lamps.

Best for Families. Family trips don’t always have to feel like parenting in a different city. If you’re planning to visit Medellin, check out Novotel Medellin El Tesoro. It’s located in a prestigious area with insane views of the mountains and the Aburrá Valley. Whether it was the kids hitting the pool or us just chilling and taking in the scenery, everyone actually had a good time at the same time.
The location is a huge draw because it’s attached to the El Tesoro Mall. Having a massive variety of shops and restaurants right there made things so much easier for us. Beyond the convenience, the staff was exceptionally friendly from start to finish. They were great about helping us find safe transportation and giving us the lowdown on how to navigate the city.
As for the food, we were highly impressed. The morning buffet was excellent and definitely worth waking up for, but the rooftop restaurant was the real standout. We had some of the best food there! We also spent a lot of our downtime at the outdoor pool complex, and we had a blast, especially our kids. While most people in Medellin end up in modern high-rises, we decided to try something different at Hotel Quinta Ladera. It’s a small, 20-room boutique spot that’s undeniably charming and fancy. Even though it’s tucked away from the noisy main streets, we were still close enough to walk to the local museums. Better yet, the whole place is surrounded by gardens and trees with string lights.
The design inside is pretty low-key but high-quality, featuring terracotta floors and white wood ceilings. We noticed a lot of local Colombian touches, too, like handmade ceramics and woven baskets, which gave the rooms a lot more character than your average hotel. That said, our room had these bright accent walls and was stocked with organic toiletries and artisan towels. Some of the rooms even have French doors that open onto patios with stone tubs!
For food, the on-site café has a French-meets-Colombian menu. We spent our mornings alternating between fresh almond croissants and traditional local breakfast dishes before heading out for the day. Since it’s so walkable, we hit a few cultural spots nearby and then spent the afternoons just hanging out in the hammocks by the reflecting pool.

Best Wellness Amenities. Binn Hotel is a gem. As one of the ultimate best hotels in Medellin, this boutique accommodation is strategically located in the entertainment district, so we had easy access to all the best dining and cultural spots. However, we think it’s more like a quiet wellness retreat, and we’re sure wellness enthusiasts will love it.
One of the highlights for us was the outdoor hot tub area. Medellín is known for its “eternal spring” weather, and soaking outside in that climate was amazing. Thanks to the hot tubs and the professional treatments at the on-site spa, we managed to turn our vacation into a wellness trip. It didn’t feel like a standard hotel gym or pool area at all.
What we appreciated most, though, was the boutique size of the property. Because it isn’t a massive, impersonal chain, the service was much more customized to us. We were just a quick four-minute stroll from the cultural heart of El Poblado Park. Whenever we wanted to dial up the energy, the neon lights and pulsing nightlife of Lleras Park were only steps away as well, making it incredibly easy for us to dive into the city’s premier party scene and retreat back to our quiet room whenever we’d had our fill.
Inside, the contemporary design really caters to a more discerning crowd. Whether you’re traveling as a couple on a romantic getaway or you’re a solo traveler looking for a peaceful but accessible spot, the accommodations feel thoughtfully curated. We booked the Deluxe King Room, and we were impressed. The bed was one of the comfiest, and the brick walls added character to the room. We found it to be the perfect middle ground: you get all the contemporary luxury you’d expect from a high-end stay, but with a level of accessibility to Medellín’s best attractions that makes you feel like a local insider.
