Feuerstein Nature Family Resort
11
We’re truly obsessed with the Feuerstein Nature Family Resort. Yes, it’s just over the border in Italy’s South Tyrol, but it’s right near Austria, and the aesthetics alone are worth the drive. Tucked away in the beautiful Pflerschtal Valley, this spot makes family holidays easy. They designed the entire place, from the gorgeous Alpine look to the incredible offerings, with parents and kids in mind.
This resort genuinely caters to every age. The facilities are next-level: a huge play barn, a real wood workshop, a messy mud room, and even a full-on Ninja Warrior course! Outdoors, it’s all about playing pirates on the lake or hanging out in winter igloos. The real kicker for us, though, was the 70 hours of included childcare per week.
Best of all, while the on-site family spa is great, the adult-only areas provided the peace we desperately needed. Feuerstein proves that a holiday with kids doesn’t have to be stressful!

Hotel Sonnblick

Say hello to the 4-star Hotel Sonnblick, a favorite among families. This hotel is nestled right at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn, making it feel totally remote, but it’s actually super convenient. The ski slope is only 656 feet away, and there’s a bus stop directly opposite. It’s the ideal, picturesque gateway to the Hohe Tauern National Park.
While we appreciated the pleasant adult retreat vibe, the kids were obsessed with their own dedicated play area! Trampoline, swings, you name it. It let them burn off energy while we finally got a moment to ourselves. It’s the rare hotel that gets the family balance just right.
And the best part? The food and the Zirben SPA! Dinner was a highlight. They have seasonal, regional delicacies in the half-board restaurant, with fun themed buffets happening regularly. We even upgraded to a 5-course. Meanwhile, the spa was our go-to for pure regeneration.

Feelfree Nature Resort

We have a feeling the Feelfree Nature Resort in Tyrol will be your next holiday spot. Picture huge mountains, a rushing river, and the cutest village backdrop. It’s perfect whether you’re planning a big family trip or a sweet couples’ escape. We were obsessed with the natural, chic design, and the whole atmosphere made us relax easily.
But this resort is all about getting both your adventure and your zen on. They have an epic activity center for when you’re ready to explore, but when it’s time to recover, the spa center is ready to welcome you. We’re talking five saunas and a gorgeous infinity pool. Big props to the resort for the kids’ fun, too. It boasts a pool with a slide and a soft play area that kept our little ones happy for hours.
If you do decide to spend your nights here, don’t skip the food! The meals were truly top-tier for us. We kicked off every morning with a massive breakfast buffet, and the four-course dinner was flawless.

Hotel Taxerhof
8
Like many other hotels on this list, Hotel Taxerhof is a family-run retreat in the stunning Alps. The genuine warmth and personalized service from the team made us feel so appreciated. The location is also perfect: sunny, scenic, and you can ski right onto the “Tauern Trail.” It’s an alpine dream for parents who want both romance and room for their kids to roam.
Taxerhof has all the kid-friendly amenities you could ask for. They’ve got an amazing indoor setup with a game room for the little ones and a super cool youth room for teens. Outdoors, the playground is massive with go-karts and trampolines, and in the snow, they even lend out sleds for free! Our little ones especially loved the kids’ cinema, daily menu, and famous ice chest with gummy bears.
But the best part? It’s a real working farmhouse! Seeing the cows, calves, and rabbits made our kids smile from ear to ear. There’s so much space to play and build a snow fort, making it unforgettable.

Bauernhof Hotel Oberschwarzach
7
Bauernhof Hotel Oberschwarzach in Saalbach Hinterglemm will be 100% your kid’s new favorite destination. It’s been family-run for ages, giving it the coziest vibe, but the location is the biggest selling point. We were literally just a five-minute walk from the village, right next to all the major mountain lifts. If you’re into hiking or biking, this spot is your ultimate base camp!
Finding a family room that actually works is a dream, and they nailed it. Their spacious rooms made us feel right at home. But the real game-changer was the kids’ action. They offer a non-stop children’s program. Think pony time, awesome hikes, feeding rabbits, and campfire stories. Our kids were extremely happy, and they kept making new friends left and right.
Moreover, thanks to their pro-childcare, we got to sneak in some quality us time. We melted away the stress in the gorgeous wellness area and just soaked up the epic mountain views. If you want adventure for the kids and genuine relaxation for yourselves, you have to book this place.

Villa Alma
6
Best Value for Money. Though generally more affordable than many other hotels, Villa Alma still offers a fantastic experience for families. This lakeside property boasts eight beautifully designed rooms and suites, each one opening onto a balcony with dreamy water views. Better yet, our mornings started slowly with a complimentary breakfast spread full of regional treats.
This place knew how to spoil us. There was an all-day honesty bar stocked with snacks, juices, and great coffee, so we could always grab a little something. We also loved being able to borrow bikes, paddle boards, or tennis racquets on a whim, and the private lakeside beach was a major highlight.
Even downtime at Villa Alma felt thoughtfully planned. In quieter moments, we found ourselves flipping through books in the cozy library or getting way too competitive over board games. And despite feeling like a serene escape, it’s surprisingly easy to get to. It’s just about a 35-minute drive from the airport, which made the whole trip feel refreshingly stress-free.

