The Guesthouse Vienna might not look the fanciest, but it effortlessly gives travelers one of the best 5-star experiences. Staying here means you’re right in the center of things. We were just across from the Opera House, Albertina, and Hofburg. However, our favorite spot was the big cushioned window seat where we would sit with coffee, pretending to read but really just watching people go by in the square below. It’s wild to think the place used to be a youth hostel, because now it’s a polished, modern hotel with plenty of personality.
Speaking of which, the rooms here are both stylish and comfortable. While all the options were great, we ended up booking the Courtyard Deluxe Room. It was huge and quiet, and we got complimentary bottles of red and white wine in the room. Although we have to admit that the Maisonette with its little mezzanine bed setup looks fun, too.
Food-wise, we were also impressed. The bistro menu keeps it classic with schnitzel and Sacher sausage, and everything tasted spot-on. In the afternoons, the in-house bakery, Brasserie & Bakery, sends out fresh pastries that are impossible to walk past.

Never heard of Hotel Zur Wiener Staatsoper? Well, that’s because this hotel is still a baby! It was opened in 2024, but in a span of a year, it has already captured travelers’ hearts. It’s tucked just behind the opera house, with a simple white façade and a couple of stone figures holding up the balcony. The building dates back to 1901, but it feels older, in that classic baroque way Vienna does so well.
With only 12 rooms and a penthouse suite, it’s definitely a boutique spot. Each room is named after a classical composer, which fits perfectly, given how close you are to the opera. In the evenings, guests can grab a glass of wine or champagne in the breakfast room, which doubles as a lounge later in the day.
What really made the stay stand out, though, was the service. The house manager, Victoria Klinkhammer, runs the place with quiet efficiency and genuine warmth. She was happy to share tips on where to eat, drink, or stroll nearby, and her recommendations were spot-on. Thanks to her, our trip went from great to perfect.

We thought The Amauris Vienna was just another elegant Ringstrasse hotel, but we were wrong. The marble isn’t just in the lobby — it’s everywhere, even on the bedroom doors! The building used to be a grand palace, and while it’s been updated with modern touches like smooth new lifts, there’s still an old-world charm about it. We took the original lift just for fun. It’s small, creaky, and surrounded by beautiful metalwork.
We booked the Grand Deluxe Double Room, and it was everything we wanted and more. It had clean lines, soft lighting, and a few unexpected details like oversized photos of statues and a few classical busts. Downstairs, there’s a small indoor pool under a glass roof. Though not huge, it was a relaxing spot for a quick swim in the afternoon.
We also loved the energy around the restaurant and bar. Both spaces double as showcases for the owner’s art collection, so they feel more like social hubs. The bar serves great cocktails. The Martini was spot-on, and there’s live jazz and soul on weekends. Dinner at Glasswing, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, was also a highlight. Chef Alexandru Simon’s tasting menu mixes creative pairings like scallops with coco bean cassoulet and cod with lardo and pistachios.

Best for Splurging. Rosewood Vienna has to be one of the most conveniently located hotels in the city. Most rooms look straight out over the dome of St. Peter’s, and guests can easily stroll to Louis Vuitton and Bottega Veneta nearby. Everything we wanted was within walking distance, including those quiet little cafes that make Vienna feel timeless.
While this luxury hotel had so much to offer, it was the Asaya Spa that we loved the most. If you want a 5-star pampering session, it’s the place to be. The Augustinus Bader facial was divine, and afterward, we sank into loungers in the relaxation room, gazing out at St. Peter’s dome in perfect silence. The 24-hour gym is also available for the more ambitious travelers. But instead of lifting weights, we joined the rooftop yoga class in the morning.
Back upstairs, our room was “it”! The bathroom had a deep tub with a pillow so comfortable we almost missed dinner, and the marble shower was out of this world, complete with Maison Caulières amenities. We loved to make ourselves cocktails from the trolley and open the windows to let the breeze in.

Park Hyatt Vienna is the kind of hotel that you know will please you, no matter what. In the heart of the city, the hotel allowed us to explore high-end designer boutiques in the area on foot. Even the Innere Stadt and Café Central were only a few minutes away, and we never broke a sweat. Can you imagine that?
Whenever we had spare time, we would hang out at the on-site Café Am Hof, people-watching from the terrace over coffee and pastries. To be honest, we thought the pastries were too beautiful to eat. By evening, we gravitated to the Bank Bar, housed in what used to be the cashier hall.
We spent our nights in the Deluxe King Room, and it was pure understated luxury. We loved how huge the windows were, but the details impressed us the most. Every texture and finish was intentional. The cherry on top? It was the marble bathroom with underfloor heating!

With the Gothic spire of St. Stephen’s Cathedral practically brushing the windows of DO&CO Hotel Vienna, it’s not surprising that tons of travelers love this place. Even the morning coffee in the on-site restaurant comes with the best view in town. Personally, though, we loved how close everything was. The Hofburg Palace, Albertina, and all those grand coffee houses and concert halls were only moments away.
The staff also made our stay fantastic. They were warm, genuine, and somehow always one step ahead of us. When we casually mentioned wanting to see an opera, tickets magically appeared. Need a picnic basket? Done. A list of local spots only Viennese know? Already printed. And even though the city begged to be explored, we often found ourselves staying put in the Onyx Bar.
Now, let’s talk about our Deluxe Double Room. We loved the little luxuries like the full-sized wine bar, the ridiculously comfy robes, and that rain shower. The soundproofing also made it blissfully peaceful. Feel like splurging? Book the Dome Suite that comes with a private terrace complete with sofas and views of St. Stephen’s Cathedral!