Family & Sporthotel Kärntnerhof
5
Best Activities. We’re sure active families will have tons of fun at the Family & Sporthotel Kärntnerhof in Carinthia’s stunning Nock Mountains. The location is peaceful but still close to the town center and thermal baths. Stepping outside means instant access to hiking, biking, and skiing. The staff’s expertise was awesome too, as they often gave us first-hand advice and gear tips.
The convenience is huge, especially in winter. Hitting the slopes is stress-free since they have a ski school for all ages and rentals right on-site. Additionally, we also loved the modern gym and the fantastic indoor water park with saunas and wellness treatments. The best part for us parents? While the kids were entertained in the huge Oskar’s Adventure World, we actually got a moment of real peace.
Furthermore, our comfortable Family Room was perfect for recharging, but the absolute highlight was the food! They serve up delicious Alpine-Adriatic cuisine, the perfect fuel after an action-packed day.

Ferienwelt Kesselgrub
4
Not all family friendly hotels in Austria are the same, and Ferienwelt Kesselgrub is a special one. Once we arrived and unpacked, we instantly felt at home. Besides, practical touches like the baby package, free transfers, and EV charging made traveling with kids surprisingly easy.
Food was a highlight for us, and we loved having options without ever needing to leave the property. We had the hotel restaurant, the cozy Green Alpine Bar for relaxed drinks, and the à la carte spot s’Kessei. While we were enjoying that, the kids were equally happy doing their own thing. They loved the supervised kids’ club and the youth room with mini bowling. Add in the pony farm and the epic water world with slides, and you’ve basically got a guaranteed win for all ages.
What really sets Wagner’s Aparthotel apart, though, is how well it balances family fun with genuine relaxation. We loved unwinding in the family wellness areas, then sneaking off to the Panorama Mountain Adults Spa for some peaceful, adults-only downtime. The massive garden with its own swimming lake was another favorite, as was the modern fitness room.

Wagner’s Aparthotel

We had a blast in Pertisau, mostly because of Wagner’s Aparthotel. We got a spotless, super-equipped, and quiet apartment, plus access to the main hotel next door. The whole place is beautifully designed, and it felt instantly comfortable for our family, even with an adult in tow.
Big thanks to the “cleaning fairies” who kept our apartment pristine and always had a cheerful smile. The communal spaces are awesome, too! We loved the cozy, beautifully designed lounge, perfect for relaxing outside the apartment. And shout-out to the kid-friendly amenities, with a playground right by the house and a children’s corner inside the lounge. They really think of everyone!
The absolute highlight? That short walk in a bathrobe over to the grand Hotel Wagnerhof. It made unwinding so easy! Pure relaxation awaits, and the hosts there are incredibly warm. If you want a flexible, quality stay in Pertisau with easy access to incredible facilities, Wagner’s Aparthotel is a must-book.

Falkensteiner Family Hotel Montafon
2
Best for Babies. We’re always up for an Austrian adventure, and Falkensteiner Family Hotel Montafon makes it ridiculously easy. Set high in the Golm mountains, it feels just as magical in snowy winter as it does in sunny summer. From the outside, it looks like a fairytale lodge, and inside, it absolutely lives up to the hype. One minute we were gearing up for mountain fun, the next we were easing into full spa mode.
This is a dream base for families who like to stay moving. The activity list is endless. We’re talking about alpaca hikes, outdoor slides, an Alpine rollercoaster, and many more. The complimentary Kids’ Club is next-level impressive, welcoming little ones from six months and offering everything from soft play and science labs to driving school and outdoor adventures.
Then there’s the stuff that makes parents very happy. An indoor-outdoor pool, baby splash area, kid-friendly spa treatments, and a DJ booth for older kids keep everyone entertained. Our favorite, though, was the climbing wall right next to the bar. Add in full-board dining that nails both local comfort and modern flavors, and we were left with one big question: do we keep this place to ourselves, or tell everyone?
“We never imagined traveling with babies could be this stress-free. Falkensteiner made it possible.”

Alpin Juwel
1
Best Kids Club. Alpin Juwel is one of those hotels in Austria that are designed with modern families in mind. This 4-star lifestyle hotel blends Alpine charm with sleek comforts, all set against a magical mountain backdrop. What we appreciated most, though, was the seasonal Kids Club for children aged 3 and above. It was open until 9 PM, giving us tons of guilt-free “me time,” which we happily spent unwinding in the spa. With multiple saunas, indoor and outdoor pools, relaxation rooms, and daily yoga, we were able to switch off in seconds.
We have to talk about the location, too. Saalbach really is an all-season playground, and Alpin Juwel makes the most of its location. In warmer months, the included Joker Cards unlock free lifts, guided hikes, and local attractions, while winter brings ski-in access to Austria’s largest ski area just a short walk away. From cruising groomed slopes to night skiing, tobogganing, and sleigh rides, there’s always something memorable to do.
Food was the final win for us. The hotel’s two restaurants put a strong focus on local, organic ingredients, celebrating the flavours of the Austrian Alps without overcomplicating things. Every meal tasted fresh, nourishing, and thoughtfully done, reinforcing Alpin Juwel’s clear respect for its surroundings.