Hotel Sans Souci Wien is located between Vienna’s creative Seventh District and the city’s more refined First. When we first arrived and stepped into the lobby, we were welcomed with curated artwork on the walls and warm lighting. Not to mention, the purple-clad staff was extremely attentive.
For our stay, we decided to splurge on one of the suites. The highlight? A freestanding marble bathtub perfectly positioned by the window. Whenever we were tired, we would pop open a bottle of champagne, dim the lights, and just soak it all in. There’s something unforgettable about watching the city glow beneath you while you unwind in a tub!
Of course, no stay at one of the best hotels in Vienna would be complete without a drink. That was why we decided to stop at the hotel’s Versailles-inspired champagne bar. Holger and Julio, the resident bartenders, are absolute artists behind the counter. We asked for something surprising, and they delivered. Best Castle Hotel. If you want to feel Vienna’s history, we highly recommend staying at Hotel Imperial. Nestled along the grand Ringstraße, the building itself commands attention. It’s not surprising, though, as it’s one of the best castle hotels in Austria. But don’t be fooled by its vintage allure! Inside, it’s all about modern comfort. One of our favorite modern amenities was the rooftop wellness studio overlooking the city. Thanks to the sauna’s gentle heat, the tranquil spa, and the well-equipped gym, we were able to feel our best throughout our stay.
Our room, or rather our suite, could have belonged to royalty. The decor was old-school yet comfortable. Think silk-covered walls, intricate antiques, and a gleaming marble bathroom. What truly impressed us, though, was the discreet efficiency of our personal butler. Nothing needed to be asked twice; everything seemed to appear just as we thought of it.
The culinary side of the hotel was just as memorable. We would begin every morning at Café Imperial, where the aroma of coffee mingled with the sweetness of freshly sliced Imperialtorte. For dinner, we would head to Restaurant Opus, where each dish arrived like a work of art. Yet our favorite ritual was at the Imperial Bar, where we spent hours with a well-made cocktail in hand before calling it a day.

You simply can’t make a list of the best luxury hotels in Vienna Austria without this opulent hotel. Located right on Vienna’s iconic Ringstraße boulevard, the Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna is only a short stroll from St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Palace. This means we spent more time exploring and less time commuting. A win for us!
We stayed in the Premium Room, and it was everything we hoped for. The city views were stunning, especially at sunset. We also loved the thoughtful additions: soft bathrobes, a well-stocked minibar, and a spa-like bathroom, complete with a soaking tub.
Food lovers, this place will ruin you in the best way! Breakfast was a feast, from à la carte dishes to buttery croissants and perfectly brewed coffee. The Michelin-starred restaurant was a highlight, but we also adored the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, where we indulged in their famous Apple Strudel and delicate Viennese pastries. And when we needed to recharge, the 800 m² spa was our go-to. It’s home to multiple saunas, a hydro pool, and even a fitness center.

Best for Dining. We’d heard tons of positive reviews about Hotel Sacher Wien for years. So, our expectations were incredibly high. Thankfully, we can now confidently say it lives up to the hype. Sitting right across from the State Opera House, the location of this hotel is one of its selling points. Sometimes, we could even still hear the last notes echoing outside as we sank into the world’s softest bed. Also, fun fact: Hotel Sacher Wien has also starred in films like The Third Man and Sachertorte.
The Sacher’s story stretches back to 1876, when it was opened by the son of the man who invented the original Sacher-Torte. There’s history in every corner. We had the chance to join a guest for breakfast there, and the service was so warm and effortless. That morning has stuck with us ever since!
And then, of course, there’s Café Sacher, tucked around the corner on Kärntner Straße. It’s a must, even if you’re not staying at the hotel. Between the velvet chairs, the soft clink of porcelain, and that famous slice of chocolate perfection, it’s easy to lose track of time. Just know that half of Vienna seems to have the same idea, so book ahead or come early unless you enjoy queueing!

Best Suite. When it comes to luxury, nobody is doing it like The Ritz-Carlton. Set right on the Ringstrasse, the hotel is surrounded by Vienna’s greatest hits: the Musikverein, the State Opera, and plenty of grand cafes just a short walk away. Despite the prime location and palace-like setting, it’s not a place that coasts on looks. The second we arrived, we immediately noticed how the team here took hospitality seriously.
Check-in set the tone: friendly faces, cool towels, hot tea, and a glass of champagne to shake off the travel fatigue. The food scene inside the hotel is reason enough to stay in. We had perfectly seared Austrian steaks at Dstrikt, shared plates of bright, Sicilian-style dishes at Pastamara, and ended the night at D-bar.
The highlight of our stay was the Ritz-Carlton Symphony Suite, created with the Wiener Symphoniker. It’s spacious, modern, and full of small details that nod to Vienna’s musical history. Think elegant instruments subtly worked into the design and a sound system that makes you want to queue up Mozart immediately. After an exciting yet tiring day, nothing could beat the feeling of sinking into that suite.
